If you park at the Pineapple Garage and walk over the pedestrian bridge that ends next to World of Disney store, there is no security there. You can simply walk into Disney Springs.
There has never been security at the exit from the parking garage into Disney Springs. I go to the AMC to have dinner and movie with my family sometimes.
Glad they are finally doing this. You can arrive at a resort without security checking bags, so you could easily sneak something into DS via the buses.
People, this security is all theater. Stop gleefully surrendering the convenience of coming and going unmolested as some sort of good thing. Disney is over 40sq miles of mostly unmonitored land. Easy to throw something over a fence for retrieval later. There is no security. If you csnt walk, you don’t have to get out of your wheelchair and could easily smuggle sometbing into any park. There is no security. If your children are sleeping, they do not need to get out of the stroller. There is no security.
It’s all perception and 100% ineffective against even a moderately determined criminal. It just wastes honest people’s time who may have something stupid they forgot in their bag.
It’s for show. If you’re afraid of the world, don’t leave your house. Men and women dressed in mouse uniforms will not save you. In fact, im sure they’re prohibited from getting involved even IF something occurred.
I stay on site and travel by Disney busses and have always had to walk thru security for at least the last 2 years. Last trip was 2 weeks ago and had to go thru security.
Typical Disney with their puck and choose rules 99 people walk straight in one gets searched like a criminal yes they chosr me every time surprise I give them hell for each time , If your hoing to do body searches search everyone not just me !!!
Absolute BS wife at 70 years old treated like a criminal pat down and the works! Imagine going to your common mall and treated that way will never go back!
It’s about knowing what sets it off. Collapsible umbrellas battery banks to charge phones certain cell phones. If you get all those out so they can see them as you walk through and know that is what is setting it off you usually dont have to stop. Its not 100% but it helps. We go alot and we get that stuff out and one hold the umbrellas out in front of them one hold the phone charger banks out in front of them.
Had to surrender my Swiss Army knife at EPCOT once or take it back to my resort. A small pocket knife I had carried for 20 years. No option to recover it at guest relations when leaving. Some security cast member got himself a nice little knife. I doubt very much it got thrown in the trash.
When you have a deplorable like DeSantis in charge of the state, who encourages lawlessness and disrespect, sadly it slaps over into public areas like Disney Springs. It’s inconvenient but glad Disney is doing something.
What bothers me about this is we give up privacy to shop, yet there is no security check to get into your hotel or swim at your pool. If there is a worry about your personal safety, then you should be asking for it at the hotels. Inconveniencing diners and shoppers coming from the hotels is just wild, its like being penalized for wanting to give disney your money. I was just there in July. We were on the bus from the water park soaking wet because the heavens opened and had to wait with 2000 other water park guests in pouring rain so we could walk to the resort bus, this seems overly excessive. They need to create a bypass for water park guests tranferring to hotels. Again, as someone noted earlier, you are giving up privacy for what. The nail file that has a sharp edge someone keeps in their purse. There is an old saying, those willing to give up privacy for security deserve neither. This is because you are not really gaining security, they are just creating a profile on you.
But to those defending, keep thinking you are safe. You also should live in a bubble. The world is scary, learn to deal with it. You have everywhere else, what makes disney so special.
Comments for Disney Resort Guests No Longer Allowed to Walk Right Into Disney Springs

I’m glad they’ve closed this security gap. We will feel even safer at the Springs.
