I would love to see an updated Carousel of Progress. I was a Disney park pass holder for about 15 of the 23 years living in Florida. I had to move due to health issues. But I think I would try to make 1 more trip just to see the updates.
Good to have Walt join the show since he had such a hand in its creation. The Wonderful World of Color where Walt describes the ride is a good place to start. The only bad thing is if they have to change Jean Sheppard’s narration.
It has always been a must for me at WDW. Even though many family members groan about it being old fashioned and we’ve seen it so many times. I can’t think of a better addition than adding dear Mr. Disney to the carousel!!!!!!
Carousel of Progress has always been a favorite attraction of mine for years. I never miss an opportunity on each visit to catch its so great nostalgic show. Bringing Walt into the attraction is a terrific idea which will pay homage to his genius behind it. As long as Walt’s original elements remain, the addition of new elements of Walt’s ideas of the future will be welcome!
Make it longer suppose just means you can have a longer nap as still most boring attraction in park ,hopefully they will overhaul people mover while doing work .
Would love to see Walt added to the show as well as an update. Regardless of what Pete Hensey has to say, this is a true original that must be maintained. I never miss this attraction. You can have all the thrill seeking you want however it started with Walt’s dream.
I don’t hate these ideas, but I hope they do a better job with the animatronic’s resemblance to Walt this time rather than stick with the same mold used for the Disneyland design.
At Brandon, I think they learned their lesson with the animatronic at Disneyland, that they would create a different likeness of Walt that looked more like him for Florida. At least one could hope, fingers crossed.
Well they may not like my comment, but I definitely love the idea of them bringing walt into the picture. However, I would truly love to see how he really would react to the progressive changes with the trans world in the show. We all know he’s turning over in his grave since all that started, so, hopefully they remove that part when they put him in. Every man has his limit when they say they don’t stand in the way of progress.
So let me get THIS straight……Walt’s family is FURIOUS over the animatronic they made of him in Cali, a poorly done one at that! (doesn’t look like like Walt, works about as reliably as “Tiana’s VERY Broken Adventure”)
……so they are going to make ANOTHER one here in Fla. ?!?
Talk about a continued pattern of disrespect of Walts family…
But hey, Disney’s disrespect is LEGENDARY as they disrespect the fans wishes as well! Tearing up classic rides, instead of EXPANDING to create the much desired and DEMANDED BY THE FANS, PARK CAPACITY! Blaming the fans whenever one of their woke movies fail. And tell me Disney: Where is this “magical” modern audience that you so after sooooooooo much ?!? Disrespecting & insulting fans with Zegler’s “Snow Woke” or how about the new ending to Lilo & Stitch which jettisons “Ohana means family”. Endless and poorly made destructive “reimaginations” of beloved classic films instead of creating something NEW!
…and they wonder why they are such a DAMAGED brand as they watch their audience and significance disappear along with their profits and share price…..
It’s a wonderful idea they are going to add Walt to the Carousel of Progress after all he is the one that created it. I rode on it at the 1964 NYC World’s Fair and have loved it ever since. It’s a tradition with my 4 grandsons and family when we are at the Magic Kingdom-we will always ride it. After all “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow”
I won’t be surprised they make an exact duplicate of the flawed AA of Walt currently at DL. With their track record of late, they’ll mess it up. I hope I’m wrong!
Comments for Magic Kingdom’s Carousel of Progress To Undergo “Major Refurbishment” Adding Walt Disney to the Show
Barbara Goldsmith
Love the idea of adding Walt to the ride! It needs an update or addition to bring it up to this century. I do love the experience though.

I love the “Carousel”! When they make changes, I’ll be there to see Walt and what they have done!!

The share price is back up there. The attendance is high. The profits are ok. What more do you want Speed Racer?
Oh really
Adding Walt is great. As long as that’s all they add. Some newer technology in the last scene, fine. But please leave the family alone.
