They are lucky they hold your spot in the queue for that long. I doubt the bathroom is 15 minutes away and they only had minutes to relieve themselves and get back.
I don’t think you should be able to leave the line to use a rest room. If you do you should have to go to the end of the line and start again. You should plan and use it before you get in line. That’s line jumping period!

My niece doesn’t even scream that loud when she’s having a tantrum and she’s five! Honestly this is just embarrassing. I think if they see you in a chair, they’ll be a little more understanding. My husband’s in a chair – he wouldn’t be throwing a tantrum on the ground. I doubt you would be either.
There are other reasons, believe me! Like when I have needed to assist my grown disabled daughter, my bladder issues decide to become a problem, and who knows what else?
I think with adults with a disability or adults whose children need to use the restroom should be the exception. Otherwise do not eat or drink prior to getting in line for an attraction.
You should be able to use washroom but there has to be a time limit set or people abuse it. Do some shopping, eat and still expect to join the line where they were while others have endured the line while not getting a break and you wonder why people have a problem? I know I’m not saving you a spot if you do more than use the washroom.
Depends if there’s a long line to use the bathroom, which can easily happen with the girls room. Create more bathrooms closer to the rides that are notorious for long lines.

20 minutes seems sufficient to me, perhaps the person just didn’t want to stand there and wait like the others.
