As Disneyland Resort celebrates its 70th anniversary, Walt Disney Imagineers continue to prove that Walt Disney’s original park will never be finished.

Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort
If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping straight into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is your golden ticket.
Opened on June 4, 2021, this action-packed land took over the space once home to A Bug’s Land and transformed it into a high-energy hub where superheroes train the next generation. It’s designed to make guests feel like they’re truly part of the story, with high-tech rides, surprise hero encounters, and themed bites that are as Instagram-worthy as they are delicious.

Right out of the gate, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure pulls you into Peter Parker’s world. This isn’t your typical theme park ride — you’ll be flinging webs with just your own movements to stop an outbreak of chaotic Spider-Bots. A short walk away, Guardians of the Galaxy–Mission: BREAKOUT! is a wild, drop-heavy escape mission led by Rocket Raccoon, complete with an ever-changing mixtape blasting from the speakers.
The mystical side of Marvel comes alive in the Ancient Sanctum, where Doctor Strange bends reality and invites guests to learn the secrets of the mystic arts. And in the center of the action, the Avengers Headquarters serves as the ultimate meet-up spot, with a Quinjet parked overhead and surprise appearances from characters like Black Panther’s Dora Milaje, Captain America, and Thor keeping the atmosphere charged all day long.

As for food, Pym Test Kitchen uses Ant-Man and The Wasp’s size-shifting Pym Particles to create oversized and undersized versions of comfort food favorites. Think giant meatballs, tiny paninis, and beverages from Pym Tasting Lab served in inventive containers. Over at Shawarma Palace, you can channel your inner Avenger by grabbing the same snack they enjoyed after saving New York, and Terran Treats dishes out cosmic churros and intergalactic sweets straight from the Guardians of the Galaxy playbook.
Of course, no visit would be complete without a run-in with Marvel characters. One minute you might be chatting with Iron Man in his Mark 80 armor, the next teaming up with Ant-Man and The Wasp, or even sharing a moment with Loki. Last year, Deadpool officially joined the lineup, marking the first time an R-rated Marvel character has appeared in a Disney park.

Avengers Campus Doubles In Size
And Avengers Campus is only just getting started. A huge expansion is on the horizon with Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, both set to double the land’s size. Even bigger news? Robert Downey Jr. is returning as Iron Man for these new experiences.
Construction has already begun, promising even more ways to live out your superhero story in the years ahead. Whether you’re a lifelong Marvel fan or just here for the thrill, Avengers Campus is exclusive to the domestic Disney theme parks.

Now, Walt Disney Imagineering has announced the first vertical touchdown in the new expansion. Posting to Instagram, the Disney Imagineering team celebrated the development, writing: “Equipping more guests to become Super Heroes requires equipment! The expansion of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park went vertical this morning with the first steel column lifted into place. New, thrilling attractions will join the campus, doubling its size in the future.”
The expansion was a big part of Disney’s Marvel lineup at last year’s D23 Expo event, which also included information on new experiences coming to Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland.

“Get ready for a multi-world adventure experience with Avengers Infinity Defense. Technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc everywhere,” Disney Parks Blog wrote last year. “Recruits will travel to iconic locations like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City alongside the likes of big, and small, heroes. You also just might find yourself face-to-face with King Thanos, too.”
When it comes to Stark Flight Lab, Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Iron Man comes as the Academy Award-winning actor steps into his second Marvel Cinematic Universe role–Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday (2026).

“If you’re up for another mission, Tony Stark has one for you. And you know Tony, he always wants to try something new and exciting, and it’s going to make you feel like a Super Hero yourself,” the blog added. “With the just announced Stark Flight Lab, you’re going to sit in two-person pods and deploy to a test station. Then a robot arm grabs your pod and starts whirling you around in a simulated flight.”
