Bystanders recently alerted Disney cast members to an infant abandoned in a stroller at Disneyland Park. According to a video posted on social media, the baby’s mother was found waiting in line for the Space Mountain roller coaster with her travel party.

Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort offer a Rider Switch service that allows parents of young children to split up and experience attractions without waiting twice. Anyone traveling with a guest who is unable to ride an attraction (or a service animal) can alert a Disney cast member that they wish to utilize the service.

“Party A” will wait in the standby queue and ride first, while “Party B” (up to two riders) waits in the park with the person unable to ride. After “Party A” finishes riding and reunites with the guest unable to ride, “Party B” can enter the attraction through the Lightning Lane or alternate Rider Switch entrance, eliminating the standby wait.

Unfortunately, one family didn’t take advantage of the Rider Switch service during a recent visit to Disneyland Park. Last month, Instagram user @tink_loves_disney shared this video after discovering an infant abandoned in a stroller in Tomorrowland:

Baby left in stroller while family went on a ride.
😡 😡 😡 😡 😡
I could not believe this. And the security took so long to get here. But I wasn’t letting her get away. I followed her to Space Mountain. She thought my friend was gonna follow her because my friend gave her some choice words. (well deserved) But I was. And when I saw the security, I went and called them. And told them where she and her family went so they could deal with them. The lady and her husband tried to ditch their stroller and walk away with the baby and their 2 kids. 🤦‍♀️

The video shows Disney cast members surrounding the infant shortly after its mother reportedly returned from the Space Mountain queue.

“This lady and her husband and two kids left this baby in the stroller while they went on rides,” the Instagram user explained in the video. “Me and my friend were standing there as she was taking pictures, and I just happened to notice that this stroller was moving.”

The Disney Park guests called for security and stood with the baby for almost 15 minutes, alerting every cast member they could to the situation.

“Of course, I called security, and all of a sudden, she came running, but we had already been standing here about…ten to fifteen minutes, trying to get somebody over here,” the guest continued. “I just kept grabbing employees, and I’m like, ‘There is a baby by itself left in this stroller.’

The guest claimed the mother left the stroller “facing the sun” on the hot park pavement. The infant appears to be crying in the video.

The family reportedly tried to evade security, but the Instagram user and her friend pointed the cast members in their direction. It’s unclear whether the infant’s parents faced consequences from Disneyland Resort.

Guests under 14 years of age must be accompanied by someone 14 or older while visiting Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Failure to follow this policy can result in ejection from Disneyland Resort.
