On Wednesday, Walt Disney World Resort filed another permit for construction on the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. It’s unclear whether this project is related to the “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” show that will premiere inside the Discovery Island theater later this year.
In March, It’s Tough To Be A Bug! performed its final show inside the Tree of Life Theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. For 27 years, this opening-day attraction invited guests to shrink to insect size, educating (and terrifying) viewers about human-insect coexistence with immersive 3-D technology.

Walt Disney Imagineering previously announced that a Zootopia (2016) show would replace It’s Tough To Be A Bug!. “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” will debut in the Tree of Life Theater in late 2025, likely coinciding with the theatrical release of Zootopia 2 (2025). The 3-D show will feature a new song performed by the original voice of Judy Hopps, Ginnifer Goodwin, and official concept art hints at an advanced Clawhauser audio-animatronic, like the one in Zootopia: Hot Pursuit at Shanghai Disneyland.
Shortly after It’s Tough To Be A Bug! closed, Walt Disney World Resort installed construction walls around the Tree of Life attraction entrance and filed several permits for work inside the theater. On July 30, Walt Disney Imagineers filed another mysterious permit for work on Discovery Island without officially connecting it to “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”.

The Notice of Commencement is to “Install Signage” at 745 W Savannah Circle, Bay Lake, FL 32830, the official address of the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The construction permit lists the Jon Richards Company as contractor, a firm that has worked on projects at Disney parks around the world. The company recently installed set elements and signage for Test Track 3.0 at EPCOT and the Country Bear Musical Jamboree at Magic Kingdom Park.

The permit doesn’t mention “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”, but the correlation is likely, given the timing and the address listed for construction. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced an official grand opening date for the new Tree of Life attraction.
