The next five years at Walt Disney World are shaping up to be massive. While many fans have focused on ride closures and refurbishment schedules, Disney just dropped some big hints about what’s coming—and it could change the entire resort.

If you thought things were busy with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Test Track 3.0, buckle up. Four brand-new lands are in the pipeline, each set to transform a different part of the parks.

Tropical Americas (Animal Kingdom – 2027)

Animal Kingdom has always been a gorgeous park, but many guests skip it after lunch. That’s about to change.

The upcoming Tropical Americas land—projected to open in 2027—will take over the space formerly known as DinoLand U.S.A. Yep, the DINOSAUR dig site is gone. In its place, guests will explore lush jungles and vibrant South American villages.

Disney hasn’t revealed everything, but concept art teases at least two big attractions. One is believed to be a ride based on Encanto, likely centered around Casita and the magical Madrigal family. The other might be an Indiana Jones-style adventure, possibly reusing the existing DINOSAUR ride system.

There’s also talk of a walk-through area, themed restaurants, and animal exhibits tied to the region.

Monsters Inc. Land (Hollywood Studios – 2028)

Monsters, Inc. fans have something massive to look forward to. By 2028, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is expected to debut a full-blown Monsters-themed land.

This expansion will reportedly take over the space where Muppet Vision 3D and the surrounding Muppets Courtyard once stood. That means Sam Eagle’s salute to all nations (but mostly America) is already part of the past.

The new area will likely feature a dark ride through Monstropolis. Think doors flying, Boo giggling, and Randall lurking in the shadows. A family-friendly coaster or play zone could also join the lineup.

Disney might even theme the dining to Harryhausen’s, the sushi restaurant from the original film.

Piston Peak (Magic Kingdom – 2028–2029)

Here’s one that caught fans off guard.

Magic Kingdom is getting a brand-new land based on Planes: Fire & Rescue, called Piston Peak. It’s a bit of a curveball, but it could add fresh energy to the park if done right.

This area will reportedly go behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and could serve as a connector between Frontierland and the upcoming Villains expansion. The space is large and perfect for an air-themed stunt attraction, water-based show, or even a mid-size coaster.

Nothing official yet, but rumors point to heavy use of practical effects and aerial theming.

Villains Land (Magic Kingdom – 2029–2030)

This is the one Disney fans have been begging for.

Villains Land has been teased for years. It’s finally moving forward—with an estimated opening in late 2029 or early 2030. Like Piston Peak, it’s also planned for the area behind Big Thunder, replacing nothing directly but expanding into previously unused space.

This dark and daring land is rumored to include a major E-ticket ride featuring Maleficent. Think fire, thorns, and maybe a high-speed dragon encounter. Other ideas on the table? A spinning coaster with Hades, a walkthrough attraction inspired by Ursula’s lair, and a villain-themed dining hall. Of course, who could forget about a villain’s meet and greet?

Disney may be going all-in with the bad guys—and fans are ready.

A Whole New World, Just Years Away

By 2030, Disney World could feel completely different. These four new lands—from jungles to jail-breaking monsters to twisted villains—will change how guests experience the parks.

And if this is just the beginning, who knows what else Disney has up its sleeve.
