Change is hard, we get it. It’s a new chapter for DW, hopefully there is a new cars movie in the works that will make all the growing pains worth it. But for me and my family we have out grown D. Been twice to DW 4 times to DL. Now it’s time to spend vacations in different states / locations and make memories as adults

In no finer terms, I am disgusted. The most magical place has become just another amusement park. This generation of imagineers have lost the plot and their executive leadership have lost the vision to see it. Sad to see Walt’s dream destroyed.
Change is inevitable, but I hope the imagineers keep walts thoughts in mind when designing the new areas. He built Disney world by heart and not wallet. Cater to heartfelt feelings and the money will follow. I know it takes both to survive but the people must come first! 💗
These trees are too far inland to have any effect on any storm. They were so concentrated in one area i doubt anyone will notice a temperature change inside MK. TSI is so far outside the current park customers’ experience that I doubt anyone under 60 ever went there anymore. Many interviews with Walt have him mention future changes to all the parks. BTW, I am 60 years old and have been going since I was 11. So don’t rule me out as some random young commenter.

I know they people at Disney said years ago they didn’t want the parks here states side any longer. They wanted to move everything to Asia at that time. Wouldn’t it just be cheaper and easier to start eliminating parks (erasing them entirely, getting rid of the hardscape completely and return the land undamaged and unspoiled back to nature) than play these stupid “cultural games” by ripping up only the few iconic areas left and the history and point of the parks?
Considering the amount of land they have, I find this decision very disappointing. I feel that this decision comes down to costs rather than doing the right thing. I love the openness of that whole area, and the scenic views. This was one of the gems of the park that set it alone from a regular theme park!

There are plenty of ways to learn about Mark Twain and Tom Sawyer outside of Walt Disney World. One of them is Disneyland. Stop acting like Tom Sawyer Island is disappearing forever when it still exists in the original park. There are also a few movie versions that can be used as introductions if you don’t want to – heaven forbid – jump right into the “deep end” of taking kids to a library. And by the way, kids would still be reading books about families with two dads alongside any classic literature. One does not replace or negate the other.
I’m all for the rebranding of Tom Sawyer Island. I just would not have gone with the cars theme. I would’ve probably gone with a Peter Pan in Neverland theme. I would have rebranded the river boats into pirate ships and would’ve turned them into live action adventure rides (think cannon fire, not real cannons of course). I don’t know many people who are big fans of cars. It seems like an odd choice for the area. However, Disney is not a museum. It needs to grow and change or else the park will become stagnant and boring. I’m an annual passholder and I’m at the park hundreds of times each year. And I think the park needs some definite updates. It needs modernizing. It needs technology updates. It needs new life put into it. I can see that’s what they’re trying to do. Hopefully, the changes that they will continue to make will add to the park.

How does all this expansion and the cutting of trees, just to store equipment, affect the original agreement to keep 3/4 of the property Walt bought, to be maintained/kept as a wildlife area. There was the new roadway, Riviera, Skyliner path, Polynesian Tower, now Lakeshore Villas, destroying Tom Sawyer Island and now the area just destroyed. There is probably going to be more parking lots added.

I almost don’t want to go again. Tom Sawyer Island and the Riverboat were so special. Gentle and calming, making me feel I had slipped back in time. Why does Disney need to take this away? It could easily just add new things. I will so miss the whistle from the Riverboat and the narration.
It seems to me that the Disney upper management has no judgement or understanding. They are extremely self-deceived in thinking that they actually have any decent skills or abilities that can even remotely compare to Walt’s, but in a word, they stink. Walt would have NEVER hired these people to even collect trash in the parks, and now they’re so arrogantly and wickedly throwing out Walt’s work as if IT were trash. And they’re doing it with impunity as if THEY owned the parks. I have news for everyone; they DON’T! They are MERE EMPLOYEES who work for the STOCK HOLDERS! They should NOT be allowed to make these kinds of dicisions on their own as they so arrogantly do!
Why couldn’t WDI just build the Piston Peak complex on this cleared site? Guests could just use an underpass to walk under the railroad tracks. One of these already exists! As for Villains Land, they should be using the 8 acres of undeveloped forest that lies directly between Fantasyland, at the extreme north end of the park. To create access to the new area, I’d move iasw to Epcot, right between Future World and World Showcase. The building left behind could j old four dark rides. A crooked little European street would wind it’s way through, linking to Villains Land in the back.
This is a GREAT idea!! an annual pass since the week they came out my grandma bought it for me. My kids grew up there in Fort wilderness campground I have so many cards from staying there. I have them in two baggies. I had to split them between both kids..

And they’re doing it with impunity as if THEY owned the parks. I have news for everyone; they DON’T! They are MERE EMPLOYEES who work for the STOCK HOLDERS! They should NOT be allowed to make these kinds of dicisions on their own as they so arrogantly do!

Why couldn’t WDI just build the Piston Peak complex on this cleared site? Guests could just use an underpass to walk under the railroad tracks. One of these already exists! As for Villains Land, they should be using the 8 acres of undeveloped forest that lies directly between Fantasyland, at the extreme north end of the park. To create access to the new area, I’d move iasw to Epcot, right between Future World and World Showcase. The building left behind could j old four dark rides. A crooked little European street would wind it’s way through, linking to Villains Land in the back.

This is a GREAT idea!! an annual pass since the week they came out my grandma bought it for me. My kids grew up there in Fort wilderness campground I have so many cards from staying there. I have them in two baggies. I had to split them between both kids..
