Well, I wouldn’t exp3ct much from “Woody.” If you remember Toy Story 4, he left the group at the end. As far as Buzz, may e Tim Allen just doesn’t want to do it anymore and so Jesse is the obvious next up. All the other characters had more supporting roles and she is a natural choice if the two main characters are no longer available. Why would you go straight to “woke”? And can you even define “woke”? This is pretty ridiculous if you ask me. There are so many reasons to make the shift and you highlight one that probably isn’t even close to the reason.

If you can’t define woke, obviously you’re a leftist. Female’s being in the lead (the girlboss stereotype) falls into the category of woke because “strong independent” women are always overshadowing men.

I guess you can’t read Rachel. Buzz Lightyear is definitely in the movie. Tim Allen has already been talking about a scene that involves multiple Buzz’s on an island. (It’s probably a game Bonnie’s playing on her new tablet) While in a way it makes more sense that a girl toy would lead a girl’s room, it just shows Disney and Pixars desire to place yet another female in the lead of a franchise originally belonging to a male(s), Woody and Buzz.

as a man i have no problem with a female lesd. i have an issue when theres ni writing depth behind them cause frankly that’s just lazy and disrespectful to women. I am a feminist ally and a queer man so i definitely have left liberal ideals. but i do recognize a common flaw studios make with qyeer and female characters hust being boring and basic leads. I would applaud a well written “Woke” character lead. and Paramount has dinr a really good job giving us some really great deep minority characters in past decade. especially on star trek.
So it can be done wwll. i feel the real issue is modern movie and tv writers are lazy or lack any social context or understanding. having great minority characters isnt nee there been amaxingly well written strong women for decades here and there. but the faulung recently os they put representation before good story and characters. thats the rral problem. I have hope Pixar will be able to give Jessie who has been there for 3 films already a chance to develip amd grow. Frabkly Toy story 4 was not great so id welcome a good change. Also Tom and Tim are kinda getting old maybe they dont wanna do it anymore in their 60s lol. I am all for Jessie taking the lead as long as they actually do good writing not lszy writing for her character.

Lmao that’s not what woke means at all. That’s just far right culture war definition. Woke is a term dating back over 100 years used in marginalized groups to tell people to stay aware, or “awake,” about issues affecting them and other marginalized groups. It’s a warning to stay vigilant about the people who will try and screw them over. A female lead isn’t “woke” and in no way is Jessie being the main subject of the film, if that’s even the case and not some idiotic assumption made by someone before the first teaser is even dropped, it makes total sense. Buzz and Woody have had their character and story arcs. To be honest their story arcs were really finished at the end of toy story 3, which is why they made forky for 4. Jessie is a complex and lead character whose character hasn’t really had too much of an arc and, since they’ve decided to continue to milk and beat this cow to death, really is the natural choice for the main narrative focus of the next film.

Imma go with anything can be turned to wokeness, but I do think it’s sort of a natural progression to tell Jesse’s story. As lame as Lightyear was, woke or not it sucked, that’s two origin stories for Buzz, Toy Story 4 is primarily Woody learning to let go and be a toy without a person, telling Jesse’s tale is fine, whether it’s how she wound up in “the box” or expanding on her new role as Bonnie’s toy both can be done right and both can be done wrong. And no, it’s not automatically woke for a girl to make a girl toy her favorite (after forky)

I’m not really looking forward to this movie. Aside from the fact that I no longer trust Pixar for being woke, I consider the first two films as enough for me. The 3rd was ok but the fourth was uncalled for and sloppy. This fifty film is completely unnecessary, especially when you’re trying to carry on with the same characters and their storyline after the voice actors and actresses are aging and dying. Let the franchise rest for crying out loud or introduce new toys. I had an awesome idea for a Toy Story 5 and even 6 years ago but with completely new toys and new story. Pixars idea of promoting that technology is putting toys out of use would’ve also sat perfectly into my movie.

It would not be Jessie’s role to run Bonnie’s bedroom. Andy’s toys came later. The leader of Bonnie’s room would be either her eldest or most favorite toy. Buzz should be leading Andy’s group since they looked up to him before the arrival of Jessie. Pixar and Disney just want to girlboss another franchise like they’re doing Marvel and Star Wokes.

I’m surprised Pixar didn’t redesign all the characters and give them all that ugly, bean mouth and bumpy teeth line design that they’re so obsessed with using. They already ruined the facial design of boy Andy, RC, Bo Peep and her sheep in the fourth, which was the worst movie out of them all.

  5. Pinky

Pixar already introduced the cr*ppy girlboss stereotype into the Toy Story storyline in the fourth movie. They trashed Bo Peep with it and made Buzz Lightyear appear weak. Buzz was a strong, confident character who never needed to depend on his automated voice buttons to make a decision. Also, he never had all those different new sayings. Toy Story 4 was sloppily written and created. As someone who has seen the first two about a thousand times each, I don’t take the fourth movie seriously and consider it a disgrace to the franchise.

Its just another girl boss movie from Disney. Disney has only put emphasis on the girl boss movement and has forgotten the boys – just as American culture has. (Spare me the crying about how disadvantaged girls are – more women earning bachelors and masters degrees than men for one example. Boys have been forgotten and neglected in society FACT.) I doubt Disney will ever recover. And now with rumors that Bob Iger is staying LONGER!!! what chance does this company have to right itself. He is responsible for the demise of the brand. Pixar – was once a vibrant creative company – now its turning out more of the rubbish the rest of the company is.

Disney and Universal are the only 2 media companies that have seen gains in their stocks this year. Meanwhile WB was recently labeled a “junk stock” and Paramount is so desperate for their merger to go through they’ll do anything theyre told by the government because if the merger isnt approved the company is going to fold.

      1. Steve

All of them are going to be broken up under antitrust soon. Disney will no longer be a media giant and Comcast will lose Universal. All the major movie studios are going to be independent again and the old Studio System is coming back. Paramount isn’t going anywhere. The major studios will go back to the families of the great studio chiefs so that means WB will be owned by the descendants of Warners and MGM will go back to the family of the great Louis B. Mayer.
