Why ask, Disney execs don’t give damn about preserving Walts dream. They are killing the parks and people are taking notice. After 60+ years of enjoying Disney parks, I myself wonder if it is worth it anymore.
Disney has changed so much over the years. It is totally different from the first it opened to now. If an attraction needed to be fixed it was done quickly and efficiently. But now it takes months or years. Some changes are not for the better.
Some legacy attractions like COP should be maintained and kept at least for the foreseeable future. The last scene should be updated. This was one of my wife’s favorite attractions. It’s mine as well. It doesn’t occupy much space so I hope Disney keeps it up and operating.
I believe it is almost a historical reminder of how America lived…, Our youth should be reminded of how far we have come in Technology.
Close, refurbish and update…

It should be deemed a historic landmark- especially with its link to the Worlds Fair, and its historical context. Why does Europe and other parts of the World cherish and preserve the their history, but we always seem to want to throw ours in the trash just to make a buck ??
They are taking the “Magic” out of the Magic Kingdom. Update, repair and keep what is loved by many Disney fans, the traditional decor and rides that made Disney such a special and memorable place to visit year after year.
It’s like the current ownership has turned their back on Walt Disney. None of the parks would exist and none of the executives would have their cushy jobs if not for Walt’s imagination and perserverance. COP needs some much neglected maintenance, but it should be treated like a legacy attraction. I saw it in NYC in 1964 and still love it today. They are ruining the park with their changes.
Or better yet, change to a disfunctional family(regardless of color or income) in the last act of COP to show what most modern families(pard the pun) in the 21st century have truely changed to, compared to the previous century COP family acts where there’s respect for the parents.
Too many closures on too many wonderful rides! The carousel progress is an amazing, amazing time spent. DO NOT EVER SHUT THIS BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE DOWN!
I just don’t understand WHY Disney seems Hell-bent on erasing EVERY last reminder of Walt Disney. This attraction was and is a technological marvel to be appreciated. Disney charges a LOT of money for admission and everything else, they certainly have the money for maintenance & updates for COP, and can we PLEASE update the final scene to reflect 2025?!! I doubt that anyone below 70 years old even knows what a “laser Disc” is.
With the removal of most of the rides and attractions that Walt Disney was part of and the removal of most of the original rides, attractions and characters why don’t they just change the name of the park. It’s not Disney World anymore. It’s just some amusement park.

If refurbished and updated (especially the narrative, which focuses primarily on a white upper class family) I think it would draw more riders.
