This week, a TikTok video sparked debate about parenting choices at Walt Disney World Resort. In the video, several children played in a restricted area at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, including the Disney Resort hotel’s iconic geyser.
On Wednesday, TikTok user @hannahheisdorf shared footage of the children splashing in the geyser, climbing around near a waterfall, and harassing a duck. The kids had climbed into an off-path, fenced-off area near the Deluxe Resort hotel’s pool.
@hannahheisdorf where are your parentsssss #disney #wildernesslodge #kids
“Where are your parentsssss?” the witness asked.
The video amassed over 60,000 views and sparked a heated debate about parenting at Walt Disney World Resort. Many commenters called for security to ban the families involved; however, the TikToker said they walked away without any intervention from Disney cast members.
“Please bring me back from another view of them being kicked out,” @katie_lynn0924 wrote. “The entitlement of people is insane!”

“Just because you (parent) are on vacation doesnt mean BEING A PARENT is on vacation,” @ani_art_and_stuff replied. “[Cast members] dont get paid enough for this.”
Many pointed out that the artificial geyser was dangerous for kids to play in.
“Geysers have a ton of water pressure to be able to shoot water into a straight stream into the air,” said @lifewithyagirl. “If a child got hit in the face with that, they would get really hurt.”

“This is SO dangerous holy cow,” @lcgenx79 echoed.
Some social media users shared their own experiences with less-than-stellar parenting at Walt Disney World Resort.
“Was there a few months ago and parents were letting kids climb to the top of the waterfall and taking pictures,” @hamiltonra99 recalled. “My jaw just dropped.”

“We were there a few weeks ago and there was a mom in the Canada pavilion who put her child over the fence, and was cheering her him on as he ran through the flowers,” said @mckenzieprince9. “Like on top of them. She was taking videos and laughing.”
Still, a few Disney Parks fans defended the family involved in the situation at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
“Kids let kids this age run around alone all the time… not saying they should but I mean… at home in their neighborhood this would be a normal thing to do… play in a creek… we can’t be mad at kids for not understanding this,” @k039574 argued.
Should these children’s parents face consequences from Walt Disney World Resort? Inside the Magic would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
