Marian Price, a former provisional Irish Republican Army volunteer, is suing The Walt Disney Company over the portrayal of herself in the final episode of FX’s Say Nothing, according to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter.
Price is portrayed in the limited series by 23-year-old Irish actress Hazel Doupe in the show. Say Nothing is based on a book by Patrick Radden Keefe and takes viewers through a period of Irish history known as The Troubles. The series, described as a “gripping story of murder and memory,” has been racking up critical acclaim ever since it was released in late 2024.
The new lawsuit was filed on July 2 in Dublin High Court and claims Say Nothing’s ninth and final episode erroneously depicts her “as having carried out the execution-style murder.” Marian Price, now Marian McGlinchey, specifically takes issue with the show portraying her as the killer of a Belfast mother.
Price is seeking damages and an injunction preventing Minim UK Productions Limited and Disney from further publishing the same or similar defamatory statements. Price also calls on Disney to remove the execution scene from the episode.
Price threatened to file a lawsuit back in 2024, within the first few weeks of the show’s premiere.
In the original book, Patrick Radden Keefe investigates the murder of Jean McConville. Readers follow the efforts of orphaned children to find answers in relation to their mother’s execution. Keefe ultimately writes that Price was the one who killed McConville.
Price was convicted for participating in the Provisional IRA bombing of London’s Old Bailey in 1973. She was released in 1980 and eventually pleaded guilty to purchasing a cell phone that actual IRA members used to claim responsibility for the execution of two British soldiers.

Disney has been the target of multiple lawsuits in 2025. Earlier this, Disney was sued after a guest allegedly suffered an intense allergic reaction while dining at one of the company’s Florida theme parks. The guest in question reportedly spent multiple days in the hospital.
Earlier this summer, Disney settled a discrimination lawsuit involving one of its former theme park employees.
