Disney+’s Evolution and the Home of Marvel Studios

Launched in late 2019, Disney+ quickly became a lifeline for viewers during the pandemic. It offers subscribers access to a vast catalog that spans classic animation and breakout originals. Acting as a central hub for Disney’s many entertainment brands, the platform has evolved significantly in recent years.

Those changes include price hikes and the removal of various titles. Now, with Disney taking full control of Hulu, the most substantial shift may still be on the horizon, as signs point to a merger or deeper integration between the two services.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s live-action series on Disney+ include WandaVision, a reality-bending story exploring grief; The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which follows Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes post-Endgame; Loki, featuring Multiverse chaos with the God of Mischief; and Hawkeye, where Clint Barton mentors Kate Bishop.

Moon Knight introduces Marc Spector and his dissociative identity disorder, while Ms. Marvel centers on teen hero Kamala Khan. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law blends legal comedy with superhero action, and Secret Invasion follows Nick Fury as he uncovers a hidden Skrull conspiracy.

Echo explores Maya Lopez’s roots and ties to Hawkeye, while Agatha All Along spins off from WandaVision with Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness.

Most recently, Ironheart brings Riri Williams to the forefront, showcasing the next generation of tech-powered heroes. All these series continue to expand the MCU narrative exclusively on Disney+.

Disney Removes Marvel Content From Streaming Service

According to a report from The Direct, Disney+ stopped operating the Marvel Animated Rewind stream channel in July 2025. The channel played back-to-back episodes of classic Marvel animated TV shows.

“As of July 1, 2025, the ‘Marvel Animated Rewind’ Streams channel no longer operates on Disney+,” the outlet wrote. “The streamer is filled with classic Marvel animated shows, including Spider-Man: The Animated Series and the original X-Men: The Animated Series from the 1990s, giving fans a look at Marvel’s long history on TV.”

“However, while those shows still run on Disney+, they can only be viewed on an individual basis moving forward,” The Direct added.

The Marvel Animated Stream channel featured 16 shows, including Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Iron Man, and Silver Surfer. There is no word on if or when the streams channel will return to the service.

Disney Teases Upcoming Shows for 2025

The newly released mid-year sizzle reel, highlighting what’s ahead for the rest of the year, noticeably left out a few previously confirmed Marvel and Star Wars projects.

Among the upcoming titles featured in the reel were Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair—starring Glenn Close and Kim Kardashian—the fifth season of Only Murders in the Building, Glen Powell’s Chad Powers, the return of Percy Jackson and the Olympians for Season 2, and Alien: Earth. Marvel’s Wonder Man, part of the studio’s new Marvel Spotlight banner, was also teased for release this winter.

However, three titles were absent: Marvel’s animated series Marvel Zombies, Eyes of Wakanda, and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Visions—Volume 3.

Despite being left out of the reel, Marvel Zombies is still scheduled for an October 3 release. The four-episode spinoff of What If…? will carry a TV-MA rating—matching the tone of Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again.

Meanwhile, Eyes of Wakanda is expected to premiere in August with all episodes available at launch. The Black Panther spinoff is developed by Ryan Coogler and created by Todd Harris, serving as the first Disney+ series of Phase Six, following The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which debuts in theaters in late July.

Star Wars: Visions—Volume 3 was also not seen in the sizzle reel. Volume 3 is currently set for release on October 29, 2025.
