We have seen on different cruise lines kids climbing rails etc. Even on deck parents twice were sitting near having drinks but no attention to child. We got a crew employee and he quickly retrieved child and notified supervisor then parents went looking for child. Had a meeting with captain We saw nothing else. Just because parents are on vacation does not mean parental supervision is stopped. It’s not the crews place to babysit.

It’s great to know how prepared the crew was in this rare rescue of an overboard passenger. However until we know the circumstances of how this fall was even possible, that is little comfort to passengers. future incidents cannot be prevented without knowing the circumstances

There is no way that small child just fell overboard. She was climbing on the railing or the father put her up there for a photo op. The father did what he had to do and the child is fine but things could have turned out very different. I would think there are cameras everywhere so they will find out what happened. Parents need to watch their children.

My experience with the Disney cruise ships, while not specifically The Dream, are that the railings are high and protected with plexiglass. For a child to climb over would not be impossible, but definitely a difficult feat and not quickly accomplished. It would be a struggle. Definitely something that would leave enough time for an observant person to intervene.
