Countless Disneyland Resort guests fled Disney California Adventure Park early after an announcement informing guests that the park was closed, effective immediately.

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park have set hours, which guests can check on the Disneyland Resort website or the park’s official app. The calendar is posted weeks in advance, and rarely changes unless a special event or extenuating circumstances force an update. Many guests, especially local Magic Key holders, plan their visits to take advantage of later hours, getting the most out of their time at the Southern California Disney parks.

Earlier this month, however, thousands of guests were shocked when Disneyland Resort abruptly announced that Disney California Adventure Park was closing at 8:00 p.m., despite the posted hours stating that it would remain open until 10:00 p.m. A Disney Park guest shared their experience in a post on Reddit on July 2, asking if the PA system announcement could’ve been “accidental.”

“Did anybody that hear the park closed message at DCA at 8pm just now?” the Disney Park guest asked. “A few cast members were confused about it considering the app shows as closing at 10pm. A VIP tour guide walked by and said ‘Somebody hit the wrong button!’”

Strangely, Disney California Adventure Park didn’t follow up with another announcement explaining that it was actually open until 10:00 p.m., meaning that countless families could’ve lost two hours at the park without knowing they could’ve stayed.

“I’m surprised they didn’t make a correction announcement,” the Redditor continued.

In the comments, other Disney California Adventure Park guests shared their experiences with the early closure announcement. It was the pre-recorded closing message that plays every night at closing time, not a live announcement, but it still confused many Disney Park guests.

“Yes we were in Cars Land waiting for the sunset sha-boom and everyone was like what?!” u/DisneylandPlan wrote.

“Yeah it was sent too early and was a mistake,” u/rosariobono replied.

Although Disneyland Resort didn’t issue a correction after the early closure announcement on July 2, Disney California Adventure Park remained open until 10:00 p.m. Guests can always ask the nearest Disney cast member about any conflicting information during their visits.
