They need John Lasseter back. Also stop making woke films and get back to the kind of storytelling that makes you feel the range of emotions and when you leave the theater, you feel good.
John Lasseter was never Original story to anything Pixar.
not likely he could change that now. the Only film that had a back to back sequel was the Incredibles “The Underminer”. I still have that story/script. John Lasseter headed the team that took the sties and produced them as their own.
The best films that came out of Pixar are the first two Toy Storys. Pixar makes nothing but cheesy junk now. I cannot stand the humans character design in such films like Elio, Luca, Turning Red and Win or Lose. Pixar is pretty much dead to me.
Kudos to Pixar for original stories. Don’t love them all but having actually seen Elio, it was enjoyable and still has heart. I don’t necessarily love the style of human characters, but that’s true for pretty much everything not hand drawn. A bad opening weekend does not mean a poor film – depends on competition and what other things may be happening. See the film and hate it, that’s fine or don’t but don’t make judgements about actual content or story line based on trailer. Better than most live action remakes of animated films which certainly don’t improve on original.
Elemental was the best movie pixar had come up with in a long while! It was simple and pleasant and it does deserve a sequel. If it wasn’t for poor advertising and people paranoia with the pandemic it probably would have made a billion. Plus like me I would have gone to the theatre to see it instead of waiting until it hit cable to see this excellent movie. I now have two copies of the movie on DVD and look forward to seeing it Freeform. While turning red was also good I found Luca to be a bit of a snoozer. Lightyear, Onward were OK but I can’t stand the woke message they were trying to push. I have yet to see Soul or Elio so the jury is out on those two and with my last local theatre being knocked down to be made into condos no chance of seeing them soon! but I will say with no doubt in my mind Disney should make Elemental 2!
Elemental was still woke. Didn’t the water guy have a little nephew or cousin that wanted to be called non binary? Lightyear was NOT ok. Onward, Luca, Turning Red, Onward, Elio…their all cheesy junk with horrible human design.
Where they went wrong??? I can tell you where they went wrong in one word… WOKE! And once you go WOKE, you’ll eventually go broke. It must be nice to burn investors money.
I go to the theater frequently, and have ALWAYS attended for a Disney/Pixar film. So many people are saying “I won’t go because it’s woke,” which indicates to me that they never even saw any of the films. I have yet to be disappointed with any of the films, every one has entertainment value.

Cartoons should instead all be on free tv on saturdays mornings – instead of the News!!
