Good riddance. Fast pass worked. You could get on rides and enjoy the day. You could work out systems to ride more with less down time. My usual was to get a FP for Small World, get in the ride line anf get a FP for Roger Rabbit that would usually be good to use when I got off of Small World. The new system doesn’t usually work out for that now.
The majority of the backend infrastructure that isn’t directly tap station points a d control is run from Disney’s Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure, but out of the Oregon AWS data center. They designed a system that has large backend data heavy dependencies without any provision for local use caching of data. Your My Disney account runs w r is stored in Oregon. Not so bad for DLR, but horrendously bad latency for WDW. And considering WDW is by far a much larger operation this becomes the tech bottlenecks for mobile device use. Unfortunately, the backend isn’t what they can design changes into when building a 5th gate. The Lightning Lanes may get more ground space capacity and maybe they’ll bolt on a virtual queue system for every ride, but expect that to just be an extension of what already exists.
What they need is a backend tech overhaul. Redesigned for proper worldwide operations, local caching and management of data and proper robust data synchronization to keep it organized properly.
Disney went down a huge rabbit hole when they converted the fastpass+ system into Genie and Lightning Lanes that they show no signs of altering so don’t expect anything except more ground space for queues in a 5th gate.

They should 1st fill up 1/2 day Disney Studios park & make it a full day park – what a ripoff!
