Years ago at Epcot English Village Captain Hook came out and swept us off our feet as Hook said how are the Kalista’s doing today. Can I use Elizabeth
and Andrew as bait to catch the Crock. We were stunned and kids in awe as he knew the family. Learned latter it was a fellow teachers son from our school and was a tall intern character as Captain Hook. I knew who it was but told my family after we left Epcot. What an great experience.

So where exactly was a performer “indefinitely suspended”? I didn’t read one specific incident of this type of reprimand. Just a lot of What Ifs.

    1. You won’t if they want work anywhere else. That Disney contract protects Disney every employeee signs it .. my kids all worked there right before and right after Covid …those rules are there for a reason to protect children any character that does not understand this needs to not be a character. If they want internet fame by using the character is not the type of person that is there to enhance the child’s experience but use a character created by someone else and skewer people perception of a character they do not have any legal right to outside the park without supervision. It would be like a volunteer worker wearing your image to rob a bank. They do something bad as that character an Disney pays out$$$$

This title is very deceiving. No princesses are being removed

    3. ro

      Look it up

  3. It does not matter if found out by accident …if on purpose fired with blacklist, if accident they can be placed as a non character employee in another park. Disney is VERY serious about this anyone can say they are a character on line and lure children. Disney has been fighting this in park for decades that is why adults and kids over certain ages can not wear costume the park. If they change their position as parents you need to decide what line to draw for your children’s safety.

    1. ro

Yes it does matter if you found out finding out IS FINDING OUT and wants the Disney character have to do with the children’s protection

    That is so not right!

How was she waiting to meet Darth Maul in 1999… somebody needs to fact check these things

      1. Dee

Wdym? How would this not be accurate? Phantom Menace can’t out n May 1999. Darth Mauls first appearance at Disneyland was shortly before that, during the character introduction/hype building period.

      2. Michael

Yes. Although prior to Disney’s purchase of Star Wars, they did have portions of Star Wars and other non Disney films at Hollywood Studios in 1999.

      3. Shell

Star Wars weekends maybe? And dang do I miss it, I’d take Star Wars weekends over the Star Wars experience they have now. The dance off alone would be worth the trade off.

The way I look at it if Disney is not paying their employees a ton of money to basically stay in character even when they’re off the clock then screw Disney. No company should be able to control someone’s life off the clock (not being paid)

    1. Obviously you would never work there

    2. Scott

Where are you living.? Employers have rights to protect themselves, They do watch Facebook for things that could put them at risk. And my employers do drug testing, so yes they have a say over what you do on your time off

      1. Christopher Kidwell

We are living in the real world where numerous businesses have gotten in serious BANKRUPTING legal trouble trying to do this nonsense that Disney is apparently doing.

    3. Michael

They are not controlling employee outside of work. They are protecting their property and how they want it projected. They didnt say you couldn’t post pictures of yourself in costume. Just that you cant use your real name when doing so.

I am usually (99%) in favor of worker over company, but in this case its not a difficult or unreasonable demand to make.

Cost the employee $0 to do. Cost the employee 0% of time to do. Had 0% effect on employees daily life.

    4. Suzan

Do employees sign NDAs? Is so, then yes.

  6. Chewwy

This appears to just be AI slop with a punt fake title. Sad.

Please let me take you back to the 1970’s when I was a full time Disney character 40 hours a week, making about 2 bucks an hour.ha! I was mostly the Walrus from Alice in Wonderland, but over time I played over 20 different characters…outside of work I casually dated Alice and even the Mary Poppins characters and we all used to pull wild stunts and misbehaved, nowadays, everyone is too PC! Back then there was no social media or cell phones . I ever saw a prank where famous politician Henry Kissinger donned a straw hat, apron and vest and became a popcorn vendor on Main Street for a few minutes. How bizarre is that?

The solution to this issue is not to have a social media account and you won’t have any problems with people finding out who you are.

I work for the government and when I started there I had to go to a class about Facebook and what I could say and not say mainly no political or religious stuff. I barely go on Facebook and I don’t have any social media accounts.

  8. Marianne Seggerman

I posted on a Disney fan board the actual identity of my boyfriend’s niece instead of identifying her as a dear friend – for many years – of Minnie Mouse – and was soundly chastised. Now I know.

I went on a Disney cruise in 2012. They have the people who portray the characters also working other duties on the ship. So you would see snow white as a crew member helping out with other ship activities. Her face is very recognizable. Maybe on a ship they have less restrictions, otherwise you would only see the person as the character on board.

  10. Daniel

Simple solution. Once you become a character you suspend all personal social media accounts and make them private until your contract is over. Not very difficult to do.

  11. Mandy

Who the hell is Taffy? You mean Tally?

  12. Lisa

    *Tally the elf

Honestly, as an avid Disney adult, the last thing I care about is the real identity of the characters I interact with. When I am inside the park, my reality literally goes out the window and as far as I’m concerned, these characters are exactly who they say they are. I do act like a “fanboy” for some of my favorites and have even had others video my interactions with them because there is nothing more wholesome and innocent to me than getting a hug from Dug, Vanellope, or Aurora.

  14. Confused

Ummmmm I’m not seeing what park you’re talking about nor do I see anything about princesses being removed anywhere

  15. If you are ion til ton or instagram etc trying to figure out the charactor or calling it out yourself boo to you. You had your childhood. Let the ones coming behind you have a chance! Keep The magic for the next generation alive!

  16. Elizabeth

So they can break all of the other rules Walt Disney put into place keep the magic that is Disneyland or Magic Kingdom but oops someone finds out who is behind the mask and its termination. Guys can openenly wear dresses, weird colored hair, body piercings, tattoos visible on everyone. Rude behavior from cast is now the norm, The Disney way of customer service has been thrown out completely. The parts are as dirty as the state fair, food is just slightly above fair quality. O and of course disabled people are discriminated against but tricked into paying for entrance fee just to be denied minimal accommodations. Walt Disney name shouldn’t even be attached to these disgusting places anymore.

    1. Paula

You’re mad about the DAS because it went back to the original way it was? Too many people were abusing the system so it went back to how it was meant to be. Boo hoo.

Where I work, we are told that we represent “the brand” even when we’re off work. There were a couple of guys that were married but met up with each other at an adult only venue and they were both fired because everyone knew who they were and I guess cheating on their wives with each other out in public was not allowed. There have been people fired for social media posts and comments, even if they had nothing to do with “the brand.” I think it’s ridiculous that a job can ban your free speech, but I guess that’s what you get if you want to work there. The same goes for Disney. I’ve heard that they do sign an NDA. I knew someone that had to sign an NDA at a cookie shop because nobody wanted the recipes getting out.

  18. Magic Donut

Actually- Disney now discourages the use of “Friends with”.
