Great article! This was absolutely a scary ride, none of our kids would set foot in it. Another scary one for our little ones was “Bug’s Life” that used to be in the tree of life. Two reasons: 1) kids fear of critters, and 2) the special ‘creepy’ effects that popped up under you on the seats!
You really shouldn’t comment on how scary the ride was unless you experienced it. It really wasn’t that bad if you were an adult and had the smarts not to bring the kiddos on it. Unfortunately, many parents decided it was a good idea to bring their 6 yo on the ride.
I loved this ride, it was awesome. And i was disappointed when they shut it down. And I agree 100% with the commentor above, it was unfair for the parents taking their little ones on it to complain. Do your research before taking a child on a ride for the first time.
An incredible attraction with an incredible cast that should never have closed. One of my first actions after taking over Disney will be to bring it back to WDW and dig up the Tomorrowland 2055 plans for Disneyland and bring it to California as was part of the plans. To handle the angry parents who complain about its scariness, cast members will simply call them “Chicken” to make them snap and react like Marty McFly whenever someone else challenges his courage.
My family loved Alien Encounter. We went on it for the first time when the kids were about 10 and 12. We went later, when it had been lightened up to be less scary, but we liked the original, scary version better. Being from California, we were anticipating getting this attraction at Disneyland. Too bad it’s gone for good.
This was a great attraction! It was scary for the adults, and it did warn about bringing younger children on. It had some of the best monster sound effects ever.
Maybe they can find a home for it in the new Villains Land. I’d love to see it make a return.
I attended this when I was a kid with my sister and dad. We all loved it. I can understand why it was removed, it is scary for children and maybe for some adults, but it was so fun at the same time. Disney can have its scary rides too not just Universal.

I actually loved that ride. Yes it was scary but parents should have sense not to bring a child on it. Sorry to see it leave.
