He said it! Someone out there is listening! The ME is my #1 complaint!
Bob Chapek was…trying to be nice…reverting to “if you can’t say something nice…”
Just not at all what Disney needed. They are still digging out of the mistakes and over spending that he caused. Not to mention, you want to know where all the “perks” went…BOB has them in his garage.
Now here are some great ideas that did not pan out - or ideas that maybe should have gone before a Disney focus group prior to launch!
River Country was not bad in it’s time. I was there in 1986 and it was nice to actually have a waterpark associated with Disney. Nothing like todays waterparks but in it’s time - it got the job done.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser - well, here was a great concept that Disney was not able to pull off due to the expense. Not really sure how they didn’t see this one coming. Very immersive but at what cost? If you tracked the bookings, the only time they did really well was when they cut the cost and people knew it was going away. It was a sad but true decision that was not well thought out.
I enjoyed River County in its day it was a fun place to go. I am surprised they didn’t mention Discovery Island that was over in the same area as River Country.
Magical Express made your vacation SO much easier, and who doesn’t need that. Everyone I have discussed it with agrees that they would be willing to pay a fee for this service if offered. BRING IT BACK !!!
I agree. The entertainment that had an embedded educational approach at EPCOT was preferred. Basically, EPCOT CENTER promoted STEM before STEM was ‘cool’. Know we have water and a fictional space topic. :/
Gardians would be much better at a new park. Its like Space Mtn 2.0. It’s a ride. With only 8% WDW land developed there is room for a new park and new ideas.

Comments for The 5 Most Foolish Decisions Walt Disney World Ever Made
I have a few to add to the list - Ending Magical Express & hiring Bob Chapek as CEO

Ending the Magical Express was a huge mistake.
Disney Resorts will never really know the impact of ending the Magical Express. It was huge!

I’ll add the closing of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride to the list…
