This really isn’t that hard, put unique serial numbers on each bucket, make a limit per ID, put a condition on the sale that they will not resell for more than 5% above what they originally spent for x amount of time (make it long enough like 6 months to a year) plus actual provable shipping and handling costs. Then if a post goes higher than that, ban them from the parks for an appropriate amount of time or ban them from buying any limited edition merchandise and track it in the computer system.

Limit 1 popcorn bucket per person. Disney used to do that. Now they are letting you load up. And right now the Death Star buckets have saturated eBay – they’re not selling for more than $68 now. After eBay takes their cut, your profit is minuscule. The craze has passed, fortunately.

No resellers should be allowed, limited edition items need to be controlled so all have a chance to purchase at a reasonable price and not at a huge mark up so these people can line their pockets. The resellers ruin it for all the rest of us. When you see people buying wagon loads of all the same items its not hard to figure out……..they do not need 20 popcorn buckets or 20 of the same limited edition shirt or ears, or fill in the blank.

This is definitely not the first or last Disney item that is facing the same availability and collectible status as Hot Wheels, Funko Pops, Pokémon cards, even going into gaming consoles… some items being store exclusives, maybe even having limits on buying, it doesn’t matter, scalpers always find a way.

I guess I was lucky. I went into the park on Friday afternoon, and headed over to do rides at Galaxy’s Edge. After that, I went to see if they had the popcorn bucket. No problem and no line. I just wanted one and that’s what I got. I was surprised after seeing the earlier postings online.
