When I proposed to my wife in Cinderella’s Castle which was not preplanned I can’t tell you how the cast at Disney made us feel. There was so much “pixie dust” we couldn’t believe it. First off I had no plan. Not characteristic of me but the result of circumstances. I approached a cast member at the que line for the royal table restaurant and asked if there was a small space where I could do this. I even offered to use a closet! The cast member told me to come back in 45 minutes. When we returned he walked us in to the huge waiting room of the restaurant and he had held all the people in the que outside. We were walked to the other side of the room where Cinderella was waiting and with Cinderella as our witness I proposed in front of her and the cast member and his assistant. It’s a memory that we will never forget! But the pixie dust didn’t stop there! During our entire 10 days with the just engaged buttons we were given we never expected the royal treatment we received and so many cast members offered congratulations that I couldn’t count them all! The above story disturbs me because as adults we never expected the wonderful treatment we received but to one small child the magic wasn’t 100% there for them?
Oh no. I wouldn’t want to see one cast member bicker in front of another one. It may frighten myself & try to get out of the way until the melee cools off. I do want to maintain a calm cool atmosphere around me best I can & enjoy my meal with homemade Disney taste appeal.
The employee who gave the child the ice cream should be commended. The one who opposed this should be let go for her anti happiest place on earth attitude.
It sure sound like the cast members were partisans.
They have different rules the the regular cast members. As a former CM of 20+ years, usually if you want to make a magical moment, you go find a Mgr or ” lead” and especially if you want to give a free ” product “.
Yes sometimes there are things set aside for magical moments but this isn’t always the case.
Better trailing was lacking here.
If they gave ice cream to every kid that has a melt down they’d be broke. Yesterday in one park I saw dozens of kids screaming, no reason, not infants either, 4-5-6 yrs old. One we laughed at, screaming when parent looked at it,parent turned away & it stopped, just an attention getter. One father said to daughter, “ just keeping saying “I want everything” & didn’t stop to get the child anything.
When I hear things like this, it makes me happy I no longer work at DLR. Guests are treated great. Don’t go there and tell another cast member you are a cast member. You will be treated like crap.
I haven’t been to DLR in a couple of years, and I don’t miss it.

Ice cream could and should have been given out. No arguing about it. There is enough guests that make the Disney experience bad don’t add to it.
