Universal Orlando has begun a new ticketless entry procedure, one that seeks to make visiting its two Florida theme parks as seamless as possible.

As is the case with most, if not all, theme parks around the world, Universal Orlando Resort is constantly changing and looking for ways to improve the guest experience. While this often manifests itself in exciting new rides and attraction updates, other changes fly under the radar, though that doesn’t mean they aren’t exciting in their own way.

Earlier this week, Universal Orlando Resort officially started implementing a new ticketless entry procedure for guests, as first reported by Inside Universal. Officially called “Effortless Entry,” Universal aims to make visiting its two Florida theme parks as easy and seamless as possible.

Once guests use their ticket upon their initial entry, access to the parks will then be based on valid photo identification. Guests will be able to simply walk up to the turnstiles, scan their photos, and enter the parks. If there were to be a problem, a Universal team member would then simply scan a guest’s ticket like normal.

This doesn’t just include entry to the theme parks; it will also include access to various rides and attractions as part of Universal’s Express Pass.

Express Pass is an add-on service that allows guests to skip the line for a variety of rides and attractions. The service is offered in both regular and Unlimited options, with the latter granting unlimited skips.

The plan is to bring this new photo validation system to the Express Pass ecosystem, with select attractions already undergoing testing for this upcoming feature.

It’s expected that this new feature will be utilized parkwide with the opening of Epic Universe this summer.

This year marks a very exciting one for the Universal Orlando Resort, as Epic Universe is just a few months away from officially opening. First announced back in 2019, fans have been eagerly watching this brand-new theme park take shape, with Universal advertising Epic Universe as one of its most ambitious and impressive creations yet.

Not only will Epic Universe feature dozens of new rides, attractions, and experiences for guests to enjoy, but the new park will be split into several distinct lands, each one with its own vibe, atmosphere, and list of activities. Perhaps Epic Universe’s most anticipated area is Dark Universe, a land dedicated to Universal’s collection of classic monsters like The Invisible Man, Wolfman, and Frankenstein’s Monster.

Epic Universe officially opens on May 22, 2025.
