Short of expectations? I’m shocked it made that much

    1. Danny O.

      Same!

  2. Bruce

character roles were sadly reversed. Gal Gadot would have been outstanding as snow white. Zegler would be a perfect evil queen

Unfortunately, the movie won’t be judged on its own merits, but its controversies. Our family saw it and all loved it. But it won’t resonate with MAGAs with their White Replacement fears and the Queen’s regime resembling the current presidential one, but everyone else should enjoy it.

        And there’s the political bs

        1. S.C.D.C.W.

…which, as I have always said, has been Disney’s problematic way-forward in greenlighting their live-actions. Instead of taking great pride in their animated classics, they took the dark route of using these live-actions to ‘resolve’ problems which were never there to begin with. I will remain amazed for the rest of my life how this company turned on itself in such a manner!

        2. Stephanie

The political BS was already here. In fact, it practically fuels these threads. Essay is one of the few people to give a clear-eyed assessment of the hate being directed at a movie that the hate-mongers haven’t even seen because their political bias is driving their decision to avoid it. Meanwhile, people in these threads who HAVE seen the movie don’t seem to have bad things to say about it so far. Funny how that works.

Also, when another remake called Snow White and the Huntsman came out with a tweaked narrative, no one pretended that it was sacrilege for Disney to mess with one of its own classics back then, because no one was politically triggered by that movie. So yeah, the political BS exists. I see it every time someone badmouths this movie based solely on the controversies surrounding it.

    It’s simple…donmess with a classic!

  4. DCB

    It’s simple…don’t mess with a classic!

  5. Anne

45M?! That’s way too much! This betrayal to Walt Disney doesn’t deserve one dime!

  6. Tony McManus

Maybe the report should read “45 million paid to audience who suffered through it”

    1. Danny O.

      Wouldn’t surprise me.

  7. Dawn Keibals

This is actually a good movie. Ziegler is actually amazing in this movie. The underlying story of the movie is a daughter wants to do what’s right and maintain her father’s legacy. So dad’s who love their daughters should take them to see this movie.
Boycotting this movie and silencing Snow White’s voice is exactly what the Evil Queen would do.

    1. BD

she’s not white. Snow white. I wouldn’t take my daughter to this movie at gun point.

    2. Dave 62

A good father wouldn’t take their daughter to a miss leading woke movie, with under laying motives.

      1. Dawn Keibals

Watch the movie. The movie is about a girl who loses her parent and has to live with a witch who treats her awful and sends the towns people into famine. When she starts to stands up the with tries to have her killed. With help of dwarves and rebels she shows that kindness and empathy are a better way to live then evil. And she was born during a blizzard so her parents named her Snow White. Get over a Latin girl being a princess.

        1. Billy Madison

Soooooooo, this movie has nothing to do with the original 1937 classic? Then it should have been renamed and marketed as such. Just saying.

          1. Oh really

Would you get over a live action Tiana being cast with a white actress? Hmmmmm?
And how about seven little people actors who got done out of a job because one complained.
Reverence for the original doesn’t make you a racist.

          2. Aunt Polly

Firstly, I can’t blame any company for marketing their product with a familiar title that draws more attention, regardless of what the actual product is, because that’s just shrewd business strategy.

Secondly, I would absolutely get behind a white actress playing Tiana if the context calls for it. If Disney can concoct a narrative where such a thing makes sense – as they did with Snow White – then I support it. I can’t imagine how or why they would, but thankfully I don’t have to, since this is all conjecture anyway.

        2. S.C.D.C.W.

that’s not a remake of the classic animation. that’s just a remake of Mirror Mirror starring Lily Collins and Julia Roberts. At least they had the decency to give the role of the Seven Dwarfs to actual people who could make money out of it instead of insufferable CGI quick-fixes that didn’t make anyone any good, nor make the live-action live up to its name. It’s just puppets with good lighting.

          1. Aunt Polly

Since the CGI dwarfs were done via a process called “performance capture,” real people WERE used, in the same way that a real actor was used for Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies. Therefore, actual people did make money playing the dwarfs.

    3. Tony McManus

So they changed the race, reason she’s named Snow White and pretty much the entire storyline. Yep, the original cartoon has come to life. Well except the dwarves and the animals and the scenery.

      1. Brandon

Who needs the original cartoon to come to life? That would be pointless, frankly. A remake should be its own thing, or else why bother?

        1. Tony McManus

Well as pointed out by the reviews of this and all the others that didn’t stick closely to the cartoon, it stinks and the great majority don’t want it altered. It’s called nostalgia for a reason. Because it reminds you of your past. Otherwise just give it a different name.

        2. S.C.D.C.W.

that’s the whole point of making a live-action remake, or the current term of phrase, ‘reimagining’. If indeed it was not the point to make a true live-action version (which by all means need not be a frame-for-frame), then yes, the live-action should have had a whole different title, plot and characters altogether.

  8. BD

it absolutely met my expectations, to fail! lol. Disney hasn’t made a good movie since Avengers End Game. Get your head out of your arse and start making Christian content.

    1. Dave 62

      Aaaaaman bother!

  9. Stephen

Of course, Mufasa had a poro opening and went on to make over $700 million. We shall see.

  10. Pat

This is not a family film, it is a DEI leftist political movie dressed up in Disney clothing. The public is very very tired of leftist DEI propaganda and is voting with their feet to express their displeasure.

    1. Dawn Keibals

Leftist, meaning a Monarchy should support its people. Monarchy’s are very right wing. The movie shows this (along with other conservative tones) but it has a half Latin Girl. I’m guessing most of the people here have disliked her since she stood up to the Jets in WSS.

  11. Maria Severo

Zeigler is the reason this movie failed. Her comments about the original Snow White when she was interviewed and when they were on strike, destroyed how people now see her.

    1. David

I don’t like her, she is rude in real life and what she said about the original made me think twice about seeing this in the theater. That and changing the story and the characters to be more politically correct nonsense. Just stick to the original movie, it’s much better.

  12. Stephanie

Underperforming is not the same as failure. While it didn’t meet the company’s box office expectations for opening weekend, it turned out to be the #1 earner of the year so far, with Captain America now moving to #2. As of this weekend, it has a 43% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, and while that’s clearly not good, it’s nowhere near the abominable ratings of a true Razzie-worthy hot mess like Madame Web. Also, the audience score for Snow White, as of opening weekend, is far higher at 74%.

    1. Dawn Keibals

Thank you Stephanie. You sound like a reasonable person. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

      1. S.C.D.C.W.

        I love your reply!

  13. Han not solo

Snow white fell short of expectations. LOL it only fell short of Disney’s expectations. The American citizens knew it was going to bomb.
If Disney has not learned yet they never will. Quit messing with classic films and trying to make them woke.
To make a movie or princess appeal to other ethnic or other groups make them their own stories and princesses. Remaking them to fit is disrespectful to all. That’s like rewriting Walt Disneys life story and casting him as a person of color or rosa parks story and casting her part with a white woman.
You pay these writers big money, tell them to come up with original stories not remaking old ones. Don’t they have imagination and brains? If they can’t handle it, fire them and bring in writers than can

    1. David

Well said, quit pushing this stuff on us, we don’t want it or like it. As they stated above, write your own stories, quit ruining our classic and beloved characters and films. Make your own stories up and leave the originals alone.

      1. Captain Sarcasm

It’s so unfortunate that the original beloved classic is unavailable for you to access, because it was obviously ruined forever by this remake. Ever since this new version came along, you have been denied alternate versions and have to suffer through a painful lack of choices. I hope you make it through this difficult time.

  14. Jonathan

I love it! Will go again The music is amazing . Ziegler is awesome! Spectacular

    1. Brandon

I agree. She was damn good in this.

      1. Anne

Dear Dawn, Jonathan and Brandon, YOU’RE WEIRD, WEIRD.

        1. Dawn Keibals

Weird weird makes the world go round. If we were all blonde haired blue eyed and complied with the regime where would we be?

More honest comment – Zegler is a talented actress and was great here and West Side Story. If you could go in objectively to this movie you walk out at the end a happier person.

          1. Steve

Zegler has no talent at all and made Natalie Wood spin in her grave. Zegler’s behavior will result in the return of the old Studio System and Hollywood going back to its golden age in the 1930s and 40s. All movie stars will be put back under contract and literally owned by the studios again like MGM which will return to its former glory as the dream factory with “more stars than there are in the heavens” again. Where Clark Gable became the King of Hollywood and where Judy Garland dreamed of a land Somewher Over the Rainbow as Dorothy Gale. The incomparable Louis B. Mayer would’ve never tolerated Zegler’s behavior which would be like Judy ripping L. Frank Baum whom she had nothing but reverence for. I am looking forward to Zegler taking part in a mass walkout of stars over the return of the Studio System and screaming how she is “not a commodity” and would rather never act again.

          2. Stephanie

Weird does indeed make the world go around, as Steve just proved.

          3. Steve

No it doesn’t. Homogeneity, conformity, discipline, and uniformity make the world go round.

          4. Spank You Very Much

            You had me at “discipline”!

    2. Tony McManus

Perhaps if they changed the name and her outfit it would’ve been better.

  15. Kevin

    You don’t say? Shocker there.

  16. Larry Aldridge

I’m not sure why everyone is up in arms over this movie? I have not seen it… but some things are kind of strange like why in the heck are the dwafes bigger than Snow White? They look like the 7 giants.

  17. Chad

Controversial casting choices aside, this is actually the second live action remake of Snow White as I recall that like The Jungle book, there was a remake in the 1990’s as well. In that case, this feels a bit unnecessary. And there’s many like me who’d rather see these live action remakes cease as it’s at the expense of animation.

Even if the story isn’t a world stopper, or the best thing since sliced bread, I’d rather support the just-released Looney Tunes film which is animated. We need to send a clear message that animation (especially traditional animation) is both timeless and for all ages.

  18. Rick

    Go woke. Go broke

  19. Anne

Anybody who likes Zegler and this filthy movie is just as garbage as she is.

    1. Spank You Very Much

I prefer the term “White Trash-American.” Please try to be politically correct and avoid trigger words, k-thanks-bye.

  20. Terri Jennings

I took my daughter to see this and did not have high expectations. Wow! Was I WRONG! It was absolutely AMAZING!!! I would go see it again. Really really good!!! Both Zegler and Gadot were incredible!!!

    1. Stephanie

It just goes to show, the people badmouthing this movie are people who haven’t seen it and refuse to see it for political reasons. Those of us who HAVE seen it actually enjoyed it. Empirical evidence is still a valid thing in this crazy world.
