I have two friends whose college graduate kids were denied jobs because of DEI policies. Both were in the top 10% of their classes. Too bad they were white. In one case, the graduate hired in their place was out of the company by the end of the year for their inability to do basic business. Sooooooo….they hired another underperformer who isn’t doing any better !!! No wonder the business is losing contracts !!!

In a local school, the STEM class was all white and Asian students even though the enrollment was slightly over 50% black. On the other hand, the atheletics departments were almost entirely black. Less that 17,000 pro football players, 2 million college players, 17 million high school players (???) Screw the odds…play football.
Obviously they don’t know what DEI covers. It’s not about giving positions to unqualified people who fall under a certain heritage. LEARN THE FACTS!! In a survey of cities based in available stats in 2019 (FBI and other government agencies) my city was in a 8 way tie for 137 out of 160 !!! What changed ??? The demographics ! As a past employer (and a conservative) I was always looking for the best person to fill a position. I hired from every ethnicity, handicapped, male, female and “other”. And by no means did I want to be told I had to hire a certain percentage of black, hispanic, etc etc. That to me is the actual discrimination.

Imariel, I am a victim of affirmative action. I was drafted (low number) while in one of the top engineering schools in the country (Carneigie Tech). I was on a full scholarship. I was told I could resume it when I got out. When I tried to reenroll, I was told I couldn’t get my scholarship back because they didn’t have enough minorities and women in the school, let alone on scholarships. HOW FAIR WAS THAT ??????
I couldn’t get into medical school due to affirmative action/Bakke Decision. They took persons of color with lower GPA’s than mine instead. I was told I’d have to go to Guadalajara or one of the islands instead.

Good news! I borrowed Steve’s time machine and added…
…”Heterosexual” to the “preference” list on applications — so heterosexuals can be equal with everyone else.
…”Male” to the “gender” list on applications — so males can be equal with everyone else.
…”Whote/Caucasian” to the “ethnicity” list on applications — so white people can be equal with everyone else.
…And it was tricky; but I also found a way to add average people to the “social status” list. This way, regardless of $60,000 annual income or less, one could be equal with everyone else.
What can I say to MAGA, except, “You’re welcome!”

Imariel, I am a victim of affirmative action. I was drafted (low number) while in one of the top engineering schools in the country (Carneigie Tech). I was on a full scholarship. I was told I could resume it when I got out. When I tried to reenroll, I was told I couldn’t get my scholarship back because they didn’t have enough minorities and women in the school, let alone on scholarships. HOW FAIR WAS THAT ??????

I couldn’t get into medical school due to affirmative action/Bakke Decision. They took persons of color with lower GPA’s than mine instead. I was told I’d have to go to Guadalajara or one of the islands instead.

While people may say hiring needs to be made based on merit and not on the color of their skin or gender, I can guarantee jobs in STEM, will be biased towards men. Even when a female has better qualifications and great work history .
