I have been going to Disney since I was 10. I was born in 1961. It’s time for a change. A lot of these rides were there for a very very long time. If people can’t accept the changes then don’t go to Disney world. I went there for a long time. I’m now 63 . I don’t go anymore because of health issues. I really need to get back in shape in case my great nephew goes when he comes of age. He is only 15 months.
Just a small editorial correction : there was never anything controversial about Song of the South or Splash Mountain, ever. If there was, there wouldn’t still be a Splash Mountain at Disneyland….or Tokyo, for that matter. Oh sure, weird people kicked off about it on social media. That isn’t the same as the real world though.
The more sophisticated something gets, the more likely it is to break down or have problems. Sure the old ride was more reliable early on, but in it’s latter days it sure had it’s share of breakdowns and non-working animatronics. Once, my son and I were on the ride after a late morning shutdown and reopening. There was no lighting and no sounds at all except the water and the moving parts of the animatronics. Really very creepy. When we docked and unloaded, we told the cast members at the dock, they had no idea that was happening. Really??!! Haven’t been on Tianna’s yet as we moved out of state right before it opened in Anaheim. Let ’em work the bugs out and we’ll take a trip.
You do know that most of the animatronics from “Splash Mountain” was recycled from “America Sings” right? “America Sings” which was a show in the revolving theater across from the Autopia Cars, ran from 1974 to 1988. That means animatronics close to 50 years old work better than the ones created currently. What does that suggest?
I hope it keeps happening. Should have never got rid of something the majority of the WORLD likes. No is like I want to go to Disney World and ride woke mountain, but people sure did say that about splash mountain. What happen to Disney is just sad.

No controversy, admits there was controversy. Brilliant.
