Sounds like they upgraded to at least a moderate resort because the value resorts like the all-stars don’t have hot tubs.

Disneyworld is always overcrowded and they don’t care. You can’t move when near a ride or a restaurant. No longer fun to go, and you’re lucky to get on 3-4 rides for those prices and aggravation. It was much better 10 years ago. I’ll never go again even if it was free.
We had a horrible trip and went during a supposedly slow week in January this year.

    1. I think you’re right. There’s just no getting around the crowds now. One answer might be is for Disney to start building other Disney World’s or theme parks in other states, or areas of the country! That could help everyone. And be revenue for other states too! That might help elviate the mass over crowding at the Orlando Disney Word. Then, maybe more Floridians could enjoy their Disney World!! They should consider that for sure!

The problem with kids and their parents these days. Entitlement and no respect for anyone.

Totally agree with Han not solo

        You’re exactly right !

Another tip – if you identify the gym of the people that are causing issues (athletes and parents), you can and should report them to the organizers of the event. It produces a lot of downstream feedback for both gym owners, parents and athletes.

    1. Perfect answer

This is an effective way to cause consequences for many people who are part of a big group. It works for hotels who have to deal with kids’ sports teams (you’ll understand if you’ve ever been at a hotel with those people), conventions, and (gag) cheer teams. Absolutely report them.

CAN’T BLAME THE KIDS, THEIR MOMS ARE THE ONES who “raised” them to be that way!!!

    1. Christopher Gurin

So, no consequences for the kids, really?
Yes the parents should be held to account as well, but I believe security should intervene and retain the intoxicated children, with perhaps an interview with state and local child welfare authorities (though what that might mean under marque Desantis, who knows). Maybe a shame posting on Disney ‘s Facebook page might restore order.

    2. Jayne

You most definitely can blame the kids! They know right from wrong! They are just spoiled brats by those parents! They think thier entitled but they are just self centered spoiled brats !

    3. Lil debbie

Please kids no right and wrong the bunch is wrong. I find it amazing they weren’t escorted off the property myself. I think the teams they were part of should not be invited back for 4 years. We are too lienent when it comes to consequences.

My family and I blundered unknowingly into a “cheer comp” invasion many years ago, and it seems nothing has changed. The cheerleaders, and their “parents”, justified nearly every negative cliche and stereotype: the teenaged girls were obnoxious, many visibly intoxicated. Their parents, arrogant and entitled, and Disney security indifferent or AWOL Our vacation was ruined because Disney was more concerned about big booking revenue streams than individual park guests.

You are either a “special” person or some middle school kid who doesn’t know anything with this level of overly simplified and fairytaled analysis. But good for you skippy you tried!

You didn’t even mention the 2 biggest cheer competitions by far – Summit (D1) and Worlds. They are back to back and some parents sat for both! It’s insane. Far too often the stress of these big comps spill over into the resorts and parks. Look up NCA 2025 for an example of how things can quickly get out of control.

    Resort shut down? Not exactly……

  8. We un knowingly booked our Disney Vacation Twice with the cheer comps. Horrible these entitled little brats were obnoxious and rude. Pushed my four yr old grandson off the bus . The parents are worse. The first time they were running into people with strollers on purpose. Hogged the hot tubs at the hotel. Ii will NEVVER go to DISNEY with these rude , entitled brats and parents again. In fact wasnt happy with out vacation. We booked near the pool . They closed it . Garbage cans overflowing and not cleaned up. I spend 20,000 for our vacation . Not sure i will ever go back and i love Disney.

Even at one of the All Star resorts and taking our family to and from the parks these people acted like they owned the buses/shuttles with extremely rude and obnoxious behavior!! Myself and my family have been coming to Disney for 20ish years and have NEVER SEEN or encountered the disgusting and disrespectful behavior as we saw this year!!

  10. Linda Marchini

Myself and my family have been and stayed at all star sports, and other resorts when the cheerleaders have been there and we have never had any problems.
It is unfortunate that a group of parents possibly had to much to drink and took it upon themselves to make up rules.

The mere thought of being at a Disney park with a bunch of cheer teens makes my skin crawl. A bunch of overstimulated, self-absorbed twits who break out in cheers in line? I’d rather hit myself in the head with a hammer.
I go to DL (West Coastie) and always plan trips to avoid things like this, and Grad Nights as well.

I was at Animal Kingdom and a mother was taking pictures of the cheerleaders doing lifts and blocking a narrow walkway. Cast Members ignored the safety issue of other guests. Finally, a cast member talked to them.

As a mom of a high school cheerleader who attended the UCA National High School Cheer Competition this February in Disney, I HIGHLY disagree with a lot of these comments andfeelthe need to speak up! Our team stays together as a team with their coaches and chaperones at their UCA appointed resort. These resorts are blocked off by Disney almost a year in advance for these teams to stay in with other teams and coaches. The resorts are chosen for their prices, size, and ability for the teams to be able to practice if necessary. I don’t know how people who are not participating or attending these events are able to book these rooms as they are not “open” to families and friends until shortly before the event. In any case, these teams work hard months in advance, competing for the chance to compete at Nationals, while attending school and also cheering for their school sport teams, and participating in community events and absolutely deserve this moment!
When we went to visit our daughter and have dinner with her during the team’s “down” time, sure it was crowded and loud and a bit chaotic, but it seemed like the teams were getting along and just having fun! We did not encounter any unruly behavior with any of the teams our entire stay.
PLEASE do not generalize and group all cheerleaders as rude and obnoxious! Just because some – mostly those staying with their own families it seems – act a certain way, it’s not all of them! We have encountered loud, rude, screaming groups carrying large flags, pushing people out of their way who were not cheerleaders or dance grps, but would not say everyone who looks or talks like them are horrible people! Maybe the next time you plan your stay you can ask a castmember if anything is going on at that time and where the best place for you to stay would be? The cheer teams and dance groups pay their way, and deserve to be there and compete for what they’ve worked hard for!

    1. Paula

I can honestly say that I’ve never in my life been around a group of cheerleaders that were not obnoxious, loud, and usually rude. And I’ve been around a lot of cheer teams. I thought acting entitled was some sort of requirement to be a cheerleader.

I think when you are booking a room you should be fore warned that a competition of that size is being held on those same dates that you are looking at. We’ve been there when they had the competitions there before and it can be a challenge at times. Rudeness and ignorance comes along with large groups at times, where are the chaperones to help keep the few “wild ones” from going overboard with their actions. Act accordingly, you are representing your school not a frat house

  15. Ann

If I call the resort that I’ve booked, will they tell me if there are any of these competitions going on or any huge groups staying there when I’m going to be there?

I’d like to share a positive experience from being on property during cheer competition. Inside Magic hardly ever does stories of positive experiences anymore, rather focusing on sensational headline grabbing negative ones. But here’s a positive story from cheer week. It was when my daughter was very young at one of her earlier trips to WDW. Like all kids of her age, her favorite rides in Magic Kingdom was “It’s a Small World” and “Peter Pan”. It was our last day in the parks and we wanted to maximize our final day in Magic Kingdom with whatever rides our daughter wanted to end her magical trip upon. But our final day was a Saturday and crowd levels which were low all the previous week suddenly found ourselves in heavy crowds and long waits. So my wife & I decided to split to maximize our time. She would take our daughter onto “Small World” and I would go wait on the line for “Peter Pan”. We figured they would get to ride and finish then meet me as I got closer to the front of the line for Peter Pan. A great plan based upon the wait times for both in a very crowded park. An hour or so later as I was slowly getting closer to the front of the line for Peter Pan, I had not seen or heard from my wife who should now be done with Small World and looking for me. I’m 6’2″ and easy to spot in a crowd. I kept calling her cellphone, but no answer (turned out due to crowd noise she could not hear her ringtone). I was able to spot them in the crowd between Small World & Peter Pan looking everywhere for me but where I was. I began to yell out for my wife, Sue, but with the sea of crowds she could not hear me. I was getting so close to the front of the line and I was feeling hopeless and disappointed if we ended our trip not giving our daughter that final ride of Magic before heading to the airport home. But my savior came from one of Cheerleader Captains who was on the Peter Pan line just behind me. She saw my frustration yelling out over the crowd noise to get my wife or my daughters attention. The teenage cheer captain asked me if she could help. I told her my plight and my frustration calling both cell & yelling out… the cheer captain smiled and said we can help… stepping up and looking back at her fellow cheer squad on the line, she said “Okay girls… on the count of 3, let’s get Sue’s attention….

1….2….3…. in one unified enthusiastic loud voice, the entire cheer squad yells out…. “Sue!… Sue!!… SUE!!!!”

Incredibly, what seemed like the entire section of Fantasyland, lifted their heads, got quiet, just for us, as my wife & daughter now focused their glaze to where I stood on-line right next to the 30 or so cheerleaders yelling out her name.

What a truly magical moment in Disney… not from the park, not from the rides or the characters…. but from the fellow guests. And not just any guests…the teen cheerleaders who were there in Disney for their competition.

I really hope hearing a story of good in the parks is something that you wanted to hear more than the negativity.

I’ve had the unfortunate time of being on property during one of these competitions. The so called chaperones are too busy trading stories, at the top of their lungs to be heard over the pack of screaming childer they are supposed to be controlling, the cheer brats think they are the most important thing in the hotel and park. They are out of control and NO one enjoys that so called energy unless they are part of the mess. Either get them to stop screaming, pushing, shoving and making a general mess..or put them over in wide world of sports and keep them out of the rest. Other groups can come in without causing this level of entitled chaos. So either learn or get gone.
