We used to ride the Matterhorn Bobsleds every time we went to Disneyland. They’ve always been fun, some rough turns and jerks sometimes but still lots of fun. BUT after they changed out the bobsleds the new ride is so UNCOMFORTABLE and downright PAINFUL. WE DO NOT LIKE THE NEW AND PAINFUL CHANGES THEY MADE AND SADLY CAN’T RIDE IT ANYMORE!
For my advancing age, I have to forgo this iconic ride, forever.
I can tolerate anything at 6 flags and other Disneyland attractions, but, sadly, I’ve ridden this for the final time.
I agree. I understand that oversized people can’t ride this ride well, if at all, but my son, who is 6’4’ and very thin, had a difficult time riding. I was in a front car, and was screaming in pain and was nearly pitched out of my seat. Please go back to the toboggan-like cars like used to be on Splash Mountain, so that everyone can enjoy this iconic ride once more.
I waited my whole life to get to Disneyland and in 2023 I made it at 71yrs thanks to my daughter. I and my daughter and 2 Granddaughters went on this ride. Yes it was Jerkybut we laughed all the way down and worth the wait..
I’m surprised they didn’t mention why it hasn’t been fully revamped. Due to the new building codes, they can’t just redo the entire ride because they would be forced to bring the Matterhorn mountain up to code and doing so would require removing the entire thing and starting over. So, they do tweaks instead of a full revamp.
That’s why Disney should just tear it down and replace with the Seven Drawfs Mine ride @ DWorld or some new mountain type ride. They milk Frozen for some more ideas. Ohhh, here’s and idea that’ll make the CEO cream, Stitch’s Frozen Adventure with Baby Yoda.
Wah Wah Wah. I got motion sick on Mission space – guess what I did not ride it anymore. Problem solved. Don’t like the ride don’t go. These are probably the same cry babies that were offended by Pirates and Peter Pan.
Now 57, the last time I rode it was 10 years ago and it was great. Are the people complaining either overweight or have backneck/joint problems or inadequate warnings?
Space Mountain was always rough on me in the dark. Smooth coaster, but jarring from surprise.
It’s always been a bit bumpy. But since they replaced the sleds you sit much higher and more upright and I feel like that causes your top to whip around more.
I still ride it at least once a visit, but yeah it’s rougher now.
I liked it. Yes a little yerky but had a great ride. Why do people get on it after reading the signs telling you about it. Instead of complaining about it just pass it by.
Walt wanted an authentic experience. I you watch the camera footage of the bobsleigh event at the Winter Olympics you will quickly see and appreciate the realism of the Matterhorn. Several years ago they changed to polyurethane wheels and wimped out the ride. People complained that it was too smooth. The left side track is rougher than the right side.
I agree 💯 my wife has never been to Disneyland and would still ride it and she has back, neck and leg problems don’t see her crying. Can’t wait to take her plus I rode it since I can remember when they had the old bobsleds. I worked at California adventure back in 05 so yeah I still love it
I’m older and have nonissues with it. Yes it’s a pain to get in and out but if you have ever ridden a wooden roller coaster this is nothing. Coming from the Cedar Point area in Sandusky ohio…this is not even much of a roller coaster. It’s the Cali people who can’t handle it. If you don’t like it don’t ride it. They even give the precautions ahead of time.
Who are the pansies complaining about Disneyland’s Matterhorn ride?
If you are one of those, please do not ride the park’s steam train. The clackaty-clack of the rails may bring on early dementia.
I love the Matterhorn and enjoy it. It may need to be tweaked I’m guessing for some discomfort in other guests. I just home they don’t close it down completely because it’s one of my reasons for going to Disney.
I Never have been a fan of any rollercoaster ride at any theme park. However if others enjoy them have at it. I have not been on the Matterhorn in over 30 years . Disney should make the adjustments if the ride needs to be made safe or uncomfortable. But if your’e on the plus size, older in age , or have pre-existing health issues then maybe its time to find a new ride. However in no way so this ride be replaced it’s part of the Disneyland experience and has been for decades.
When I was a wee younger, Space Mountain was just finished and they were giving tours of the inside with the lights on. The tour guide noted that it could go much faster, but Disney is a theme park and it is for kids mostly, so it was slowed on intent and would never go any faster..
Rode it many years and then a few years back I went, and they had the thing turned so fast and jerky it literalluy ripped my artificial hip out of joint and that made for one heck of of a few days.
Should have know as there was maybe an omen.. Right before that, I think it was in future world, which now looks dated and rusty, we were walking along side one of the buildings and CRASH came down this big metal leaf.. Musta weighed 300 lbs I am guessing, It ripped a bag of goodies right out of my hand, if I had of been 6 inches or so closer to the wall, I likely would be telling a much different story,.
I use to go all the time, I have not been back since. The whole experience in other ways too, kind of felt like the Universe telling me to let it go.
It is all about the 2012 bobsleds! The previous sleds were fine. Once they installed the third lot … 😱 it’s been a nightmare! What monkeys did they hire to design them?! GET RID OF THEM!!
I can’t do this ride no more. I’m 6’3, 49 years old. I’ve been coming to Disneyland since the 1980s. It was my favorite ride, but now I just have to watch others enjoy. The seats and bumps ruin my body. Sucks getting old and frail.
The first time I went to Disneyland, the Matterhorn were rough. Latter on they refurbished it, and new carts. It was great, but with age, some rides do need either new tracks or better carts. Now the ride in WDW Expedition Everest is very smooth. But Space Mtn is WDW has shown it’s age and that is a rough ride. Rock n Roller in WDW is also smooth and not excessive jaring. Disney Adults should just know about some of older coasters.
Why, does it seem that everyone is a wimp, these days? I was an Imagineer, and Animator, and it’s supposed to be bumpy!!!! Have you ever gone down an icy toboggan ride in the snow? That’s what we aimed for. No one used to complain about this before. While I agree, the original single file Toboggan cars straddling the bench, were superior, and designed for the track, and should be returned! It’s supposed to be rough, it’s part of the fun!!
matterhorn ride for over 55 year olds requires thick soft pad for lower back in bobsled seats . The joke says wait in line 1 hour to ride matterhorn, next day wait in line 1 hour at doctors office.
Honestly, if Disney wants to refurbish older rides and/or build new ones they should start considering that some of the guests that ride the rides are taller than 5 feet. I’m 6’1. I wouldn’t be able to ride the Matterhorn in Disney Land. At least most of the rides at Disney World are made for all heights.
I have an issue with my right knee that stiffens and wont bend easily sometimes. I hadn’t ridden the Matterhorn since the sled change. I started to get onto the ride but the seat space was very cramped and my knee didn’t want to bend quickly. The CM manning the ride was impatient to get the ride going and I had to disembark very quickly. It was embarrasing. Sadly, I won’t try to ride it again unless the bobsled design is made more user friendly.
It used to be a favorite of mine.🎢😢
I can handle the ride… but getting in and out if it and the sitting position has become difficult for me now that I am in my 60’s. But my special needs son wants to ride it all the time and I can’t have him go alone. So 6’1 me has to contort myself on to the bobsleds. I think they should just tear it down and replace it with Expedition Everest.
It was OSHA standards this attraction. Those new rides vehicles are awful and hug your body and make you feel all those bumps. The old vehicle (albeit could have used the updated seat cushion were meant to help you move your body to the curves and turns. Now you’re locked in and your body suffers.
I remember the last time I rode it, about 8 years ago, maybe (?) during the ride — and the pain — I was thinking “this is the last time I’m riding this…”. So sad, because I love rollercoasters, but this one and Space Mountain are just not worth the pain. I’ll have to stick to Incredicoaster.

I do NOT arise the Matterhorn any more as it hurts my back. When I was 3 it was great but not 60 years later

Agree new sled design is not for anyone taller than 5 feet. Takes a long time just to get out of the thing

This is just another example that management and ownership is to blame for company failures. We see this all the time in sports also.

I agree the bobsleds are extremely rough and jerky. Very uncomfortable and can easily cause injury’s

Its the people that are used to the new roller coasters that glide like ice skates. They can’t handle old school classic coasters.

No force you guys to get on that ride

This why I don’t ride Space Mountain anymore. Too risky as I get older. I hope the ride gets redone into something better.
Frank
I have to keep my feet firmly planted while holding on to both hand rails, elevate my bottom (during many twists and turns) this helps me quite a bit
Jeff
I’m 67 years old, 6 foot tall and I’ve never had any issues with Bobsleds or Space mountain. Don’t know what your issues are….
Jenna
I love Matterhorn! That’s the whole point of it, is jerky and wild.
Christi
This is the exact reason why I also avoid the Indiana Jones ride. Very uncomfortable, bumpy and jerky.

I’m 55 and fat. I LOVE the Matterhorn. It’s by far my favorite ride at Disneyland Resort. It just takes me a minute to get out of it. 🤣

We skip this one. Last road it in my 20’s and it was too hard on my body then. There’s no way I’m going on it moving into my 40’s.
