‘What Even Is It Anymore?’ Guests Rue the Downfall of Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Comments for ‘What Even Is It Anymore?’ Guests Rue the Downfall of Disney’s Hollywood Studios

A wide street lined with tall palm trees and vintage buildings evokes a classic Hollywood setting, much like the magic felt during the best time to arrive and leave Disneyland. The sky is partly cloudy with a soft, warm light illuminating the scene.

Hollywood Studios have nothing to do with the film lot, anymore. Animal Kingdom soon to follow — as animals are being replaced with overflow from the IP park. Magic Kingdom has lost its magic. Does Epcot still have their “around the world” theme?

Have you even been to the park? I don’t think any animals are being replaced anytime soon at Animal Kingdom. Sounds like a comment from somebody who has never been or at least not in the last decade to a Disney park but yet has an opinion on it lol

I loved Hollywood studios, it was one of my two very favorite parks. I loved the Muppets 3d, tower of terror the great movie ride. The backlog tour and all the little shops. It was always a place to look forward to. Now it might as well be bulldozed down and forgotten. I love Dosney (have since I was a little kid) but now it’s just sad and disappointing. Out with the new and back to the old and loved!

I always dreamed of talking my whole family back to Disney including my grandchildren. As my children grew up we made many enjoyable trips to the park and many fond memories, of rides and shows without huge lines and expensive extra fees for faster lines . I cannot imagine taking a child and making them wait for hours for a ride I love my grandchildren too much to but them through that. I also have to say that the price of a day at the parks are not worth it , what kind of company rips people off like this, and still call their park the happiest place on earth

AMEN! Add to that wokeness. Disney has been run by people who are “executives” hired to maximize profits rather than what Walt and even Eisner (early on) did which was create a place for people/families to come and enjoy together without being raped for cash and preached to by men in dresses in Bippity Boppity Boutique. This began some time ago. Paul Pressler was one who began this process. But the Dark Lord over it all Bob Iger. Who builds extravagant luxury sailboats for himself off the ashes of Disney. What they need to do is find a “commoner” who has a love for Disney rather than some perceived expertise based on the number of useless degrees they have!

And this is the exact reason why when I take over Disney I will undo everything since Paul Pressler and restore the “What would Walt do?” way of thinking that ran Disney for decades after his passing. And before anyone says, no that philosophy did not almost sink Disney in the 80s. I will ask that question when making all my decisions for Disney even if the bean counters scream otherwise.

The lack of vision and imagination at Hollywood Studies is emblematic of Bob Iger’s lack of artistic creativity. Iger doesn’t get Walt’s theming and storytelling and commitment to excellence, and it shows. I am hopeful that the new CEO has this skill set or has the wisdom to copy Disney’s most successful leadership models of the past and have a business CEO (like Roy O Disney) and an artistic visionary (like Walt Disney), rather than one leader trying to do it all and being too vain to admit they can do better.

I go to Disney almost every year and I absolutely love it as do millions of other people. They obviously know what they are doing. Also you know they’re not a non-profit correct? Obviously their business model is working because the parks are crowded all the time.

Wrong about everything. You have never been to a Disney park. They are ghost towns. But they won’t be when I take over, erase the whole Iger era and make Disney great again by taking it backwards to the 20th century, making it stagnant and never changing.

Things change and it’s fine. There are obviously millions of people who love what Disney is doing because the parks are always crowded. I hate these articles and comments about people crying about what Walt would want. It doesn’t even matter what he would want he’s dead and not part of the Disney corporation. They obviously are doing something right. If you don’t like it, then don’t go. It’s not going to hurt their bottom line.

    1. Steve

No it’s not fine and Disney’s bottom line is in the red. Change is bad and when I take over Disney the parks will stop changing unless they go backwards. I will make Disney great again by bringing back the “What would Walt do?” way of thinking that ran Disney for decades after his passing. If I don’t like what a company does, I take it over and make it great again by going backwards

I agree. I used to really enjoy Hollywood Studios, my favorites were Backlot Tour and Great Movie Ride. At this point since I’m not a huge Star Wars or Toy Story fan, Hollywood Studios is barely a half day park for me these days.

Loved Hollywood Studios when it first opened – wonderful! Although there are interesting aspects still there, it’s just a hodge podge instead of a magical land.
