Why didn’t Disney just create a Pixar gate 15 years ago? They had enough IP to start one back then and everywhere they try and shove a lot of Pixar stuff into the park it seems weird and doesn’t do all that well because it doesn’t really fit in. A Pixar gate though would be a great place for young kids to start their Disney journey. Everywhere they’ve put Pixar stuff seems bizarre for the most part, now they want to do Cars in Frontier Land? Indiana Jones would be a better choice for Frontier Land, and leave dinosaurs at Animal Kingdom, do none of them have children? My son spent years obsessed with dinosaurs, I wasn’t as obsessed but loved the ride they had with them when I was a kid and loved that they had expanded it to be more when my son was young. I was an adult by the time they had the bugs life playground and thought that was immensely cool, but it was in a strange place. There should be Toy Story themed stuff, that’s tremendously popular IP. I could see a young kids version of a haunted house (more fun than than scary) using monsters Inc. IP. There is so much stuff they could do with a Pixar gate. Instead they’re cashing out on the profits without making any major improvements and while getting rid of things that parents and adults (the people who are paying), who once visited as children, still love and have an emotional connection to.

I agree. Advantage goes to WDW over UO in terms of land. There is enough to keep large amounts of green space and still build six more large parks. Also, the two water parks should keep the same spirit as in, cater to younger children. WDW needs to build a new water park using current designs and concepts. Volcano Bay is a good starting point for ideas on what WDW could build on. I’m all for improving the MCO airport.

  2. As a resident who goes through MCO frequency , I have no idea what DeSantis means by this. It’s not difficult to get your baggage. It’s usually coming out the delivery when I get to the baggage claim. It’s pretty efficient the way it is. Sounds like a waste of tax payer money.

Agreed…..DeSantis spends money like it is his rather than ours! $650 MILLION to help people ‘feel comfortable’ smhid

      1. Terry

That’s what he always done using our taxes to make him self look good or presidential

  3. Seems a bit confusing

    Wow thanks, Ron. You’re a swell guy.🤣🤣🤣

He needs to keep his nose out of Mickey’s place!

So the article is framed like he’s doing something negative that will hurt the disney experience. Then it’s that he’s investing in infrastructure to improve the experience and people still complain. I live in Orlando and this is a good thing. And all the people complaining will never be happy. Desantis could come to their house and hand them a stack of cash personally and they would still find a way to be incensed lol.

Nice article, but it doesn’t tell you anywhere what exactly he is planning for the baggage area. I have traveled into MCO on a number of occasions, and I have never had a hard time getting my luggage. Just more wasteful spending g if you ask me.

Actually, MCO has a bad reputation as a below average Airport experience. Lines are always long and confusing to traverse both getting in and out. Please bring some experts in, we deserve a World Class Airport!

Raising the flag for the day of inauguration during a period of national morning for a former President was wrong. As an independent voters I really don’t care for either party but I absolutely honor and respect the office that the top man holds. Disrespectfull DeSantis would not have done that if it was Reagans morning, just another show of power. Wish we could all get back to respecting and looking out for each other and stop this petty Tit for Tat.

It was federal not just Florida genius

Registered as “non-partisan” — and I agree that it was a tacky & disrespectful course of action. Why did he do this? To suck up to the man he worships. I doubt he really cares about Disney at all.

Well…he does, NOW. Now that Iger has started praising President “convicted felon Donald J. Trump” as well. And ItM reporting this as something that makes DISNEY better? I guess the airport directly effects Disney & Universal.

In mid-February, I’ll be on a non-stop flight from the west coast to Orlando (and then to Disney). It’ll be interesting to see if this “impact” makes the trip better. The last time I did this was 2018. I don’t recall the airport impacting my Disney trip then. So, I doubt I’ll find THIS trip any different (other than how much more expensive and with less disability rights).

It was a correct thing to do given the circumstance. Trump was inaugurated on 20th. So ONE DAY the flag went up and went back the next day. It’s not like this happens every four years.
Gov. Desantis has been a great Governor. Stands up for protecting the children, rights of parents, backing all the services that protect the public. Is on it when a natural disaster happens. But not everyone sees glass half full.

I know several families, gay and hetero and several European friends, who said they will not visit Florida due to the hate filled and hurtfilled politics of the governor and the Republican Party. Hopefully this will be motivation for Floridians to wake up and realize, we live in a wonderfully diverse creative world. Banning books, not welcoming people with different Sexual orientations as themselves, is harmful and stupid….
And yes, add onto that the governor’s wasteful taxpayers dollars when the airport and federal collected airport taxes should be adequate to maintain an international airport.

    1. Danny O.

If I had a choice, I wouldn’t be visiting Florida, either. For the same reason (it’s a state full of hate).

What’s even more confusing — is that the hate comes from Christians that don’t even know what’s in the bible. Mostly MAGA, of course.

The law was to protect parents rights to teach their children “about life”, not the schools. Kindergarten through fifth grade was the concern. Desantis stepped up with the legislature to create the bill and was passed. No school should shut out the parents and teach about sexual orientation, the body etc. that’s what the law was. The Democrats named it “Don’t say gay bill “ to distract from truth. Disney didn’t stay focused on their Entertainment business. They challenged and created their own problems. What you do in you’re personal life, Florida/ DeSantis doesn’t care. Come here, don’t come here but know the truth not rumors.

I will have all of you know as a Native Floridian many generations of my family have lived in and worked in Florida all our lives. Ron DeSantis is getting involved because he too loves Disney and his family also goes back many generations to when there was no Disney. You might understand where our Governor is coming from if you do a little reading beginning with the Governor and his wife. I understand because I am involved. Began with where Ron DeSantis and his wife were married. I got marriage at the same place. I think you would be surprised by his best of intentions. I am being cryptic on purpose. You will see. By the way, Florida loves Ron DeSantis. He known what he is doing. Read his bio. RDD is brilliant. I know him personally.

    1. Phil

Not a native Floridian, but have lived here for what is many people’s lifetime. Ron DeSantis is a miniature version of the current white house occupant. He cares only about himself. He is an autocrat two year old who shows his vindictiveness whenever he doesn’t get his way or when someone objects to his actions. As for “Florida loves Ron DeSantis” speak for yourself. I used to love Disney – pre Chapick and DeSantis. There’s a lot less to love at a much higher cost now. Used to be an annual pass holder. Haven’t been back in five years, and no intention to return unless Disney World returns to it’s former culture and independence from government control – read DeSantis. Was also involved when current MCO terminal was built. It was somewhat novel design at the time. There is nothing wrong with trying to improve it. Traffic today is multiple times more than when it opened.

The only improvement I want to see at any airport is additional security. Where you can not leave the baggage claim with baggage, without having your ticket and bags scanned to verify they are yours.

  12. Mike

I think they should concentrate more on ride wait 2 hour wait with kids to get on a 2 min ride… Really…

My memories of Disney Land was a book of A.B.C. tickets 15 rides that you could do in a 8 hr. visit..

  13. Jean

Only problem at mco is baggage
