Disney has shuttered one of its Club 33 locations, with walls erected around the ultra-exclusive restaurant.

Club 33 is Disney’s most exclusive retreat, hidden in plain sight within its theme parks. Originally conceived by Walt Disney as a VIP lounge for dignitaries and corporate sponsors, this private club has become a legend among Disney enthusiasts.

Of course, this doesn’t come cheap. While Disney doesn’t explicitly state how much it is to join Club 33, a lawsuit filed by Diana and Scott Anderson, former members of Disneyland’s Club 33 – which is located above Pirates of the Caribbean at 33 Royal Street in New Orleans Square, hence the name – revealed that signing up cost them $40,000 plus their first year dues, which cost an additional $10,000.

The couple revealed that this fee gave members given unlimited access to the club, but with one caveat: Tom Hanks. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, they revealed that Hanks gained priority access to the restaurant, as well as sharing a specific incident in which Katy Perry allegedly got in trouble for selling access to the restaurant for $160,000 to raise money for charity.

The couple in question, who had had their membership revoked after one was allegedly drunk near the entrance of Disney California Adventure Park, claimed to have spent close to $125,000 each year for their Disney trips.

But Disneyland isn’t the only park with a Club 33.

One Club 33 Location Closes

Fans can also find Club 33 locations at Walt Disney World Resort, Shanghai Disneyland, and Tokyo Disneyland. However, the latter is currently shuttered due to ongoing refurbishment.

Latest updates from the park – which forms part of Tokyo Disney Resort with Tokyo DisneySea – surrounded by construction walls. Member or not, access to the private dining club is restricted to all as the restaurant undergoes three months of planned maintenance.

Unlike Disneyland’s version of Club 33, Tokyo Disney Resort’s location is located in World Bazaar, Tokyo Disneyland’s equivalent of Main Street, U.S.A. Guests enter just off World Bazaar, then access Club 33 on the second floor of the building.

When it reopens, Tokyo Disneyland’s take on Club 33 will continue providing an elite dining experience to members and their guests. The club offers a blend of traditional Japanese cuisine and Western classics, paired with exclusive merchandise and a vantage point that ensures unparalleled views of the park’s parade.

Like Disneyland’s version, the restaurant has strict rules when it comes to photography. Should you be lucky enough to secure a membership, the only thing visitors claim is permitted to be caught on camera is the food itself.
