Earlier this month, Pixar confirmed that a transgender storyline was cut from its upcoming Disney+ series, Win or Lose. The eight-episode series, which premieres next year, focuses on the “Pickles,” a co-ed middle school softball team, in the weeks leading up to their championship game.
Each episode of Win or Lose focuses on someone involved in the game, from players to parents to umpires. One of the final episodes in the show was supposed to focus on a character who struggles with their gender identity. The character is still in the show, but references to their gender identity have been removed.

The Walt Disney Company faced widespread backlash for removing the scene, from former employees to the transgender character’s voice actress to fans online. In a statement, Disney said its decision was based on parents’ desire to have difficult and sensitive conversations with their kids on their terms.
“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline,” a Disney spokesperson said.
Shortly after the news broke, social media sources leaked the alleged rough draft of the transgender scene on X (formerly Twitter). @LostMediaBuster had access to the scene for a while but didn’t publicize it until they found out Pixar had removed it from the series.

The scene follows a softball player named Kai, who is using the women’s bathroom and panics when a younger girl spots them. Their reflection distorts, representing Kai’s gender dysphoria and longing for a body that matches how they feel inside.
After running out of the bathroom, Kai gets a call from their father, who adamantly calls them his “son.” The character’s image is distorted again until they’re comforted by a coach who promises to be there for them no matter what.

The draft appears authentic, although Pixar hasn’t commented publicly on its release. The X user added Space Mountain music to the video, which initially had no audio.
After seeing the alleged scene, fans were even more disappointed that Pixar cut it.
“I would’ve loved to watch this 🙁 would’ve helped a lot with my dysphoria,” said @AtlASshehe.
