In watching the video it is more than a couple of drones, it is well over 20 drones that can be seen falling from the sky. Good thing most of them fell over water. Disney needs to work all the bugs out before continuing and seriously injuring someone.
Reading the article this was not a Disney show so there is nothing to work out “before continuing and seriously injuring someone.” Disney not responsible for injuring anyone in the incident described in the article.
I really hope Disney is able to get a drone show developed and approved by the FAA as some of the shows that have been approved at various venues around the country have been incredible without incident.
This wasn’t a Disney drone show that malfunctioned, it was an Orlando show. There were no malfunctions at the Disney Springs drone show. Anyway, these shows are designed by an outside company, not Disney itself. It is the designers that need to insure the shows will be safe.
The poor birds too! 😔 Disney has went too long without good crowd control IMO. They used to be consistent with it and now at least in Anaheim it’s all over the place. Probably depending on employees willing to work or not. Some days they are on point and logistics of CC are great. They have even developed signs for some rides that tell people where the line ends.
Other times it’s just chaos and lines jutting out to block walkways entirely, or one slim trail for anyone desiring to go through several lands, with no option of going any other way. Even way before closing.
For all I know that’s because something went down but with today’s tech I doubt that would happen without some article coming out.
They also should be keeping vendors in park open longer. My family is there late often and they routinely shut down food and drink 3-7 hours before the parks close (depending on which one). I get an hour before…but many people still want to grab something at that time and sit when it’s less crowded etc. They could just sell snacky items too and it would divert some of the later crowds.
The drone show shouldn’t be dangerous. Malfunctions happen but safety be a top priority for Disney. Crowds are also dangerous inately. I see more obvious signs of neglect in putting money where it matters (instead of parades outside the parks that aren’t even for 90% of the guests in or out).
Idk if I’m wrong but it seemed like people are feeling optimistic about recent changes at Disney, that they are starting to listen to what the consumer wants finally… hopefully they don’t slack more in areas of basic operations and safety.
I am surprised no one is considering anti-drone tech that we have created to defend against drone attacks. It is able to take them down from the sky pretty reliably.

I don’t remember the fireworks having this issue at Lake Eola.
