I blame Disney for this debacle. They chose to get on the pc bandwagon and cast a latino for a role whose skin is as white as snow. Zegler and her self serving attitude also did not help, and Disney clearly did not coach her up for interviews. Disney should have realized this right from the git-go. Remember, they said they are listening to its fans. Doubtful, but they are obviously not reading what their fans say either. This film will be in the loss column of their tax filings.

    1. Stephen

Plus the Dwarfs animation is terrible.

    2. Andy

My biggest problem with this film is NOT who they cast to play Snow White but the fact that they didn’t cast REAL little people to play the Seven Dwarves. That’s offensive AF. Dwarves replaced by CGI abominations is detestable.

    3. sam

      she is half Polish.

the problem is she doesn’t embrace that part of her heritage, she is very proud of her Hispanic roots, but never do we hear about her Polish heritage.

      1. Linda

She’s embracing Latino heritage because it’s the cool thing now. lol. What a doofus thing to do. She should embrace all her ethnicities. Foolish little girl

      2. Matt

Why do you have to hear about her polish side? How does that matter to you? Some of you are being low key racist.

        1. Jim

Maybe some people like to learn about others polish heritage. Matters to me because I’m polish. Why are you calling polish people racist?

    4. scaringi95

Yeah whites only…. For water fountains, pools, restaurants, hotels etc…..

  2. Anne

The comment included in the article:
    Disney: Relive the Classic story
Also Disney: Changes the Classic story

That was my comment. Thank you for letting it be a part of the backlash. ❤️ Rachel Zegler is not totally to blame for the film’s demise. The fact that Disney wanted to make it a woke, girlboss film is a big part of it, hence the reason for my comment.
As I’ve said before, Disney has lost its magic just for the sole purpose of pushing their agenda down our throats. Go woke, go broke. The people have spoken!

    1. scaringi95

Hire anybody but whites and we”ll be mad about it. In other words. Lol

      1. Larry Darrell

        Yeah, whatever….everything is racist/…..phobic/everyone hates women….same tired excuses….

      2. Tom

I totally agree, people are getting way too up in arms about race stuff. Have you seen the trailer for the new MLK movie starring Ryan Gosling as MLK? Like hello people, it’s not all about race, it’s about finding the best actor for the part.

      3. John

Right?! Like come on people it’s not a big deal. I saw Ryan Gosling is going to play MLK in his next film which I think is a great role for him. It’s not about race, it’s about finding the right actor for the role.

  3. Danny O.

Their main issue is placing Zegler in the role in the first place. Name me a hit film that she starred in? I’ll give you until March 14, 2025 (a week before Snow Woke is/was intended to be released) to find one.

Too tough? Then find me a Snow White interview where Zegler didn’t criticize the original. You have until March 14, 2025. Still too tough?

I know! What about the praise Zegler gave when excited that she got to be in Shazam 2? Oh. I guess, “I needed a job. That’s all it was.” isn’t much of a praise.

And let’s be real. If having as many horrible test audience reviews didn’t stop them…if over a million dislikes (I don’t know the actual count. Just that it’s over one-billion dislikes) and less than fifty-thousand likes (once again, I don’t know the actual number — other than it’s less than fifty-thousand likes) didn’t stop them…if over half a million dollars (I don’t know the actual number. I know they sunk more than three-hundred thousand dollars in fixing it, alone) didn’t stop them…and if Zegler’s social media attacks didn’t stop them, then I doubt Disney will actually cancel Snow Woke from being released.

Don’t worry. All Disney has to do to avoid bankruptcy is charge people $1,000 per person (per day) to visit their parks and charge viewers $50 per month for streaming Disney+. What? Their overly-expensive merch? Didn’t Disney blame Trumps tariffs (even if they’re not in effect) for that?

Iger is going to leave — as he wanted — as a legacy that people will always remember. He’s the guy that killed Disney.

    1. Eli

Very well said! More concerned about the almighty dollar than pleasing the guests that spend their hard earned money. This woke business has ruined the Magic that Walt created. He would not approve. Iger is a HUGE disappointment Rachel needs to be banned from any movie in the future.

      1. Asch

Hopefully this will tank Zegler’s career and send the message that these Hollywood types should keep their mouths shut.

    2. Matt

Everything is woke with you Trumpers.

  4. Wendell

I’ll answer your first question: West Side Story. There, that wasn’t tough at all.

    1. Sean O

“West Side Story” cost $100 million to make. Once advertising was factored in, it needed to make $300 million just to break even.

      It made $76 million.

      Not a hit.

      1. Claude Ryans

West Side Story was a victim of the pandemic. Rachel was critically acclaimed in the role. I am sick and tired of hateful old men harassing this talented young woman, trying to ruin her because you don’t like something she said. You spiteful, bitter fools disgust md

        1. Steve

West Side Story was a disaster that should never have been made. There’s a reason the original is a classic that won 10 Oscars and Zegler has no talent. Natalie Wood rolled in her grave. This is why I look forward to the return of the classic Studio System and actors being put back under contract to the studios like Judy Garland at MGM which will return to its former glory soon.

          1. Danny O.

When I saw West Side Story was on Disney+, I had someone — who is a fan of musicals — watch that. I didn’t watch it, myself, because I’m not much into musicals.

When she told me she didn’t like it, I was confused. I heard it was a very good musical. I know a few songs from there were sung for many years.

Then, I realized the one on Disney+ was a REMAKE. Guess who starred in it? Yup! It was Zegler. I hope the person who saw the Zegler version is willing to see the ORIGINAL. I’m sure she might like THAT one!

          2. K

Why wasn’t a white actress hired to play that part instead of Zegler…what…color doesn’t matter, right Disney?

        2. Paul D

Rachel Zegler is a pompous insufferable bore. And not all that attractive!

          1. J

Agreed, she’s a two face horrible liar that doesn’t respect the original film.

        3. sam

          who’s trying to ruin her?

          way to generalize.

also, way to attempt to use hate to try and make people fear your words. you should stop writing all together and rethink your strategy for getting people to agree with your view points.

she is an overopinionated little girl who alienates potential fans all by herself, she doesn’t need the help of old men to do it.

        4. Roni

I don’t care who she is. But it’s not very smart to insult the original movie that you’re remaking. Disney fans will never give her chance.

        5. Theresa Teske

I don’t like her and I’m not old or a man.

        6. Dion Ray

Spoken like a truly triggered liberal.

      2. Wendell

Depends on your definition of “hit”, because it received lots of awards attention that year. If you’re going to define a movie’s merits solely by box office performance, then you’d have to say that It’s a Wonderful Life and Fantasia weren’t hit movies either.

        1. sam

Fantasia was a failure in the box office, despite having critical acclaim.

I think the term “significant financial losses” is tossed around for that film when considering the initial release.

          1. Wendell

We’re basically saying the same thing. Thanks for agreeing.

    2. Jeremy

A box office bomb that lost money? That’s your answer?

      1. Wendell

Exactly. Just like Fantasia and It’s a Wonderful Life, both of which were box office bombs that lost money but went on to earn critical acclaim. You’ve heard of them, right? Would you describe those films as failures? Thanks for your well-thought-out question.

    3. Chad T

Lol West side story was only liked by theatre kids and rich socialites. And the theatre kids of rich socialites 😂 that was corny garbage

      1. Wendell

In other words, the same audience that’s currently making Wicked a ton of money at the box office. Whadda ya know. LMAO

  5. Christi

I hope this is true it has been shelved.

    1. Joe

it hasn’t been shelved. the first trailer was recently released. all the BS that people said months ago about the dwarfs being grown men are false. there is more CGI in this film then most Disney live action movies. They (Disney) altered the story a bit and didn’t have snow white asleep for most of it….so what? who cares? im tired of the people out there saying “this movie was so much a part of my childhood. i cant believe they changed some things around”. Boo Hoo. Watch the trailer. it actually looks like it could be decent movie

      1. Danny O.

Um… Aurora (the reason you said “didn’t have snow white asleep for most of it”) is Sleeping Beauty. Watch the movie (or read the book).

And these “people” you mention as having “said months ago about the dwarfs being grown men”…can you see them now? Are they here? What are they telling you?

At least “there is more CGI in this film” is accurate.

PS: It just occurred to me that “the dwarfs being grown men” statement was probably from LAST YEAR — when Disney called them “magical creatures”. One one of the seven had dwarfism. The rest were average-sized humans. And they all looked like a bunch of vagabonds.

      2. sam

        “altered the story a bit”

yeah. no. from the trailer it’s a different story. they should have just renamed it. “Girlboss White and the 7 CGI Little People”.

        1. Danny O.

“they should have just renamed it. ‘Girlboss White and the 7 CGI Little People’.”

Your response/reply reminded me of a YouTube video I watched: youtu.be/cza7lI6FzI8

  6. Meh

The original story is a bit sad and dated. It’s nowhere near my favourite Disney movie. So I’m fine with whatever version they put out. The people complaining are the same folks who are upset about stat wars. Living in the past and shutting down any glimpse of the future. If the future is just the same as always, that’s pretty damn bleak.

    1. Dustin

I would agree normally, except they aren’t trying to change the story because they have a better idea. They’re host trying to force their ideals onto the world, of which many people don’t agree with.

Is it a glimpse into the future? It would be if people didn’t raise their voice and just accepted changes they don’t like. Everyone is allowed to join the discourse, and the sum of those conversations will dictate the future. Disney alone doesn’t get to decide what type of world we live in. It’s just a movie but it’s a slippery slope. People shouldn’t just remain silent and accept things they don’t like.

      1. Wendell

You don’t have to accept things you don’t like when it comes to movies, because you can simply choose not to watch them. I don’t believe in telling any entertainment company they shouldn’t make a movie the way they want to. I prefer not to live in a future world where certain movies can’t even be conceived because the general public presumably wouldn’t like them. There should always be room for controversy, to keep things interesting.

    2. Dustin

Also the future is actually never bleak. Throughout time, life has become consistently better for most people in practically every relative metric. You want to go back to the medieval times?

    3. Steve

Nothing is dated and there is nothing wrong with the original movie. It’s the reason why there are Disney parks and Disney exists as an animation studio. There is no future either and Disney when I take over will have no future unless the future is in the past. Disney under me will go backwards and be great again by asking “What would Walt do?” again like it did after his passing. Even if that means stagnation and catering to 20th century audiences only. The Snow White remake will soon be shelved and lost like much of Georges Melies’ films.

    4. Jajs

      Looooooser

    5. Butch

If you want something new then do something original and make a new story with new characters doing new things that fit your agenda! Don’t mess with classics unless you don’t fear or care for fan rejection and the loss of revenue. Disney can’t afford either rejection or revenue loss in today’s world, especially with Universal about ready to eat their lunch.

    6. Amber

Calling the original story sad and dated is just code for ” I didn’t get the message they were going for.”
The first one made the point that despite both women being beautiful it was snow whites kindness that made the difference. The point was that just because a woman is beautiful isn’t enough. You have to be kind.

Rachel zeglers version is just erasure and pushing this weird girl boss angle that has nothing to do with the original snow white. It might have worked if they were making their own original film.

      1. Danny O.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves:

Female is born and becomes a beautiful young lady. Her mother/step-mother (depending on your source…considering the original was her ACTUAL mother) is vane; and wants her killed for being competition.

Snow White has to flee her castle and hide in the woods. Her caring and kindness show through, that animals are drawn to her. She finds a cottage in the woods. Deciding to hide out there, she does her best to make the homeowners feel like welcoming her with open arms. She cooks and cleans, while the homeowners are away, to show her gratitude and ask for them to harbor her.

She becomes an honorary member of their family — through her kindness, caring, and helpfulness. So much so, that the homeowners wish to protect her to their fullest.

So far, I don’t see a stalker prince. Nor do I think breaking & entering — and demanding that the homeowners become your servants — is the same as the story, so far. I can’t even see how Disney confuses a female being kind & caring with being “outdated”.

Ribbon, comb, and apple. I don’t really remember which came first, the ribbon or the comb. I’m only guessing the order. Anyway, Snow White was alone (no animals nor dwarves close enough to rescue her). The dwarves morn; and construct a glass coffin. The prince (who was only at the beginning of the story) arrives — having been searching for the lost princess. He sees her corpse.

After awakening her, they BOTH (not just the male) confront the evil queen.

The story shows a female that’s kind & caring. The story happens to have a physical description (including her skin tone). The story shows that through her behavior, Snow White EARNED her beauty & respect. Zegler shows none of this.

  7. Patricia

Save what face you have left, Disney. Ditch the movie now!!!

  8. Dustin

Funny how Disney is just using her as a scapegoat now. Sure, she was the face of this whole debacle…. But Disney wrote the film and chose to change it, and decided she would be a good person to represent their new version. Zegler is super annoying, but Disney never seemed to stop her, and now it’s probably too late.

  9. Lisa

Don’t shelf it! Trash it! And stop making woke films!!!!

    1. Shannon Faulkner

This was a terrible idea to begin with. There is a REASON snow white was… well… white. There is a reason she had black hair and red lips. It was part of the story and the NAME of the character. So the casting is Disney’s fault. However Rachele did not help her case. Her comments were the anchors that pulled down the rotted hull of a ship Disney calls a movie remake. It is all a mess and just needs to go away.

      1. Johnny

Agreed, she is a horrible two faced liar that disrespects the original story and the fans. They need to cut ties with her 100%

  10. Thomas

Woke means anything that is against the norm. Women’s suffrage would be considered woke. The civil rights movement would be considered woke.

A lot of movies fail because the studio, director, and producers allow actors more creative control over the character they play. Snow White deviated from the story and the character because they let Zegler make changes.

Also the Evil Queen has no motivation to kill Snow White as Gal Gadot is already the fairest in the land.

    1. Wendell

Thanks for your refreshing assessment of the word “woke,” which gets overused on these comment threads by people who twist the definition to suit their agenda. It’s a rare and welcome perspective.

    2. Ed

No. Woke is anti-American and pro Marxist. It means being in lies such as the idea of systemic injustice in the US. There is no such thing as systemic injustice in the US and nobody is marginalized in the US. The Soviets were woke. Stalin was woke. Walt Disney ratted out woke employees to the HUAC.

      1. Spank You Very Much

Pipe down, civvie. And don’t think you can hide behind different names. Like Santa, I’m always watching.

  11. Andrew

Ive said this before, Disney can not shelve this film. If they did, all the activists that run the company now and have infested all its divisions will protest and cry r’cism and se’ism etc. They should just release it on D+ and call it a day

    1. Steve

Let them scream foul. It will be shelved and all the activists within Disney will end up blacklisted after I give their names in front of the HUAC like Walt Disney himself would’ve. When I take over Disney I know I will have done my job when the ousted activists are calling for a national boycott of Disney products. They won’t be missed.

  12. Wes

I want to like Rachel Ziegler. She is talented… But she is immature when it comes to expressing her views. You can say things without a “bull in a china shop” way of insulting people. She doesn’t realize she is a symbol and must protect the brand. I’m also glad the right has found a way to speak up for itself and vote with its wallet. If the woke left doesn’t want you or like you then good. Don’t spend your money there. Disney will have to change or continue to bleed money until they die out. Hope they become rational again. I doubt it though!

  13. Chrys nelson

Film looks great shown in the trailer. I don’t understand what all the ruckus is about.

  14. Yo

Meh. You’ve lost the plot. You sound like a Disney employee

  15. Stephen

Disney wrote off the Star Cruiser which cost $350 million. They can write off this film. Better to shelve the film rather than forever taint the Snow White legacy.

  16. Jay

I refuse to watch because of her comments. I refuse to go to Disney World for the past 8 years over their change in policies and “woke” agenda. Changing “ladies and gentleman, boys and girls” to gender neutral audio announcements AND Cast Member greetings, removing the Pirates “auction”… Im done. My family of 5 now go to Universal, and Carnival instead of the Disney Cruise Line.

    1. Spank You Very Much

And how have those changes impacted your life directly?

  17. Tim

Her apology sounds like her agent or manager wrote it to do some damage control as PR move

  18. Dave 62

I would love to see true artist back at disney, not computer programmers, where true heart felt artists can put the paint brush back to the big screen !

  19. In a foretelling although unintentional, it certainly stands out that for the first time, the Magic Mirror will poetically remark a LIE!
The evil queen is definitely more fair than Snow White (who isn’t really white) thus the Fairest of them all !?
I believe with that PREMISE which you will see throughout the film (!) makes the movie turn into a turkey already.
And with that, I’m not even talking about the main issue here, which because of all the chaos and fiasco, should prompt the production team to delete everything for now, go back to the drawing board, CONSIDER the pristine POV of Mr. Walter Disney (who if not for him, we won’t have anything to talk about in the first place) and have a brand new square one START.
    That’s just imho.
    Thank you — ■

  20. Thomas R. Violante

Zegler should have been warned about making her opinion known. We don’t care!! Just do the job you’re getting paid for and shut your pie hole. Stop disparaging Walt’s masterpiece.

  21. Christopher warner

People STOP doing this 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 and Please stop being this person: 🙎‍♀️📝! let people make a movie! fine yes the sonic that was slated to be used for the sonic movie was UGLY! but why do you expect to have the PERFECT sonic model used like they do in the cartoon? (not having to do with dwarves but) YOU AREN’T GOING TO GET THE PERFECT MODEL BASED OFF A ANIMATED CHARACTER #DEALWITHIT!

    1. JayBird

WOrds have consequences. She should have kept politics out her mouth. You can’t blaspheme Trump or his supporters. EFF Rachel Zegler!

      1. Aunt Polly

You can badmouth whoever you want in a supposed democracy. It’s called freedom of speech. Sometimes words have consequences, but it doesn’t mean she’s not entitled to them. If she encounters backlash, that’s her cross to bear, but it shouldn’t be a career-ending moment… unless you believe our Constitution is flawed.

  22. Chris

Also, if you want the perfect character model? do you know what you can do?! MAKE IT YOURSELF!

    1. Danny O.

And that’s what Daily Wire did. Releasing on the same date (except on their Bentkey streaming site — instead of in theaters). And THIERS looks GREAT!

      youtu.be/lq9bYTFf6ts

The best part: They keep politics (they happen to be a Conservative/”Right-Wing” group) out of their Snow White movie!

      1. Spank You Very Much

You seem to enjoy contradicting yourself. In the same sentence, you say that Bentkey keeps politics out of a movie while mentioning that they are a conservative/right-wing group. You also can’t speak with authority on what politics, if any, are included in a movie you haven’t seen. You’re basing all of your assertions on a trailer, which traditionally shows two minutes’ worth of a 90-minute (or more) feature. I shouldn’t be surprised, though, since you’re the same guy who believed that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure no longer has a drop, based on someone else’s video you had watched.

  23. Becca

My dislike is not bc of her ethnicity, rather, her offensive, narcissistic attitude. I think people could have watched the movie until Rachel completely trashed the original and continued to espouse and reprimand people to bolster her political and woke ideology. That, dear Disney, will NEVER earn my money.

  24. Dennis

It’s a shame, she was so good in West Side Story, she had to open her mouth , and make an idiot of herself . We all have our opinions , but when your are in the business of entertainment, you have to be careful who you offend, and she offended a lot of people . Stupid on her part . Sure Disney is not too pleased .

  25. Eddie

Well, now Rachel Zegler has inspired her very own terminology. As per Urban Dictionary:

    Zeg
[verb] To cause controversy, especially to the detriment of one’s career.

Zegler: A person who habitually Zegs.
The Disney Snow White film tanked because of the zegging of a Zegler named Rachel.

“I hope Republicans never know peace,” Rachel zegged.

Why did Rachel zeg like that?! Weird, weird!

  26. A.M

She[Rachel] doesn’t even like Snow White. What business does she have playing the part? The dwarves are not real. Disney is letting the opinion of 1 person reflect the opinion of all “little people”. Really Disney?

  27. Hell

How can u judge a movie that ain’t out how about u make a movie then if is so easy

  28. Puppy Cat

I’m an animator and it just pains me to see what the company that pioneered american animation is doing with the very property that brought light to the very medium. The original snow white was a revolutionary master peice that proved feature films could be animated. Now disney is spitting in the face of that legacy and erasing one of the most important movies in history. All of these live action “remakes” essentially do the same thing: erase animation. I know executives and the academy all look down on animation as just “for kids” and with the rise of the live action remakes that disrespect is getting worse. I also hate that everything being green-lit is sequels, nostalgia bait, and remakes because they are “safe bets”. I know there are artists out there (I’m one of them) that want to create something good, new, and most important of all: original. But none of these artists are getting the opportunity weather it’s mass layoffs or executives completely running the show and making the creatively bankrupt decisions. That’s why I don’t want to see this movie. It’s nothing more than a symbol of the forgotten artists past and present.

  29. Dale Hendersen

You literally cannot be snow white if you’re not White! Sorry but make your own stories and leave ours alone! You want to make people racist? Keep this up!

  30. Boobie Gibson

    Weird. WEIRD!

  31. Spank You Very Much

It seems to me that the movie is getting released in some way, no matter what. I’ll reserve judgment until then. In the meantime, here’s a solution everyone might be able to get “behind” (pun intended): There must be a way to deploy AI to create a scene of Rachel Zegler getting a literal spanking from Walt Disney. This would be satisfying on a visceral level for the haters, and for folks like me, it would offer something for the male gaze. Everybody wins.

  32. JayBird

She said “F Trump and his supporters.” May you never have peace to Trump and his supporters? F her. Never will I watch anything she does. F her and F Woke White.

    1. Aunt Polly

I guess you’re choosing to feel the same way about half the country then, since 50% of the electorate agrees with her. I hope your family holiday gatherings survive unscathed by political tension.

  33. Melanie

Honestly Snow White DOES NOT translate to a normal live action remake. This is a movie that relys on fairytale logic in order to work, which the live action remakes refuse to do.

This remake was doomed from launch even without the lead actress clearly not caring about the OG movie, however that certainly didnt help matters any.

  34. It’s more than shelved, it’s scrapped. Best to retrieve something from this debacle.

  35. Sharon S

Double standards, if they don’t fire her?

‘Lucasfilm released a statement Wednesday saying that Carano will no longer be part of the show, and that “her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”’

I guess Disney is showing where their loyalties lie. Either that or it’s ok to fire someone as long as it’s not going to cost them millions upon millions of dollars.
