Guests who visit Club Cool at EPCOT are now being offered new plastic cups instead of the traditional paper ones, as reported by WDWNT. The new reimagined Club Cool opened in 2021, with paper cups being offered since the beginning.

These new plastic cups mark a shift from Disney’s efforts to eliminate as much plastic as possible from its theme parks, an initiative that can be seen and felt all around the Walt Disney World Resort.

Club Cool is a refreshing place to take a break during a day at EPCOT, giving guests access to a wide variety of international Coca-Cola products and flavors. Just like EPCOT’s World Showcase, Club Cool is a fun and educational experience that helps guests connect with other cultures and countries.

Flavors like Beverly, which originates from Italy, are now notorious within the Disney theme park community, becoming a “love it or hate it” kind of drink. Other flavors, like Madagascar’s Bon Bon Anglois and Korea’s Minute Maid Joy Apple Lychee, offer a different yet still refreshing beverage option.

These and other flavors are all offered for free inside Club Cool, which is located in EPCOT’s World Celebration, one of the park’s four new sections. Alongside World Celebration, guests can visit World Nature, World Discovery, and World Showcase during their day at EPCOT.

It’s unknown what prompted Disney to switch from paper to plastic, but it’s certainly interesting considering the company’s previous efforts to reduce waste and promote green living. However, it’s possible the decision to switch from paper to plastic lies more with Disney’s partner, Coca-Cola.

For now, it seems that guests will need to get used to using plastic cups once again at Walt Disney World, a resort that has eliminated most single-use plastic items.

Earlier this year, Disney and Coca-Cola teamed up once again to open a new quick-service snack and drink location inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Named Ice Cold Hydraulics, the location offers guests a quick drink and bite to eat, making for a refreshing pit stop during a likely action-packed day at the park.

What do you think about this change from paper to plastic?
