I will not be watching or buying toys from it. This has completely changed the original story so they should have just created another movie and not Snow White. In the original Grimm fairy tale, Snow White was as dumb as a box of rocks! Three times the Dwarves warned her of the Evil Queen and three times ignored their sage advice, almost dying each time.
Also, the Prince carried the crystal coffin to his castle because he fell in love with a corpse, and wanted to look at her whenever he wished. At the end, the Evil Queen had red hot iron shoes strapped onto her
feet and forced to dance until she fell down dead. And let’s not forget that the boar’s heart the huntsman brought back the Queen salted, cooked and ate!

This saddens me. As in a child growing up with Walt Disney being a family activity I don’t feel as if I can watch these with my kids let alone my grandkids. This is very sad, I grew up with the Micky Mouse Club, Sunday nights with the Wonderful World of Disney. Listening to Walt tell us all about the magic of Disney Land. Some how I can’t imagine that he would condone such woke BS. I will not promote this movie to any of my family members, I will not be attending any showing of it.

Yes, it has, but it already DID change the original story to ‘the Disney version’. So then why change it again? Who does it fill with horror to watch a harmless, ageless story about Prince’s rescuing damsels and wanting to find true love? The utter tosh about “oh, it’s after she was caught in a snow storm, actually” is painfully contrived.

It doesn’t look horrible (though the CGI does). Ms. Zegler is miscast, and it has nothing to do with her skin color. She just isn’t good here. She is in no way Snow White. And, as some have pointed out, the Queen really is far better looking than her, something they clearly realize because the have the mirror saying (essentially), “Inside, though! She’s pretty inside and it’s coming out. So, yeah, that’s why I said that.”

Snow is my favorite Princess and I will be going to see this when it comes out. That doesn’t mean I am not nervous about the changes but I was pleasantly surprised by the live action Jungle Book so I am hoping I am with this. There have been other Snow White films so telling a different story with the same characters is nothing new. I expect to still love the animation more but I am willing to give it a chance. I understand that few people understand such things (especially in the America of 2024) but folklore embodies numinous currents. They’re not just stories, they contain real power and manifest spirit of the folk from which they’ve emerged. This is why they hold such archetypal resonance for people. The Brothers Grimm totally got this and, intuitively, Walt Disney got it too. The Disney company, who either deny that such currents exist or openly hate them for existing, have messed with something very powerful. Just as this story gave birth to the company, so too it may finish the company.

This is very sad, I grew up with the Micky Mouse Club, Sunday nights with the Wonderful World of Disney. Listening to Walt tell us all about the magic of Disney Land. Snow is my favorite Princess and I will be going to see this when it comes out. That doesn’t mean I am not nervous about the changes but I was pleasantly surprised by the live action Jungle Book so I am hoping I am with this. There have been other Snow White films so telling a different story with the same characters is nothing new. I expect to still love the animation more but I am willing to give it a chance. I understand that few people understand such things (especially in the America of 2024) but folklore embodies numinous currents. They’re not just stories, they contain real power and manifest spirit of the folk from which they’ve emerged. This is why they hold such archetypal resonance for people. The Brothers Grimm totally got this and, intuitively, Walt Disney got it too. The Disney company, who either deny that such currents exist or openly hate them for existing, have messed with something very powerful. Just as this story gave birth to the company, so too it may finish the company.

if you have been paying attention, the story and plot deviate completely from the actual fairytale. the only likeness that remains are names.
to the eagle-eyed viewers this simply looks like the use of a revered name that helped Walt Disney build his empire of family entertainment to cash in.
current Disney leadership would have done well to keep the girl’s mouth shut, that way people may have thought this movie had anything to do with the original and would have gone to see it based only on the name, it might have even had a decent opening weekend before falling on its face, but then, she spoke, and proved this movie is simply a new film that is cashing in on the namesake of a classic.

I find that casting is an absolute sham. This was a German fairy tale written by the brothers Grimm. I don’t think they had an actress of Colombian descent with a bad attitude in mind for the role. I’m sure they would prefer “Snow” white!

the original movie was something that shifted culture, it advanced technology, and was so influential it moved the academy to create a special honor. something that has never been duplicated.

It would be “absolutely horrible” if they were making changes to the original classic, or replacing the original with the new one, but since all they’re doing is an adaptation that coexists alongside other versions, we continue to have a choice of which one to watch or not watch.
