The character of Bruce Wayne/Batman is one made up of many iconic things, all of which are constantly evolving while continuing to stay true to the essence of what made them popular in the first place. Gotham City. The Rogues Gallery.
Even everything down to his wardrobe and arsenal, like the Batsuit, the Bat-logo, the Batmobile, and the Batcave.
The Batcave is always depicted as a single location that resides beneath Wayne Manor on the outskirts of Gotham, as seen in countless iterations of Batman that span all forms of storytelling over the last 85 years since his inception.
But in DC Comics’ brand-new reimagining, “Absolute Batman,” which forms part of the Absolute Universe, Bruce Wayne isn’t a billionaire, which means he doesn’t have a mansion. So, where’s the Batcave?

“Absolute Batman” #1 came with its own jaw-dropping twists, with the most memorable being the reveal that Batman’s chest emblem doubles as an ax blade to help him take down his enemies.
In #2, which dropped on November 13, we get even more shocking revelations, from the fact that Bruce Wayne’s close inner circle is made up of iconic Rogues Gallery villains such as The Penguin and Two-Face, to Batman’s gigantic, bulldozer-like Batmobile.
However, the latest installment in the five-part series, which is running alongside “Absolute Superman” and “Absolute Wonder Woman”, introduces a Batcave like no other. Or should we say Batcaves.
That’s right–we learn that Bruce/Batman has dozens, perhaps hundreds, of Bat Caves throughout Gotham City. After all, in this universe, he’s a city engineer, so it’s hardly surprising that he’s set up elaborate hideouts for his Batsuit, Batmobile, and everything else in his arsenal in various locations throughout the city.
What is surprising is the sheer number of them, and the fact that, when you draw a line through them all on a map of the city, they form the brand-new “Absolute Batman” Bat-logo.

Per DC Comics, here’s the official description for “Absolute Batman” #2:
“Batman was born out of violence – a horrible tragedy that shaped the trajectory of his future. But when a vigilant MI6 agent starts tracking the lonely life of Bruce Wayne, he discovers the interconnectivity between a hero’s shell life and the many layers of the Black Mask Gang. It’s Batman versus Alfred Pennyworth!”
“Absolute Batman,” “Absolute Superman,” and “Absolute Wonder Woman” issues one and two are on sale now. Each series will collect five issues. “Absolute Flash,” “Absolute Green Lantern,” and “Absolute Martian Manhunter” are set to arrive in March, 2025.
