They actually do this quite often for the Williamsburg location especially during the summer when it’s lots of rain and high winds. It’s not safe to operate rollercoaster or have the water park open during those inclement weather days.
Used to live up there, well, the western part of VA. This is pretty common, not just during the summer, but for the short part of winter that they are open, the temps can sometimes become dangerously cold and the park will close for that as well. This is Virginia we are talking about here, and not Florida. We have real winters here in the mid-Atlantic and sometimes temps get cold enough where it is physically dangerous to be outside. On the flip side, I’ve seen them close in the summer in extreme heat and on days when it is stormy and there is a threat of lightning all day long.

As I live in Williamsburg and it was pouring rain on Wednesday the 11th, they made the right call.
