There will always be a few that want to say something is wrong. The majority of the WORLD loved this ride with the real read head, and they should put it back really. Enough pandering to the few who are the real ones with problems. Fix yourself first.

This is a ride, which tells the story of how the pirates actually live their lives. It wasn’t all fun and the Pirates were very dangerous vicious people. Just like the Vikings, they would rape and pillage. The original ride showed the reality The new imagine ride is just plain stupid. Women were obviously objectified by the pirates, and this is a story of how far we’ve come since then. They make pirates out to be good guys like Johnny Depp, but in reality, they were very bad men and women.

      1. Aunty Polly

The ride is not a history lesson, and was never intended to be.

    2. Lisa

      Yes!!! Exactly!!!

    3. Sean

      Totally Agree!!!

  2. OLDSCHOOLDISNEY

    haha sorry RED HEAD!

    1. Spare The Rod

You took your own advice and fixed yourself first.

Love The Originsl. So sick of changing things because someone complains. You find it offensive…don’t ride it !!

    1. Mary

Absolutely! I wish people would stop choosing to be offended about everything! They should be considering the intent, and stop being so black & white!

    2. I agree with you 100% there are a ton be of other rides they can ride

    3. Aunty Polly

If you love the original and hate the changes they made to it, I guess it’s time to take your own advice and stop riding it. Simple solution, no?

  4. Corky

No new changes were made to this ride, people. Try reading the whole thing sometime. It’s surprisingly informative.

Nobody is complaining about “recent” changes…just about the changes that have been made, and about people complaining about how the ride makes women look. Lie one guy said, that’s the way it was. If you don’t like it, don’t ride it! And Disney, quit fixing things that don’t need fixing.

“That’s the way it was” is an argument that applies to history class or a museum. This attraction’s purpose is not to teach history, but to be a fun and amusing ride for all ages, and in that spirit, it chooses not to include humor that is outdated and ill-suited to a family-friendly ride. Sexist humor was prevalent and tolerated when Pirates was first developed, but attitudes have changed. Slavery also happened and “that’s the way it was,” but unless the goal is to educate about slavery, there’s no compelling reason to design and build a theme park attraction about slavery, especially one that features “fun-loving slaves” singing a catchy song.

Also, the more important point here is one you already made yourself: If you don’t like it, don’t ride it. You obviously don’t like the changes that Disney made, so take your own advice.

        1. Rae

I don’t understand why a ride can’t be educational. Who decided that you would be the one to determine if it was educational or not? Why do you think we only learn in classrooms or museums? Your whole life is a learning opportunity. Lean in!

          1. Aunty Polly

No one said a ride can’t be educational. In fact, educational rides already exist in Epcot. The point is that not every ride needs to have historical accuracy and edutainment as goals, and Pirates was never intended to be educational from the outset. Would you make the same criticism about the Haunted Mansion or Space Mountain? What “facts” do the Skippers teach you on the Jungle Cruise?

Who decided that YOU would be the one to determine if an attraction can be updated or not? Your whole life is a learning opportunity, Rae, so learn to lean in and enjoy rides that have been updated for modern times. Pirates hasn’t stopped being an amusing ride just because changes have been made, unless you happen to be a first-timer who is unimpressed by animatronics and easily bored by slow-moving boat rides, but that’s another story.

offensive to who? There was nothing wrong with that ride. Get some backbone and put it back to the way it was. This crap is ridiculous. Pandering to the few is so never ending.

  6. Chris B

“I always felt violated on this ride,” one Disney Parks fan commented.” yet they still continued to ride it? lol

    1. Tony

Exactly, if you don’t like it don’t get on it. 🤬

    2. Deb

Yep people love to be offended, they keep on riding so they can have a deeper understanding off their feelings 🤣and let everyone know that they feel violated

    3. There are choices so choose not to ride it if it offends you.

There was nothing wrong or sexist about the way Pirates was envisioned with the auction and the chase scene. Yes it was envisioned as a history lesson and will be back to its 1967 self again in time for its 75th in 2042 or even earlier complete with the bride auction again and pirates chasing women again. Walt envisioned it as a history lesson both as a boat ride and as a wax museum before. X Atencio famously said they’re pirates not Boy Scouts and when I take over Disney, his relatives will receive a formal apology for the Iger era messing of his work of art and the woman in the barrel will be a caricature of Kathleen Kennedy as a damsel in distress as punishment for what she did to Star Wars.

    1. Wendell

Steve is a sad little man, all alone in his incel world, wondering why no one loves him.

      1. Steve

I am happily married with kids. You will show proper respect to a military man, civvie. Everything I say is true and when I take over Disney and make it great again, only Walt loyalists and purists will be allowed in so no Disney for you. Walt would’ve given your name as Red to the HUAC just as I will be doing.

        1. Wendell

It’s okay, Steve, I get it. There’s a loneliness epidemic among men. Some have trouble making connections and forging strong relationships, which can lead to a more isolated existence. This is where someone like Trump is able to make inroads because he lends voice to some of their deepest insecurities. You’re a textbook case. Nine out of ten doctors agree. Also, apropos of nothing, ten out of ten dentists agree that you should floss more.

          1. Aunty Polly

It’s actually kind of adorable how easy it is to push his buttons, isn’t it, Wendell?

          2. Fred

Oh great, not this c*nt Aunt Polly again.

          3. Aunty Polly

Apparently, I push OTHER people’s buttons, too. Yay me. Thanks for the validation, Fred.

          4. Rae

            Huzzah! Nailed it Wendell!

          5. Steve

You don’t know me either Rae. I’m married with at least as many kids as Georg von Trapp. Yes I’m a military man and you take orders from me according to Congress. Not only that, but I’m a fourth generation one, too. The last person to disrespect me is on trial now. You’re not welcome at Disney parks either and when I take over, only the purists will be.

          6. Spare The Rod

“…married with AT LEAST AS MANY kids as…”

Can’t even give the precise number of children he has. Yeah, that sounds legit. LOL

        2. Steve

Making false accusations like that is illegal. And after my takeover of Disney, it will be as if Trump himself took over Disney. It’ll be so much fun allowing only Disney purists who can show their fan documents in. Only those that went during Walt’s lifetime, their descendants, and anyone loyal to Walt. It’ll be like the Augusta National Golf Club or the Downtown Athletic Club, home of the Heisman Trophy.

          1. Wendell

…and in the spirit of Trump, you’ll obsess over the size of other golfers’ “packages” at Augusta. Good luck getting those doctors and dentists arrested for their expert diagnoses.

        3. Jacob

Anyone can claim to be happily married with kids. It doesn’t mean the wife and kids share in that happiness.
