Stop blaming fans for the acolytes failure, it was terrible, former executive assistant to Harvey Weinstien Leslye Headland has no talent, right along with her boss Kennedy. I doubt star wars will be good as long as Kennedy keeps putting people like Leslie in charge of projects.
Right? Not only is it not the fans’ fault that “The AcoSHYTE” was a dismal failure, but the familiar refrain of, “the only reason you hate this is because you’re a toxic fanboi istaphobe,” showed up like clockwork without a shred of evidence that the reason people hated the show had anything at all to do with bigotry.
If fans dislike a poorly written POC character, that doesn’t make them r@cist.
If fans dislike a poorly written female character, that doesn’t make them sexist.
If fans dislike a poorly written gay character, that direct make them homophobic.
If fans dislike a poorly written trans character, that doesn’t make them transphobic.
All of the above is also true for poorly written stories by writers in those demographic groups.
There’s also a complete disconnect between their claim that the “toxic fans” are an incredibly small minority, and that “toxic fans” are so pervasive and powerful they can cause a project to fail completely. Both things can’t be true
Finally, this show was created for a specific audience, by the creator’s and actors’ own admission. If it failed, it’s either because that audience isn’t as big as they thought (i e. the ACTUAL minority of the Star Wars fandom), or because they didn’t watch it. Neither of those have anything to do with these supposed “toxic fans.”
Even with all the negative reviews, I gave The Acolyte a chance. It was not only boring, but a story that has been told repeatedly. How many good twin vs bad twin movies/TV shows do we have to watch? The Mandalorian was the main one fans looked forward to. Who cares if Pedro Pascal after awhile was just providing the character’s voice. Grogu was the reason why we were watching it.
I read his Aftermath trilogy. It was some of the worst Star Wars writing I’ve ever read, including “The Crystal Star” and the Lando Calrissian novels from the early 1980s.
How can you not even mention Andor? That series is even better than The Mandalorian. It’s also got a season 2 coming which means Ahsoka is not the only line action show left. (Thank goodness because Ahsoka is some of the worst TV I’ve ever watched).
Disney killed Star Wars with over exposure and mediocre products. Kathleen Kennedy completely ruined the franchise. I guess that’s what happens when you put the almighty $$ profit over quality.
I am so mad that they cancel the Mandalorian I’ve been keeping paying for Disney just so I can watch that when the new series comes out now I’m canceling disney
Bye bye Disney+ there’s no need for me to keep the subscription since The Mandalorian was the only reason why I got the subscription in the first place. I knew Disney would eventually ruin Star Wars for me!
Where to begin: “toxic fans” are not killing Star Wars. Toxic execs and actors telling people not to watch their shows is doing far more damage than the few dinguses who hate . Writing stories that they know their core fans won’t enjoy to pander to a new possible fan base isn’t a smart idea.
Here’s the perfect example. Back in the 1980s, Coca Cola brought in New Coke… It was very much like Pepsi. Sweeter, and altered taste. It was a dismal failure. They tried to get Pepsi fans, and instead alienated the Coke fans. This is what Star Wars has been doing lately.
Why can’t they see what an old fart like me can see. And worse, why do “experts” still seem to drone on about Star Wars fans they already abandoned, not watching the show they were literally told “This is not a show for you.”
I’m dumping Disney when my subscription runs out. I doubt I’ll even go to the movie. Disney has left its home base people and abandoning its money makers. I’m sick of this especially as the titular character is only phoning in his voice 🤯🤯😡😡😡😤😤😤

I loved the Mandalorian. It was a great show with a good hero in Djarin, a cutie in Grogu and lots of adventures. Why cancel something that’s working for you.

They were very, very, very stupid to cancel The Mandalorian.

Trashing The Mandelorian season 4 is a mistake. Wtf Disney? Who’s making these decisions?

Sorry to read that The Mandalorian is cancelled. Pedro Pascal did a great job, and will miss him and Grogu.
