This is our “HOME RESORT” - and we absolutely love it! We have stayed all over this resort from the Paddock to the Carousel to the Grandstand, and we love them all! The walking distance to DS is a huge bonus.
@Rozay we stayed right by the Aztec pool and loved that room - very short walk to the pool. Coronado is definitely busy but in a good way! Honestly, it’s hard to go wrong with either!
@Rozay I’m also going for my birthday! How fun! I hope you have a wonderful time. You might be able to get a Disney+ discount if you choose Port Orleans! I was looking there too, but I wasn’t staying long enough for the deal to be included.
@tgree9369 Now I’m having some regrets not staying at Saratoga…but the giraffes were calling me!
@Rozay Just my opinion…French Quarter! We loved the vibes, slow and calm - the pool is amazing and the staff is great! Ask for a corner room by the pool! Plus, you can take the “Sassagoula River Cruise” ferry boat or water taxi to DS!
@Courtney_Raptive AKL is a great choice, like I said we always go back to SSR but just last year we were at KIdani and loved it! We have done Jambo also, and again - you are going to love this resort!
Yes I loved the French Quarter vibes! It was very nice there. I was in a corner room but facing the gardens. I took the ferry boat from DS it was awesome!
I just wanted to try something new but I will say when I visited Coronado Springs it seemed very bustling which I kind of like too .
My late husband & I did a RCI switch years ago. Where we stayed was the Marriott. It was right next to a big open space. You could see all the way to the chapel at the point. That open space is now Aulani.
Saratoga is my Home Resort & I do love it. It is best one to stay at with my service dog. I can let him right out & park near room. They are great about accommodating me with my disability.
My favorite resort is Wilderness Lodge - for the rustic feel. I have log furniture in my home. Another favorite is Fort Wilderness. Country vibe and being able to accommodate service dog and park near unit.
I am torn. I would say Grand Floridian or Port Orleans Riverside. I love GF as it is so dreamy but Riverside and the Royal Princess Rooms are so well themed and the southern plantation feel is just a winner for me.
There is only one choice for me Polynesian because in 1971 I stayed there and woke up to a view of the Magic Kingdom. I was 16 and so ready to discover the Disney Magic. I did and have never stopped going. Am a DVC member and always go and then cry when I have to leave. Staying a whole year would be at the top of my bucket list. If that dream came true I would be in heaven. Thanks for letting me dream.
@Courtney_Raptive Oh my, the Poly love will overwhelm you! Seriously, it’s a beautiful resort! note: stayed there in 1983 (yeah, Freshman in HS) and fell in love back then!
Love AKL - Jambo is my favorite. I have even stayed in a conceirge room. The food they put out is amazing. Even if I am not staying at AKL, I go get Zebra Domes.
My heart belongs to the Treehouses. You don’t have to be quiet or worry that people below you can heat you stomping around or that everyone can hear you yelling at each other (something we term as “Too much family togetherness”) laughs OR hear your 5yr old child having a full blown screaming, and door slamming, tantrum, because her grandma put out an outfit that didn’t go together.took me an hour to calm her down. Yes, my middle goddaughter did that. I was insanely grateful that we were in a treehouse. Because as far as my 3 little princesses go, middle child, could scream extremely loudly and for long long periods of time!
I would LOVE any of the following (and not necessarily in this order): The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian & The Contemporary. Not only have I not stayed in any of these, their proximity to the Magic Kingdom is awesome! I can NEVER get enough of the Magic Kingdom!
I have stayed at all of them. Out of the 3: Poly, then Contemporary - BLT, then GF. For some reason I just didn’t care for it. I had the 1st rooms, with a TV on the bathroom mirror. That was really cool.
I would pick Disney Art of Animation in the Lion King Suite. I love the feel of the hotel. The food in the food court is amazing. I like that the pool is one of the biggest in the Disney hotels. The area is quite and peaceful.
Maybe the Boardwalk - I love the boardwalk at night when the street performers come out. To sit on your balcony and watch all that is so much fun!! It is also only a short, relaxing boat ride (or walk) to Epcot and if you are there for a year, you are going to need that wide assortment of food nearby.
Boardwalk is nice & I don’t mind it, but the parking sucks. I am disabled and used to be able to park right near the doors. Now they make you park over the bridge. It is way too far to walk, especially when you are carrying anything.
My late husband & I did a RCI switch & stayed at the Marriott. There was a big open space. You could see the chapel at the point. That big open space is now Aulani.
I would stay at the Polynesian due to its close proximity to Magic Kingdom, our favorite park. My second favorite is only a monorail trip away, Epcot. Have never stayed here before. It is my bucket list resort.
I am unclear about this “community.” Is it part of the Four Seasons complex or WDW? Are “residents” permanent or are they temporary? If the latter, is this just part of the DVC program? The prices clearly are meant for the ultra rich, not the general public! You just know that most of the homes will be bought as investments,, ripe for flipping later on. So, Golden Oak will be uninhabited most of the time! Finally, from the beginning, there have been NO PERMANENT RESIDENTS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY!!! Citizens have VOTING RIGHTS! Diz doesn’t want to lose control over its plans. That’s one reason EPCOT was never built as a city. Something smells about this!!!!
Comments for A Complete Guide to Golden Oak: Living the Dream at Walt Disney World
Grand Floridan without a doubt. It’s
luxurious! Great dining options! Just a real beautiful resort.
Tree House Villas…room to live in…and feel homey, but close enough to everything. Can we have a AirBNB at Golden Oaks???

If I’m able to get the Disney + discount that’ll be the deal breaker! Lol

@Courtney_Raptive
Hi!! I’m going for my bday in July. But Im choosing between Port Orleans French Quarter (stayed there last month and liked it) or Coronado Springs!
I almost booked this for my trip in July because of its proximity to Disney Springs!
@Courtney_Raptive This is an Amazing Resort! I can’t brag on it enough! We have hit almost every resort on property and we still keep going back here!
@Rozay Just my opinion…French Quarter! We loved the vibes, slow and calm - the pool is amazing and the staff is great! Ask for a corner room by the pool! Plus, you can take the “Sassagoula River Cruise” ferry boat or water taxi to DS!

Hmmm I’ll have to look into that Disney + discount. Thanks

.
Animal Kingdom Lodge. All the food is good. Amazing views. Parking garage. Close to 192 and groceries.
I’m so excited to stay there!
I’m living at Aulani!
No brainer for me! I’ve tried to stay the past 2 times I’ve been there only to end up back in Ohio against my better judgement
My late husband & I did a RCI switch years ago. Where we stayed was the Marriott. It was right next to a big open space. You could see all the way to the chapel at the point. That open space is now Aulani.
Living in Hawaii is a DREAM!
I would choose Cinderellas Castle if I could. You are never too old to feel like a princess
As an option, that’d be the top pick
I was absolutely thinking the same thing!
Such a good idea!!!
That’s my choice, too!!!
Definitely a one bedroom at Beach Club. Love being able to walk to World Showcase and all the great food from the countries.
Great choice! Using the International Gateway is so…convenient and sheik! LOL. Stormalong Bay doesn’t hurt either!
Water Taxi to AbracadaBar, why? Just cause you can!
I would pick next door at the Yacht Club. Same advantages of being in the EPCOT area. Good way to get your exercise getting to the parks.
I would havr to chose all start movie because it has a lot of disney movie stuff
Disney Boardwalk. Great location. Walking distance to EPCOT. Hotel was fantastic to stay at, great amenities for the location.
Saratoga is my Home Resort & I do love it. It is best one to stay at with my service dog. I can let him right out & park near room. They are great about accommodating me with my disability.

Love that these places have good accomidations for you!
Baylake towers or Saratoga springs
If have to say the Animal kingdom lodge.
Or how about change every quarter.
I am torn. I would say Grand Floridian or Port Orleans Riverside. I love GF as it is so dreamy but Riverside and the Royal Princess Rooms are so well themed and the southern plantation feel is just a winner for me.
I love the Tiana theming in the Port Orleans Riverside rooms!

Love the Poly
I even got to stay in a conceirge room. Love the food that they set out.
Planning on getting breakfast there when I’m in Disney for July and it will be my first time stepping foot in the Polynesian!
@Courtney_Raptive Oh my, the Poly love will overwhelm you! Seriously, it’s a beautiful resort! note: stayed there in 1983 (yeah, Freshman in HS) and fell in love back then!
I think I agree with @Brittanyandthebeast! Aulani is beautiful! I would love to live in Hawaii!
Animal Kingdom lodge so I could see all my critters!
Love AKL - Jambo is my favorite. I have even stayed in a conceirge room. The food they put out is amazing. Even if I am not staying at AKL, I go get Zebra Domes.
WDW Beach Club, within walking distance to Epcot, and the sky tram. Boats are also available. Restaurants on site.
Love the bright colors at BC & that you can walk to Epcot.

I wanted to try them, especially with my son & his family, but going up & down the stairs would be too hard for me.

I’ve stayed at Pop and ASMovies, but not Animation.

The Galactic Star Cruiser… Oh wait, I heard the empire destroyed that one. Thank you Darth Kennedy.
I would stay at the Polynesian due to its close proximity to Magic Kingdom, our favorite park. My second favorite is only a monorail trip away, Epcot. Have never stayed here before. It is my bucket list resort.
