    Is Disney Losing Its Magic?
We just returned from an 8-day trip to Universal and Disney, and while we had fun, we think the fairy dust has worn off of this once grand concept born by the genius of Walt Disney.

In the not so distant. past, I remember walking into an atmosphere at Disney that touched your soul as soon as you entered the parks. The music, the service, and the embedded and inviting personality that was “Disney” permeated everything.

While there are some technologically and artistically dramatic recent attractions like Avatar Flight Of Passage and Star Wars at Hollywood Studios, they are not enough to offset the lack of soul that has taken the place of Walt’s vision.

To say the least, it is disappointing. To say what many people now consider evident…it has become nothing but a giant cash grab. The pricing is out of control, the crowds seriously cut into one’s enjoyment, the food quality is sub-standard in all but a few choice locations, and everything just kind of has a “Meat Market” feel to it. Waiting 20 minutes in line for “Snacks” just sucks all the magic out of the place.

While we think that Disney is attempting to do the right thing by allowing users an “app” for booking many things around the parks, it just comes off as one more way they have substituted technology for the “Magical Service” they were once renowned for the world over.

It is likely we will go back to Universal at some point because it is fun, clean, well run and quite frankly they have captured some of the “Magic” Disney used to OWN with their immersive Wizarding lands. But I think we have seen our last $10,000 vacation at Disney. It is the passing of an era!

Funny, we were just at Epcot, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios Friday-Monday and we had a blast! It was clean, the cast members were awesome, the weather was hot sure but the Mouse can’t control that. To each his own I guess but you sound like someone who just looks to complain. Good Luck.

i for one have booked my last holiday to disney world as will be celebrating our 70th birthdays and 50th wedding anniversary’ so instead of having a party we opt for our last trip to florida. we hope to really enjoy this time. i would have loved to being able to afford another but unfourtunately we can’t’

  3. I completely understand your sentiment. It’s disheartening when a place that once felt so magical starts to feel like it’s lost its original charm. Disney World has always been more than just an amusement park—it was an experience that truly touched people, thanks to Walt Disney’s vision. It’s true that modern attractions like Avatar and Star Wars bring a certain excitement, but it’s hard to ignore the shift towards commercialization that you mentioned. The soaring prices, long lines, and diminished quality of experiences can certainly make it feel less like an escape and more like a business operation. Hopefully, Disney can find a way to restore some of that magic we all remember fondly.
