Two Disney characters temporarily halted Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade on Monday night at Magic Kingdom Park. Thousands of guests watched as Disney cast members rushed the performers backstage during Walt Disney World Resort’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event.
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade is the only holiday parade exclusive to special event ticket holders. Even Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, most associated with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, replaces Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade during regular theme park hours between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

The family-friendly Halloween celebration kicks off in Frontierland and continues through Liberty Square, past Cinderella Castle, and down Main Street, U.S.A. It takes place twice during each Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, at 8:15 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. (Check out the later performance for reduced crowd levels!)
During the 11:15 p.m. performance of Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade on September 2, Disney Park guests reported that two villainous characters subtly signaled emergency to their fellow cast members. The incident temporarily halted the fan-favorite Halloween party event.
“[I] saw one of Ursula’s eels being rushed back stage with a cast member escort into the back stage area behind Casey’s,” u/SnooObjections5219 wrote on Reddit. “Next thing you know we’re walking down Main Street toward the exit and the other Eel goes jetting through the crowd down the sidewalk ahead of the parade and sprints backstage.”

The Magic Kingdom Park guest said they were concerned that the weather impacted the entertainment cast members: “Hoping all was OK with them! It was a humid, hot, no air movement night so I can’t imagine their costumes were comfy.”
Another Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party guest, u/NovelDig4828, also shared their recollection of the incident.
“We were standing on Main Street right next to a leader (or coord but dressed nicer so I think leader) and the puppets went right by us only for one to come back about 30 seconds later and walk straight to the leader. I tried to listen, but the music of course is loud. My friend heard something was wrong with the puppet but nothing specific beyond that. Then the leader person rushed them towards backstage. Was kind of fun to see the behind the scenes right in front of me.”
What happened to the Flotsam and Jetsam puppets on Monday night is unclear. The characters should return to Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade during the next Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on Friday, September 7. This event is sold out.
