TRON Lightcycle / Run Introduces Standby Queue at Magic Kingdom

In a major update for guests at Magic Kingdom Park, Disney has announced that the popular TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction will stray from its current virtual queue system starting September 9, 2024. ‘Tron’ Attraction Gets Major Shakeup

The TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction, a high-tech thrill ride inspired by the TRON franchise, has been a major draw for visitors since its debut. Previously, guests could secure their spot on the ride through a virtual queue system, which allowed them to reserve a time slot via their phones.

This system provided a convenient way for guests to avoid waiting in long lines but also required them to be vigilant about reservation windows and availability. However, some fans also complained that the virtual queue made the ride inaccessible to those who unfortunately failed to secure their spot.

Starting next week, the virtual queue will be replaced with a traditional standby queue. This shift means that guests will no longer need to use their phones to reserve a spot in advance. Instead, they can join the standby line at the attraction entrance and wait for their turn to experience the ride.

Changes Coming Next Week

Disney officials have stated that the transition to a standby queue is intended to enhance the overall guest experience. For some guests, the standby queue may provide a more immediate and tangible way to experience the ride, eliminating the need for constant monitoring of virtual queue times. However, it may also lead to longer wait times during peak periods, as more guests will now be lining up in person rather than securing a time slot ahead of their visit.

The virtual queue will remain open from now until September 8. Guests can request a booking through the app at either 7:oo a.m. or 1:00 p.m. No changes to Walt Disney World Resort’s other virtual queue attractions have been revealed.

As Magic Kingdom Park prepares for this change, guests planning to visit in the near future are advised to check for the latest updates and be prepared for the shift to the standby queue system. The new setup will go live on September 9, and Disney is hopeful that it will enhance the overall enjoyment of TRON Lightcycle / Run for all park visitors.
