This is a VERY interesting article. Did you notice the use of euphemisms? “Discerning guests” should be replaced by “the rich”. This ‘club’ originally was for Walt Disney’s friends, many of which were not ‘rich’. Today you would be hard pressed to find a non-rich member of the club. This has become just one more status symbol that rich people own to flout their wealth.

This new ‘lounge’ at Walt Disney World in the Pirates of the Caribbean area is just another bar where people can purchase liquor. Walt would be aghast at what has been done to his legacy. At EPCOT I can understand having liquor in the World Showcase in that these countries routinely serve spirits in their restaurants and the drinking age in some countries does not exist. But the Magic Kingdom is a ‘Family Oriented’ Park or it should be. Now that recreational drugs are becoming more legal in the States, how long before recreational drugs begin being served at Walt Disney World? You can use the same justification for these drugs as you do with spirits. Will the bakeries start serving brownies laced with marijuana or other drugs? And if so, can you restrict them to only adults or will children have access to them? And what about adults that do not want them. Will there be special signs warning people that these goodies are laced with drugs? You see it is a slippery slope that the introduction of spirits has started. Where will it end? I remember when there were no spirits permitted at Walt Disney World or any other Disney property. People had fun and didn’t complain. Then the ‘bean counters’ took charge and began to maximize profits. And where does this money go? Well according to what I have been reading about the Parks, the money hasn’t been going into maintenance of the facilities because things have a nasty habit of breaking down. And the Vacation Club is constantly building more and more units for guests to use to attend the always crowded parks. That money could be better spent building a fifth gate and housing for Disney employees that can’t afford housing. Disney has plenty of property in central Florida. They could build housing and charge employees 20% of their salary for the place to stay (a house) with utilities included in the rent. This would solve numerous problems and provide a steady and loyal workforce.

    Well, enough of my rant.
