Tens of thousands of people visit Walt Disney World every day, ready to make lifelong memories. Between the amazing rides and attractions, the memorable character meet and greets, and the mouthwatering dining options, there is so much to see and do. Once you enter the Walt Disney World bubble, it seems that nothing bad can happen.
However, Disney World doesn’t have a magical spell over it, and bad things do happen. And one August 20 emergency report indicated that a guest had died while visiting the Magic Kingdom.

According to the call log from Orange County Emergency Services, 9-1-1 was called at approximately 1:11 p.m. The call listed a “man down” at [4400 – 5599] Caribbean Way. The call was closed at 1:31 p.m. and lists the category as “death.” Caribbean Way is a backstage road that emergency services use to access certain areas of the Magic Kingdom. The road runs behind Adventureland and ends at the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A.
However, according to Disney, a guest did NOT die while visiting the theme park. There was reportedly a medical incident, to which the fire department responded. Thankfully, the medical incident was not fatal.

No One Dies at Disney World Rumor
For years, there has been a longstanding rumor that no one actually dies at a Walt Disney World Resort theme park. This primarily concerns the difference between “actual death” and “declared death.” A guest might die while on property, but the rumor says that the guest is not technically declared dead until they are off Disney property.
Of course, this is a very difficult rumor to dispel, since Disney does not typically discuss such a sensitive topic. In the past, cast members have said that “no one dies on Disney property” is indeed what they are taught to say.
Now, of course, throughout the years, there have been numerous reports of guests tragically passing away while visiting a Disney resort. Last year, guests were shocked to learn that a man had died after jumping to his death at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Sadly, that was not the only time a guest had committed suicide at a Disney theme park. In the past few years, multiple guests have ended their lives at Disneyland Resort by jumping from the Mickey & Friends parking structure.
Several deaths have also been reported due to accidents that happen while on attractions. However, these are rare, and Disney has many protocols in place to keep guests safe at all times. It is also very important that guests follow all safety rules while in the parks.
