Disney has ruined the Star wars franchise and the acolyte is a perfect example of it

  2. Jeff

Disney star wars stinks worse than a three dollar ho’s tooch! Figure that out! I wouldn’t waste the energy changing channels to watch it for free. You couldn’t pay me to waste my time watching it.

Remember, please, that the “hate” is for the hypocritical misuse of a beloved story for the purposes of promoting a social agenda.

    1. TheyAreFascists

The High Republic was written mostly by prejudiced activists who set out to deconstruct the hopeful stories of good and evil that came before and appropriate it for their political agenda.

We have the receipts because they showed everyone who they were. Full stop.

If ANYONE thinks they will spend 200 million + to make a Rey Palpatine movie and that it will make back the money they spend be prepared for a MAJOR MAJOR letdown. After the ickolyte most Star Wars fans are DONE with Disney and KennedyFilms! Mangold will butcher his attempt as they continue to try and recast canon as “legends” and make the “force female”, Obaid is going to make a movie to “upset men” not me that’s her folks, which in turn means turning away 85%+ of the fanbase from that movie! At this point I can only hope that Kennedy gets fired and Disney sells off LucasFilms to an actual FAN who revives the IP and Retcons EVERYTHING except Andor, Rouge One, and The Mandalorian.

The Acolyte was the best live action release of 2024. That means it beat Echo.
It was a failure, just like the movies were when they couldn’t even make back their marketing and production costs, to say nothing of what Disney paid for Lucasfilm. It’s a failure at every level.

Bummer. Skeleton Crew sounds boring. But I’ll give it a watch. I really like The Acolyte. Gave me KotOR II vibes. The Acolyte is not a bad show. It’s interesting and has so many directions the story could go that I was excited to see what happens next. But since I’m not a toxic, chronically-online, POS bashing anything and everything Disney and/or Kathleen Kennedy does my opinion doesn’t matter to Disney. If they keep canceling stuff after people get into it I’ll just stop watching their stuff like I did with Netflix.
Bottom-line: People don’t know what “bad” is anymore. Not every Star Wars project is going to be a banger of a hit with everyone right away. Look at the fan response to Return of the Jedi when it first released and compare to how fans think of it now.

      I liked it as well.

Some Star wars fans need to get real with themselves. Lucas’s writing wasnt some shakespearean masterpiece.

Media has always been a portrayal of the events of the day….the Wizard of Oz and Citizen Kane were full of social commentary.

      1. TheyAreFascists

        Social commentary isn’t the issue.

        How it’s being presented is.

A lack of respect for fans and the world that they built.

Purposeful destruction, to build up cheap imitation in its place.

        1. BlueCollarCritic

You can’t use logic and reason on the cultists of the #WokeAuthoritarianLeft. For them The Acolyte, ECH and The Last Jedi along with whatever else they are told to like, will be declared the best series/movies in all of history. They live in an alternate reality which is why as us normies see the quality getting worse and worse, the writing more in line with amateur fan fiction than anything of quality, they will see the reverse. Just read this puff peace from ITM and one can easily see we’re dealing with cultists who will call anyone who disagrees every mean and nasty term they can think up.

I enjoyed the acolyte, but it was objectively terrible.

It had good ideas and a few interesting characters but the show was half baked. It was more like a concept pitch than an actual series.

It had some serious characterisations flaws and plot problems.

The amount spent on each episode was ludicrous and does not at all show up anywhere in the actual show.

Even as I say I enjoyed it, The Acolyte should serve as an example to film students how not to make shows.

    3. Richard

you could’ve made a great commentary from your point of view but then you resorted to the same toxicity you accuse fans of decades of this saga of being by insulting them for not thinking like you.

You’re no better. you’re exactly the same.

      Bravo!

I am always anxious to see any new StarWars programs or movies. I will always love StarWars for it’s stories and characters. People who come down on StarWars are tiring, naysayers who are never happy with a nything but love ruining it for people that are real fans . Sign me STAR WARS FOREVER

    1. Drauka

So a person must blindly like anything they slap a Star Wars logo on? The thing most people care about is quality and the Disney Star Wars releases have been sorely lacking in that.

      1. Chris

I would rather them keep making content for a world I enjoy… There will always be people who enjoy it and others who do not. Not everything is going to be great. That’s okay.

But trying to argue facts about a fictional fantasy world is a failure to let yourself have fun imo. And I see that too often in the complaints from “die hard fans”, which ironically I would argue makes you less of a fan.

        1. TheyAreFascists

I think you are probably a decent person but your argument is just minimization at best.

Star Wars is a cultural phenomenon and is much more than just any fictional world or any story. It always has had mythological importance with important societal commentary as well as valuable lessons about family and decency to be passed along to the next generation.

      2. Steve

Thankfully Disney’s days of owning Star Wars are numbered thanks to to a little thing called antitrust that will be used to break up the company and take away all its acquisitions, shrinking Disney back to its 1990s size. Lucasfilm will belong the Lucas family again and all Star Wars attractions in the parks will have to go to avoid the licensing fees.

  8. Jon Cosper

You forgot that light Sabers have crystal cut and configured for color and purpose. Don’t change due to force choice. Blowing my mind, paid $3.50 to see Star Wars im old school. Disappointed Big-time.

  9. Chris

I liked Acolyte and looking forward to Skeleton crew. Happy to see content being made in a galaxy I am interested in.

    Haters gonna hate…

    1. TheyAreFascists

And you’re definitely allowed to enjoy it for what you believe it is.

Just like I’m allowed to be deeply concerned about what they’re actually doing with it and what intent they have in the decisions they’re making.

  10. Mike Forrest

They keep blaming review bombing before the series started, yet the series is now finished and audience score on Rotten Tomatoes barely went up. Stop blaming reviewing bombing for crappy writing, and bad plot devices.

    1. TheyAreFascists

It’s their spoonfed talking points to hide the fact that they wish to destroy and vandalize the culture as a whole.

  11. TheyAreFascist

    You know what’s tiring?

The gaslighting fans have to undergo because they’re looking around and realizing there’s a pattern with the fandoms they enjoy in most forms of media.

They’re all being reappropriated and reshaped into propaganda by disrespectful loudmouths who can’t shut their activist mouths for one second and only gain joy by tearing down others.

But somehow we’re all the problem…..no you’re just doing this because you hate us and our heroes.

    1. TheyAreFascist

“how dare you notice that we actively show utter contempt for you and everything you stand for! Shut up and accept your demoralization!”

  12. TheyAreFascists

Hey I have the best idea ever.

How about we remake Gilmore Girls? But instead of a Mom and her daughter living in a quirky town running into interesting characters, let’s secretly center it on a coming of age story about a Father teaching his son how to navigate life. It can be about one of the more enjoyable side characters and we can use Lorelei and Rory in all of the trailers so you think that it’s actually about them. But we will make sure that all of the characters degrade Rory for all of her poor choices and degrade Lorelei for her stubbornness.

Well call it “The Gilmores” so that it looks like it’s going to tell you about established characters that the fans love but really we will make sure our new characters always have the spotlight.

Or how about “I Love Lucy More”. A hip tale about a friend of Ricky’s who convinced him that staying married to Lucy is the worst idea for his ambitions. So Ricky leaves her and becomes even more famous without her. We can make Lucy cry a lot and whine a lot but this time we’ll actually make her look ungrateful instead of righteously indignant.

Do you all see the problem with doing this????

  13. TheyAreFascists

Or even better. Let’s remake Frozen! Only this time Elsa and Anna in their teens start a huge fight with each other because all of a sudden they decided that they grew up and hate what the other sister has become. Olaf no longer exists because once you grow up, you don’t need talking snowmen anymore. Elsa’s powers are useless int he adult world so she’s sad, cold, and miserable to be around. Ana is disgusted with her sister for becoming so mediocre when she had so much fire and spunk before. That’s all gone now because we have to deconstruct haughty women!

So Ana leaves, and dies a hermit. Elsa regrets that she never relied on family and becomes a crotchety old woman. Kristoff being neglected meets someone else who is more vibrant, and cooks and cleans for him. Its not his fault that he was left with nothing.

  14. Notayapper

You just couldn’t get the point could you. You are a professional yapper.

  15. janine

Acolyte did not rile anybody. It just sucked. Disney needs to stay away from woke and they will keep from going broke.

  16. Richard

I honestly can’t wait for Lucas to get back what’s his and he retcons everything back to normal. The mandalorian S1 and 2, Rogue One and Andor are the only shows worth saving by him. The rest could be scrapped and it wouldn’t hurt one bit.

I know Lucas won’t pay for it for the price Disney will ask as Disney is far from done ruining the original canon that has been set for decades which is why my love for that fantasy world is not dead. I saw starwars back in 79 and have been a die hard fan of its stories but i no longer have the patience to pander horrible writing, agenda ridden directors, terrible acting from actors that know nothing of starwars lore nor respects for the fan base and lackluster and rushed special effects and wardrobes (like in book of bobba fett to name one) all under the rule of a bitter feminist that has a vengeful hate for Lucas and Spielberg for the years she had to be their underdog.

Starwars is dead for me and Kathleen Kennedy and her minions Killed it for me.

  17. JustSomeGuy

The Acolyte was terrible. More than any other Star Wars project to date, It was Kathleen Kennedy’s vehicle for (DEI) propaganda at the cost of a good story being told. It didn’t help that the writing, dialog, and acting were atrocious as well.
Skeleton Crew will be successful if they keep WOKE/DEI promotion out of it, even if writing, dialog, and acting are bad. I’m sure it scares the crap out of Kathleen Kennedy to think that a Star Wars project could have massive success if they simply keep out the WOKE propaganda, much like the success of Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine. It would show her failure to recolonize what people really want, and show Disney how much money Kennedy has lost for them.
