As a lifelong Star Wars fan, since Empire Strikes Back first hit theaters in the early 80s, Im finally done. I don’t care anymore what this perverted version of Disney Lucasfilm does with Star Wars anymore. They constantly disrespect legacy fans and Lucas’s vision so good luck cultivating that imaginary new fan base they’re constantly to pandering to. Already canceled my Disney+ because I’m done with Disney Star Wars.

  2. Dave C

Disney Lucasfilm is pandering to a demographic that simply doesn’t exist. They constantly disrespect legacy fans as well as Lucas’s lore. Already canceled my Disney+ because Im not interested in the content that Disney Lucasfilm makes anymore.

    1. DH

What demographic is it they’re pandering to that doesn’t exist?

      1. That Other Guy

Instantly cursing the whole series and High Republic Era just because they didn’t involve longlived characters that fans are already familiar with, is crazy. There’s so much that we know absolutely nothing about except for a couple of mentions and now we will never be presented the opportunity.

      2. Bubba the Liberal

People who like poor writing and poor storylines but and who will create a cancel culture calling folks bigots and racists. That’s the audience. Like half the comments in this article from reactionary twitter liberals who have never even had a black friend acting like they’re some amazing protector of civil rights by saying “you hate blacks,” over a poorly done show.

    2. Twon

Sound like you are saying to many people of color are in the series🤨

      1. Jay

The rascist people with no imagination and no sense of natural selection, nature in general, and science are speaking nonsense on a fictional show again. The Acolyte is a good show.

        1. PT

It’s not about racism. No one cares about the color of actors. The true demographic of viewers are older and wiser than this stupid LGBTQ generation we are teetering towards. They need to stop forcing this onto all the viewers. As a majority we don’t want to see it everywhere. 6% of the world’s population are LGBTQ. Why force the other 94% to accept it?

        2. Andrew

Racism has nothing to do with our disgust with the show. Sexism or any other ist or phobe insult is a lie. There are so many examples of women and “people of colour” which we have all loved. The Acolye was just bad. It did pander to an audience which doesn’t exist. Men are by far the dominant group of fans. There is nothing wrong with activities/movies which men and boys enjoy. If you don’t cater to your majority fantasy then you don’t profit. Kathleen Kennedy through arrogance has driven away the money.

        3. Mike

Since when is it “rascist” to expect a story that doesn’t suck and characters that aren’t flat.

          1. Trevor

Facts. Story is trash and characters suck. Huge Star wars fan myself. Books, movies, games, all of it. This is by far the worst for me.

        4. Rob

That show is shit. How much are you getting paid to post positive comments?

      2. Me

So sick of stupid drone pasted comments like the above.

“Hey I know that you had valid concerns but you know what would be great. Because I don’t know how to use critical thinking I’ll just reframe your argument into something that’s easy to tear down and dismantle. That’ll make me look so good! I don’t know what a straw man argument is or why people keep telling me that it doesn’t work but who cares! I feel that I can feel whatever I want!

I may decide to use simplistic explanations for everything in life but that doesn’t make me an idiot. No sir!”

      3. Me

Bro just stop you’re embarrassing yourself with all of your third grade level logic. You may want to delete all of your asinine replies.

Any teenager can show that they’re a terrible listener by refusing to hear others arguments and not using critical thinking, but some adults who result to lazy broad-brushing, should be hanging their head in shame with now simplistic they are showing themselves to be.

Go TikTok what “straw man” means. Then come back to the discussion. Remove head from sand, then debate.

No you can’t just easily explain away complex problems with lackadaisical incompetence.

Gotta love the intolerant tolerant. Luckily they are not the majority.

        1. Warren

Here’s some simple dprak for ya GO F URSELF n white knight somewhere else ur like a living version of skinny jeans. Like plz do us the favor n find away to leave life to the living.

        2. You

The fact that you use tiktok as an educational reference says all we need to know kiddo. Guess what. You’re in the 6%, the minority.

    3. LRod

Couldn’t have said it any better! They killed Marvel, and have been waging a long agonizing death on Star Wars!

    4. That Other Guy

I hope people like you don’t resent your shortsightedness in the future for ruining the opportunity barely out of the womb.

    5. StevenA

May the Force be with you

  3. Dj

    Acolyte isn’t Star Wars

    1. Bill ho

      It’s Gay Witches in Space

      1. SocalMel

Can’t wait to see what happens in Skeleton Crew in the fall ..

      2. R

It’s always been Gay Witches in Space.

        Look up Darth Maul’s mom.

    2. Michael

If you believe this show is being review bombed, you probably also believe Biden had a “cold” during the debate 😉

      1. Seth

The show was terrible and doesn’t represent the fan base. When are they going to get it? They bomb with the movies, they bomb with this series,. Kathleen Kennedy has zero clue what to do with the Star Wars universe or maybe she simply wants to destroy it. You want to win back fans? Have Rey untilize the World between world and reset all that happened in those garbage movies . . With the finally seen panning to a Jedi Temple that shows Luke Skywalker training his jedi, leia and han in that back ground with kids and mara jada Skywalker in the scene.

      2. crzybilly74

You mean it wasn’t just the effects of Alzheimer’s disease?

      3. Geoff

The characters, plot, acting, effects are all good. I’m enjoying it. Is your comment from a far right “Christian” perspective 🤔???

    3. Broken Wings

Acolyte is definitely not star wars. It’s so different and forced (wth cars, witches, wtf daggers). what did I just waste my eyeballs watching? My brain is now bleeding. where did they get this content from? feels like copy and paste from some other genre

      1. You

Sounds like she stole it off a gay fan fiction site.

        1. Most fans of star wars are older white males. This says it all as most older white males are racist and homophobic even though they are to scared to admit it. That’s why they vote for trump because he is just like them. This show isn’t bad, it’s watchable and I’m a older white heterosexual man. You people should at least be brave enough to admit you are racist and homophobic instead of hiding like a coward.

    4. StevenA

May the Force be with you

  4. JohnnyGeek

Why would a animated children’s movie producer think that messing with science fiction or comic book characters would be a good idea.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to come up with a plot just go off Star wars cannon come come up with something unique based on Canon and you’re good

    1. Kat

The bottom line is that whoever wrote the acolyte cannot plot. The characters are wooden, two-dimensional. The story is terrible. Then again, when Disney needed you and McGregor to pitch Obi-Wan Kenobi to them, so they would have a story, Disney and lucasfilm are both in trouble. Disney hasn’t been able to create plots for years, and they seem to shatter every franchise they pick up eventually. I couldn’t make it through the acolyte because the story was terrible. And incidentally, don’t tell me that the fan boys are wrong. I’ve been a female fan of Star Wars since 1978. It took Disney to wreck Star Wars for me. I love the mandalorian, I love Obi-Wan kenobi, but I cannot get through the acolyte. And it has nothing to do with the inclusion factor. It has everything to do with terrible plotting and wooden characters.

      1. Dale

So the prequels didn’t “rape your childhood” then?

        1. Jason

Prequels weren’t great but their biggest issue was dialogue, pacing and over use of CGI but the characters were lovable, the action was good but most importantly Lucas didn’t attack the community nor did he take sides in the divide, when you own a massive franchise the worst you can do is take sides

          1. DH

The characters were not lovable, padme, boring, anakin, whiney, jar jar, annoying, etc etc etc.

          2. Mattf

The characters were not lovable. The prequels were the first sign of things to come. George also cannot write.

These things aren’t too different. Too many yes men, not enough quality control.

          3. R

            “but the characters were lovable”

I am so sorry for your childhood if you find any character in the prequels lovable.

The closest I can think of are those three monsters in the gladiator scene of AotC.

        2. Me

This is such an argument! WOW

          1. Brian

Of course not everybody is going to like the acolyte, I think it’s fine. i look forward to seeing each episode every week, and I’ve been in love with the star wars movies since they began. I can think of a lot of different ways the plot could go, and I loved the part about the witches and their take on the force. The people who are giving bad reviews are just going to ruin it for people who like it. If they don’t like it, then they don’t have to watch it.

        3. R

I’m rewatching the prequels with my kid who loves star wars. I feel like someone should be reporting me for child abuse for showing them AotC and RotS

The Acolyte isn’t the most amazing thing ever but it is better than Obi-Wan by a long shot. Lesbian Space Witches are canon, where in Ashoka, and raised Darth Maul.

Also, if you are annoyed by all of the wooden characters, I recommend you watch episode 5. Not sure where it is going ultimately, but as long as they don’t make it a dream sequence or bring in time travel, I’m pretty good with it.

      2. StevenA

May the Force be with you

    2. Carl Conley

      Go woke go broke.
I don’t need that crap shoved down my throat or the throats of my grandchildren sickos

      1. Dale

Or you don’t like movies that don’t agree with your politics.

        1. O.B.

It’s hard to watch someone stare at a fire in space. It’s hard to watch a single person play a twin and when they finally have a clear conversation you see the writers don’t know where they want to go. Further, when disney claims that toxic white males are destroying star Wars while neglecting the millions of black voices, they are being disingenuous and racist in their own right as they are effectively saying our voices don’t matter when they ignore us.

        2. Alice

is that a serious cooment? maybe people don’t like the new lgbtq+ia religion being shoved down their throats and being told that they have to accept it.

        3. Mike

          Stop being fake.

If you are watching a show because it has gay characters, hoping it will be good, and it turns out the show just IS NOT GOOD…

You aren’t a bigot against gays if you tell the truth and say the show sucks.

          The show just sucks.

          1. StevenA

May the Force be with you

      2. DH

        Your grandchildren are sickos?

        1. Tom

True fans will enjoy anything new that’s Starwars. You can’t please everyone. The show is good new characters is refreshing as well as the Saber fights.

    3. Dale

George Lucas established the Canon in the first place and yet fans still criticised the stories he told with the prequels. The fact is you only want stories that match the ones inside your empty head.

      1. Phil

Dude, replying to everyone is not going to work. The prequels had problems because of the brand-new CGI tech; actors had no experience with green screen acting. Lukas failed in the presentation, not the story.

And yes, Star Wars is not meant to critique today’s politics or social division. Yet this is precisely what KK is pushing down our throats. The tropes used in the first three shows were time-tested and worked. KK is inserting controversial and irritating new tropes that we, most fans, hate. It does not work. South Park hit a home run, smashing KK.

Look, there is a plethora of great content, in and out of canon, already written in comics and books. Thousands of great stories. It’s that simple: pick a source material. But no, KK needs to make her inane mark that ruined the whole franchise. She had to make it political, man-hating rubbish. This never works; it’s sci-fi, and the core fan base is male, although many females love it.

This series deserves every single downvote; it’s pathetic in so many ways. The only good in this series so far is the fighting; they had excellent colonography.

If you’re honest, you would come to the same conclusion but can’t; your hate of perceived haters predetermines your bias. Maybe we know what we are talking about; consider that.

        1. Cory

You can’t even spell George Lucas’s name right and I’m supposed to take you seriously as a Star Wars fan?

Every single paragraph of your garbage reply is littered with inaccuracies. George himself has gone on record that Star Wars has always been commentary on current/recent events including politics.

Nothing in this series is man hating, that comment alone shows your true colors in this situation.

You are not part of the majority. You are simply an annoyingly loud minority of misogynistic bigots who want Star Wars to represent your hate when it never has and never will.

        2. Me

          Spot on.

At this point it is most likely purposeful destruction since some of these people have to view everything through the tired lens of modern identity politics and some will never be satisfied with different viewpoints than their own.

It’s outright cultural attack against a fan base that simply wants a good story and wants some level of respectable consistency with the previous storytelling.

It would be so easy to fix, as you mentioned, and the fact none of that has been attempted shows it’s no accident.

          1. R

“wants some level of respectable consistency with the previous storytelling.”

When in the history of star wars has that been a thing?

        3. R

          “they had excellent colonography.”

Somebody needs to check their autocorrect. Hope you got a clear bill of health buddy.

        4. StevenA

May the Force be with you

      2. Me

This is such an argument! WOW

  5. Jeremy

Get rid of the disney ladies and let the real star wars people have control again!!!

    1. Remi Neuman Kelly

They can’t even connect high Republic into Lucas’s movie saga canon. Same thing happened with the video game Jedi: Survivor. Less star wars fans bought it because they shoved high Republic into it. Just watch as they put high Republic into the new star wats Outlaws video game that is already disliked. Just make a The Mandalorian video game THAT’S THE VIDEO GAME WE WANT TO PLAY!

  6. Will mason

This isnt the end of the high republic era. This is the end of having homosexual shite pushed down the neck of a mostly male straight audience. The way youve wrote this suggests you are happy with this drivel. Seems to me ya need to grow a pair.

  7. I have thoroughly enjoyed this new look into the high republic n these new characters. I feel it is a great new journey into Star Wars and was looking forward to more of these shows of how the Sith n the Jedi came about. The fight between the Sith n the Jedis was one of the best in any of the spinoffs. I have been advid fan since the inception of the Films a now these series since 1977 n you still have me . I could care less about Rotten Tomatoes go by a real film buffs opinion.

  8. Duke

The show isn’t as bad as these haters are making it. The problem is content influencers are pushing a strong hate train and the public is jumping on board due to a variety of reasons to lengthy to go into here. Many are enjoying it but they’re voices are being drowned out. The story is not complete yet but it probably won’t be a masterpiece. But, since when has Star Wars ever been?

    1. Jayden

It’s NOT “influencers pushing a hate train”, it’s about Disney pushing away the core audiences if Star Wars, which are primarily men. We DON’T want to see our beloved franchise (and many people’s childhoods – including mine!) be decimated by a disillusioned corporation trying to push THE MESSAGE.

Disney knows why their star wars shows are so awful and hated, and it’s quite obvious when the director literally says she wants an entire episode to be like the Disney film frozen and a musical. It’s INSANE

      1. Dale

You mean, you don’t want to see SW movies which disagree with your politics.

        1. Grim

I see you squawking all over this comment section, yet I’ve seen absolutely no one else here side with you. Be as loud as you want Dale, it’s not going to change the fact that you’re in the minority when it comes to liking this travesty of a show. Oh and trying to put words in people’s mouths like “you just don’t like it because it goes against your political views” is a tasteless comeback. No for most of us this has little to nothing to do with politics, instead we dislike it because it’s shamelessly bad in nearly all aspects.

          1. Colby

Not agreeing with everthing he said (or almost anything), but “you just don’t like it because it goes against your political views” wasn’t “trying to put words in people’s mouth”. It was a spot-on reply to an obviously politically motivated post.

        2. Xilef

          Indeed!
They refuse to accept that the vast overwhelming majority of Star Wars fans aren’t drawn to that!

      2. DH

Grown men crying like 3 year olds because stuff doesn’t match their head canon. Star wars fan base is largely self entitled, many, preachy and pathetic. Basement dwellers who weren’t even around when the films were originally release. I was and I hate most of my fellow Star wars fans because they act like it’s theirs. Suck it up buttercup.

    2. Mike

For 50 years, if it WERENT then Disney wouldn’t have paid so much for it. The OT is some of the most BRILLIANT film maker EVER. If you don’t recognize that it WAS a masterpiece then you OBVIOUSLY haven’t watched it.BTW 14% of people, that’s NOT hate training, THATS speaking honestly.

      1. Dale

Was one of these “brilliant filmmakers” George Lucas who you all bagged as a hack after the prequels “raped your childhood” and he got so much hate that he sold to Disney so his children would stop getting death threats. Lucas selling to Disney was the deserved middle finger to you and he makes millions while Disney has to put up with the SW Karen fans now.

    3. Dale

People these days let social media form opinions for them and many haven’t had an individual thought of their own for years. Also, the fact that these people are so quick to hate says everything you need to know about them as people.

      1. Xilef

You seem to be the hate filled one!

    4. Edward

No. The problem is people watched the show and found that it is crap.

  9. Clint Salyer

I like the show! I like all Star Wars. Period!

    1. Bill ho

      The power of one
      The power of two
      The power of:
      A 14% audience score

      1. Markalarks

Those defending this show obviously weren’t fans of the franchise before episodes 7,8,9 if they were they would be just as upset as the rest of the fan base seeing this mess unfold in front of our eyes. It’s not review bombing it’s the truth. People who are happy with something don’t usually review it. But if someone is unhappy with a product you will hear about it 100x guaranteed. That’s what’s happening. The show has no talent, and the plot sucks.

        1. Cory

You have seemingly unintentionally run straight into the truth. People who are unhappy with something are far more likely to review it meaning that audience reviews are far more likely to be negative. 14% on Rotten Tomatoes is meaningless.

I am defending this series and I have been a fan since the 80s.

        2. Mopar Morgan

So very true! Call a turd a turd, 7,8,9 book of fett the Acolyte Ashoka all just suck! I couldn’t finish Ashoka, Sabine was ruined, totally destroyed the character we grow to love in Rebels and again just strained contrived drivel!

        3. James A Staten

Wrong I’m enjoying the show and I have been a fan since before it was even released. I first read about it in a fanzine put out by Jim Sternanko in 1974. I’m enjoying the fresh take.

        4. R

I saw RotJ in the theater when I was 5.

I like the Acolyte. Not the best, but some great scenes and episode 5 literally had my jaw drop. I am excited to see how it plays out.

Better than the Obi-Wan show in any measure.

    2. Cassiel

      Whatever!

  10. Billy

The Acolyte failed with Star Wars fans because Leslie Headland was not interested in knowing anything about the Star Wars universe. She bragged about hiring writers who knew nothing about Star Wars. If this is the direction that Disney is going to take things, then They are truly putting out products that are Star Wars in name only.

  11. Jayden

    It’s an absolutely AWFUL show.

Yet another utter disgrace from a tone deaf corporation trying to pander to a target demographic that either does not exist or does not care for star wars.

There’s no coming back from this until Disney relents control over the entire franchise or AT LEAST fires the likes of Kathleen Kennedy and lesley headlamp or whatever her name is.

    1. Chase

Amen. Aside from pushing divisive messaging that doesn’t resonate with the majority of the world, it’s just terribly executed. The acting is god awful, the writing is horrid and boring with no depth or character development, $180m for shows that barely hit 30mins, terrible costumes and set design to name a few. Kathleen Kennedy has ruined everything she’s had decisive control over. Mandalorian seasons 1 & 2, Andor and even Ashoka demonstrates people support well written, and directed entertainment. We want to watch a show to be entertained plain and simple.

      1. Thor Odinson

Don’t forget that female “sister” to Nasty “Skeletor” Pelosi, was ALSO in charge of Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny, another franchise she wrecked.

        1. R

          But it isn’t political…

  12. If you continue to give in to the Incel boys, you’ll end up with a pile of women-hating, hate-driven, bro-garbage.

  13. Mike

It’s NOT the setting, it’s the SHOW. It’s NOT Star Wars, it’s Headlands soapbox with Star Wars in the name.

  14. Shawn

Just to be fair the Rotten Tomatoes score is absolutely fake, the show has more ratings than almost all of the other shows combined, so either it is the most watched show in history or most of the ratings are fake bots. It’s been pretty much proven they are bots because basically every show with Acolyte in its name or description is getting review bombed because the bots are misfiring on them. Disney knows this so they are not even paying attention to the reviews because they have been proven invalid.

    1. Raising-Runelords

Wake up dude, bots would need to be created by someone, no doubt someone who would want to benefit from the tilme and effort put in to making them.
No one gains anything from negatively reveiwing anything let alone this tripe, there is no reason to farm bots to negatively review this or any show.

      Make it make sense.

      1. R

You don’t think that there is a massive push for anti-gay propaganda that all of the discourse about this show is based on?

You think a “boring” show would drive this much strife?

You think that… wait… You obviously don’t think. Why am I even typing this?

  15. Dop

George Lucas can still save this somewhat. I don’t know what original characters still exist. I haven’t yet seen the final head chopping episode. But it’s obvious all Disney is interested in us the name Star wars and how to make money off it. They don’t give a rats ass about story so basically they destroyed what they had. George is creative enough where he could continue the original story minus all the dead characters which Disney owned the rights to. Well there gone all that survives is the name lit up in pink rainbow neon. So George can continue the story but under a brand new name and I don’t think the name change would make that much of a difference. May the force not be g** with you

    1. Raising-Runelords

George is retired and has washed his hands of Star Wars, this is Disney’s problem now, and they can’t sell it because of all the Star Wars stuff in the Disney parks, there are too many legal complications to make a sale possible.

  16. Mark Evans

Kathleen Kennedy and Ryan Johnson totally ruined Star Wars. To this day I don’t understand why George Lucas sold out Star Wars. They should let Dave Filoni and Bob Igor have complete control of Star Wars.

  17. Jake

I hope this means they really put the beans to Ahsoka and the Thrawn story line because that is what fans want to see.

  18. Mike

I don’t find the show that offensive. I’m not sure what “agenda” is being pushed that people find so reprehensible. It’s a fantasy set in a galaxy far far away. I like seeing more Jedi that we usually get to see outside when they got slaughtered in Episode II. It’s not a deep and thought provoking sort of show so I watch for the light saber battles and such. I have Disney+ so my kid can watch Bluey, i’ll keep watching, thanks!

    1. DH

American men, from the religious parts, that still think same sex relationships anger their bearded sky fairy.

      1. Colby

        This

      2. Me

I think this could be the smartest comment on the internet Allow me to explain why

        1. No one has ever made it before. So original!
        2. Zero logical fallacies. Go ahead and try to find one!
        3. No presuppositions at all.
        4. No contradictions.
        5. Logic and facts And Science of course.
        6. No examination of evidence. Who needs that when you can just parrot the argument you heard on social media somewhere..

Very well done. Science is real.

    2. Xilef

They are pushing the LGBTWHATEVERDAFUQ agenda

They’re going back and destroying all the white male characters and all the male roles and replacing them with women to the point where they’re destroying the lore. It’s all dei alphabet community pushed
All you have to do is go on line. YouTube look up WDW pro and you’ll see tons of videos on it. These guys know what they’re talking about

  19. For anyone saying it was “bots” review bombing this dumpster fire let me say I was one of those supposed fake accounts that gave it the rating it deserved. I have been a fan of Star Wars since I was 7 years old. I have been with it through the good (ep 4-6) the bad (ep 1-3) and the ugly (Holiday Special, the TV Ewok films). This series is by far the worst thing Disney Star Wars has put out. The lazy writing, the bastardizing of the lore, everything. I am truly embarrassed to be a Star Wars fan now and it would take a miracle from Disney to regain my trust. Shame on them for ruining a franchise and destroying Lucas’ original vision.

    1. R

Let’s be fair, you should be embarrassed of being a Star Wars fan in your forties.

      1. Me

Wow such own! No one’s ever said that before. This is very thought-provoking and very reasonable. I wish everyone thought like you do because the world would be a better place.

You sound like you are a great example of how to use critical thinking and I can tell by your thoughtful comment that you definitely have an attention span that is longer than 10 seconds. I’m so pleased that people like you are showing everyone that there are “more of us”.

The best thing about this is that there’s no need to analyze anything anyone says. We can simply avoid backing up our assertions and be right anyway. After all that’s what it’s all about: owning the other side. Right?

      2. Me

  20. Jobo74

Like the honesty to kill characters to move the narrative it makes a change from star trek red shirt guy die and main characters survive

    1. R

I’m really hoping they don’t make it a dream sequence or time travel. I’ll be review bombing them myself if they do that.

  21. Robert

Disney may as well have Joe Biden take over so he can push pederast based story lines and pedophilia in general… Can’t wait to see Jedi or Sith masters sniff their young apprentice’s hair…. I’m sure the LGBTQ community wouldn’t object … LMSAO 😂😂😂

Star Wars has now become a cancer at stage 3… Little hope but hey…at least it’s a little hope it can go into remission…

  22. Darth Malithon

I’ve been a Star Wars fan from the beginning (70s). And so far I’m loving The Acolyte. I’ve seen nothing that changes “real” lore. Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our point of view. Use of the force is based on faith. Belief. If you don’t believe you it, that is why you fail. This is Star Wars. This is the way.

  23. Gail

The accolyte is a great addition to Star wars and very entertaining. Obi wan said it best many of the truths you hold dear depend upon your point of view.Give it a chance.

  24. PC

The gay love space witches story is way too stupid to have any place but in a bad Hallmark movie set. Speaking of which, I’ve seen better costumes and sets in original episodes Star Trek. Bad pointy ears included.

  25. Alyx

All my friends men and women alike who also like star wars, loved it. The only people I know (personally) who disliked it, tend to be the same men who complain about every show that has diversity, decrying it as ruining a Fandom, and the pick-me women who want those men to like them.

Again this is just of the people I know personally.

    1. Me

Oh yes, “those same men”are definitely the problem. You were really specific about what you were trying to say. Congratulations.

It’s so refreshing to find people on the internet who aren’t bigoted sexist racists who broad brush everything. (Well to be clear if you are on one side of the debate it’s ok to do that because reasons, correct?) but those other people are sooo wrong.

I sure do think that everything would be better if we just slapped people with labels. That way those “pick-me girls” “same men” wouldn’t have any chance to speak and we could just know we are right about everything. We really should do more of that. It’s great not having to listen to valid criticism because then I can feel good about not thinking about stuff.

  26. John

Great show dont know what’s the fuss is about I’m really enjoying the Acolyte Great entertainment that’s what star wars is and always has been

  27. Christopher Logan calloway

I was a fan going into it, and now believe gorge Lucas needs to remain the only on doing any star wars movies. Also Id like to say Dave filoni needs to be the only writer on the TV shows. We don’t need cannon to the T. We just need accurate story telling with a good plot to follow.

  28. Peter

To Kathleen Kennedy and Leslye Headland, you need to learn to handle the truth and face facts.
This show was not review bombed… the fact of the matter is people want ENTERTAINMENT, something this show does not possess with its enormous budget.
If I am paying to be entertained, I want value for my dollars spent, like all customers do.
You can not serve up slop and just expect people to gobble it up.
The premise was good, but the execution was dismal, and just because it has light sabres in it, does not make it Star Wars.
Poor production, writing and directing, made awesome actors look absolutely terrible.
The plot is weak due to abysmal story telling, and its all to predictable as to who the hidden Sith was after watching episode 4, which had absolutely no storytelling purpose.
It was pure filler and nothing more, and the writers should hang their heads in shame.
I did like the introduction of the Cortosis Ore, I found that interesting. But that’s about as far as my interest in the show went.
This was almost the last nail in the coffin that was Star Wars decomposing corpse.
And please don’t let the next movie be made by that man hating Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy make a film, it will be the thing that will totally destroy what is left of the franchise for good.

  29. The balance in the force was destroyed the jedi in or starwars should of not been kill off this way. Let hope the true good over comes and puts the balance back into the force again. The twist and turns of the story was interesting there is still hope here.

  30. Dale

People these days let social media form opinions for them and many haven’t had an individual thought of their own for years. Also, the fact that these people are so quick to hate says everything you need to know about them as people.

  31. Thor Odinson

You’d do best to watch the interviews with Headlamp and the black lead actress. Both parties are gay af, and they talk about this, DEMONSTRABLY, during these interviews. Headlamp even called R2D2, a “lesbian”. She wasn’t joking. 😑

  32. Joe

Fire Kathleen Kennedy. She has no regard for Star Wars Fan base. She wants to just kill the franchise with woke ideology that doesn’t belong. Until she is fired Disney will see no money from me

    1. Cassiel

      I’M TOTALLY AGREE!!! 👍

    2. DH

I bet they’re really bothered that angry joe from the Internet won’t spend any money on star wars merch because he’s an angry mommies boy basement dweller

  33. Jason

This is the 1st article I have actually come across that address the real issue with star wars, No franchise will ever succeed if they put all their failures on the consumer, did blaming the males & articles saying the fandom is ruining star wars, please tell me how that encourages ppl to watch

  34. Cassiel

I don’t like the new agenda about the gay topic, the dumb story and the worst is the showrunner. Totally disconnected from Star Wars concept. I don’t care if someone likes this horrendous production the numbers are real and is only 14% of the audience what means one total waste of 180 million dollars without profits. They need cancel this broken train now.

  35. Lin Mae

I absolutely HATE the term “review bombed”. What do you call it then when people Universally praise something? “Review worship”?

If something is legitimately bad, it DESERVES getting negative reviews. And this dreck they call Acolyte definitely DESERVES negative reviews.

Even if it were a standalone franchise in itself, that had nothing to do with Star Wars, it would still be trash. But the fact that it is supposedly part of Star Wars, and just craps on the entire franchise makes it so much worse.

Please, stop the Review Bombing BS. Those who make crap deserve crap. If you serve fans crap and sideline the entire demographic that made the genre popular in the first please, take the L

  36. Sam

I got through five episodes of this trash. I was really trying to like it but the writing is terrible. The directing is terrible. Doesn’t follow lore/cannon.

We have an unknown dark side user that we know nothing about. We have a still confusing event/plot. We have to terrible dialogue. We have good fight choreography.

Episode 3 should have been episode 1. Following episode 1, we should have probably had an episode on the mystery dark side user. So we at least know the enemy. Then we could have had the current story.

Although this wouldn’t change the terrible dialogue, it would have helped the character development and storytelling.

Atrocious show overall, not watching it anymore.

    1. R

“Episode 3 should have been episode 1”

That goes for about every Star Wars “series” and why they tend to release two episodes of backstory at once before they get into the plot.

These should be 120 minute movies, not episodic series (Mandalorian season one excluded because it was written for it).

That is one criticism I am fully behind.

  37. DH

Wah wah..legacy fans..etc etc. Star wars fans are the most self entitled bunch of basement dwellers. Moan about everything, cry constantly about the largely awful legacy stuff not being canon any more and take a dump over anything new if it doesn’t fit with their head canon. Half the whinging about thia series is about stuff that hasn’t actually happened. “Ooh, ooh but jedi master long head said there were no sith for a 1000 years in the phantom menace” despite a.) Those same fans dumping over phantom menace and how it changed canon, as well as moaning about it being an extended episode of the muppets. B.) The dark side force wielder not actually being a sith.

  38. Jake

I’m an outsider looking in. Not a big fan of the franchise and not that knowledgeable of the storeline. Fan bases will always have complainers, but I don’t think any other franchise has had a revolt the size of this one.
Disney is bringing in some revenue with Star Wars. Just imagine the revenue they would have now if they just gave the fans what the fans wanted.

    1. R

They have put out so many f’ing shows and movies that there is nothing that a Star Wars fan couldn’t find. In fact, the Star Wars fans bailed on things like Rouge One and Solo so much that they stopped making movies.

There is a reason this one is getting so much hate, and it isn’t Star Wars.

  39. Austin

Nobody hates star wars as much as “Star Wars fans”

    1. Me

“Just shut up and do nothing while I purposely try to demoralize you and your family, and then act like I’m trying to help.”

  40. The star wars spin of shows are the first things Disney has gotten right in the star wars universe true fans will always enjoy a gud space adventure as long as its done right the critics who give it a rotten tomato score aren’t fans they are paid to stop real fans from watching and they are gud at it

  41. Mike

As soon as these words come out, the writing gets lazy.

“We need to change a fictional universe from 100 years ago to reflect our current diversity level.”

    Pander, pander, pander.

And you get canceled, canceled, canceled.

Learn the lesson already and stop changing things without the substantive stories to back up the changes. You’ll find that people not only accept the lgbtq additions, they will embrace them.

If they’re not one dimensional lazily written stooges for woke politics.

  42. Mecha

Something I’ve always wondered: since Disney is producing all of this woke content for women and the LGBTQ community, why aren’t THOSE people supporting Disney? If those particular people need DEI representation then why aren’t those same people turning out en masse to show support for Disney’s woke programming and media projects? Ratings would still be soaring if they were, wouldn’t they? The fact is the alternative audience that Disney claims to be supporting has zero interest in returning the favor. Disney may have started off with good intentions but they’ve gone overboard and veered way off course in their trying to push their woke centric initiative. If they want to see successful response for their efforts again they will have to stop catering to “Cousin It” and get back to their original production style of making “quality entertainment for the WHOLE family to enjoy”.

  43. Joseph

I’m fascinated by all the worlds that have created from a single idea and movie. While it isn’t the best in the universe, it isn’t the worst either. It is just hard to pull away for the die hard fans from the familiar story lines and characters. I’ve never read the “High Republic” books so this will be my only chance to see events from that time line. I am liking the series myself.

  44. P. Wolf

What High Republic? This show has had next to no world building in it. We’ve seen inside a couple of bars and inside the Jedi temple, briefly… that’s it. We’ve seen zero true politics from the High Republic, zero world building, only a couple of planets that use the same animal sound scapes, and one large cement structure that was insanely highly flammable. Lamenting we’ll never see the High Republic again is goofy, we haven’t even seen it yet, not even remotely!

    1. R

I’ve read/listened to a few High Republic books. Dumb Jedi’s trying to be a police force while huge unknown evils destroy everything is pretty on brand.

    2. R

We’ve seen middle management bureaucracy, which is the high republic. Bald green lady bossing people around who don’t listen to her, people f’ing things up and trying to do a coverup, child abduction… maybe scrap that last one as a standard bureaucracy thing.

  45. jwewew

QUANTIC DREAM Star Wars ECLIPSE, needs to hurry up and come out but it was said it was years away. IMO they should focus on the Old Republic

  46. Steven bates

Why can’t star wars just be star wars? I don’t remember the original star wars flopping in ratings because it didn’t pander to a certain group. Just make the D#mn star wars drama to entertain its fanbase. Just because you cast 2 dudes or 2 females falling in love means no more to us than a floating space rock. Just make it about the rebellion and dark side. We will be just fine

  47. C

It looks to like the scenes from Planet Of The Apes, an evil villain from WWE, and throw in some modern culture. It looks like a bunch of over paid production engineers spending to much time thinking about the money without much effort. I could be wrong, but my imagination was not blown away. And I could have written and produced better scene. But I’ve been wrong before and I still enjoy the show.

  48. Budman

So disturbing that the existing Star Wars Fan base is so closed minded on this whole new era of time in the galaxy! It’s very refreshing to see new planets and creatures and story lines that essentially helped build to the Canon era.

  49. Daniel

I am a huge Star Wars fan, seeing the original films in the movie theaters. While the Acolyte started out poorly, for me personally, it improved as it went along (currently at episode 4). If I tried to compare it to the past films, I won’t like it. But if I just accepted this was something new and ‘different’, it was an OK show for me. This allowed me to be more interested in the characters and the story. It was also good to see some Asians in the story, as they are hardly ever portrayed in that universe. And in case someone wants to make this political and say that I am ‘woke’, I am a conservative. You might like it more if you accept it is ‘different’. And if you still dislike, that is totally fine and to each his own. I thought it was OK and it got better. The lightsaber battle in the forest was pretty cool, and I started liking Sol and the other characters more, once I decided not to compare them the original characters. The story about the witches and how they used the Force to conceive Osha and Mae? Not the greatest idea, and a bit of pushing an agenda, but I am not going to get all hung up over it. It’s just a small part of the story, so once I stopped trying to make it a big deal, it became something much less. Although it might be ‘pushing an agenda’, thinking about politics all the time is such a downer. Just think of it as a bad story. I am interested to see how the rest of the story goes and whether it becomes better or worse. Just try to enjoy folks! And if it not, that’s fine. Feel the way you want to feel. I felt much better after lightening up.

  50. Backcountry 164

The idea that going back in time allows you to ignore canon is why this guy is stuck writing for Inside the Tragic…

  51. Jeff

Disney Star Wars is failing, not because of review bombers and social media, but because they suck. You know this by looking at the viewership. Many of these shows started with a decent audience, then halved them with every episode.

  52. Bugman

I’m an old crusty Gen-Xer that grew up with the original trilogy (in the theatre!). While not all of the Star Wars offerings have landed in my mind (Sequel Trilogy (Yikes!)). I think The Acolyte is fantastic!
Bravo and thank you for this excellent series so far.

  53. StevenA

The Ejacolyte and the witchbians, and that fool KK is killing our beloved Star Wars.

May the Force be with you

  54. Zaphod

If you are trying to shame me into watching this garbage … you will not succeed! I loved Star Wars, I grew up with it, I educated my children on it … and Disney has destroyed it in some perverted attempt to repackage it for an audience that does not exist. Goodbye and good luck … you are going to need it.

  55. Me

You and all of your arguments are so easy to debunk that it’s stupid how little time and thought it takes me. I spend more time trying to get the comments to go through than actually countering you.

All you are doing is coming up with an argument that anyone would find easy to knock down instead of actually addressing the other persons argument. Then you’re attributing that argument to the person you disagree with.

This is a debate 101 mistake. Logical fallacies don’t work.

  56. Ian Hirst

I have loved Star Wars since the original in 1977. Not all shows or films have been great but there is a negativity to anything that has tried to tell a different story like Last Jedi, Solo, Ashoka or The Acolyte. When we have reverted to what people say they want like Rise of Skywalker witness the result. I have enjoyed The Acolyte and it is good to have a different setting though I feel it needed more episodes and I don’t find the story or characters flat.

  57. DJC

You’ll notice a ton of the positive comments and reviews about the show all go something like this “I’ve been a fan of star wars since the start and loved the first movies, I think the acolyte is great and the characters are awesome, all the negativity is just b/c this is something different and new” Written by bots. The negative reviews are so obviously real – if you think it’s fake then look at the viewership minutes and tell me again how much people are “review bombing”
