Awwwww~~ get off Disney’s back. Lots of ppl booed The Little Mermaid ride and now the lines to ride it are really long (but goes fast). It’ll be fine. Have some faith. (Or, build your own theme park! Smiles!)
The last time I was in California Adventure (which admittedly was pre-covid) Little Mermaid was almost literally a walk-on (we waited “in-line” less time than it took to walk from the building entrance to the end of the line). Are the lines for it actually long again? Ugh, more reason to be glad I’m no longer a an AP holder.
I you can’t read nor comprehend much dingbat. What was the point of changing the best ride in the park into some diversity hire PR stunt nightmare? For what?
I called it and I won’t be surprised that this crap re-theme shares the same fate as the “Star Wars” Galatic Star Cruiser, that it closes down. Bring back Splash Mountain.
Actually Splash Mountain was based on tales from actual African American folklore. Princess and the Frog was a Russian story that was race swapped to create Tiana. I’d say the original theme is more in favor of POC.
“For now, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is due to open in late June, and it is too late to change the ride’s story. A delay in opening the new ride would embarrass Disney, so it seems unlikely.”
Disney deserves to be embarrassed for being bullied into implementing DEI instead of allowing fans to let them know what they like and JUST ENTERTAINING.
but but but – remember Bob Iger said tey are moving away from DEI – as he puts two lesbians in charge of (yet another ) star wars project who openly said they are openly anti white guys. Imagine the blow back if someone said tey were anti LGBTQ@$+?:
Wrong. Nothing is too late. Don’t you forget this: The starcruiser hotel opened, it never lasted long but got shut down for obvious reasons. The same thing would happen to the racist failure the more bad receptions it gets. So be prepared.
Well this wouldn’t have happened if they took their time getting everything up to par, instead of rushing it for pandering and placating the one or two cry babies who thought the ride was racist.
Let’s revisit the subject of the ride a year from now. Go to the Carousel of Progress for a refresher on the past when said “it” could not be done. The “it” that I’m referring to will be not only the acceptance of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but the widespread popularity of the ride one all the technical problems are addressed. If the breakdowns are a result of carrying the previous system from Splash Mountain to this ride – fix the problem that exists and don’t blame the retheming.
I watched a working POV on this ride. I don’t understand the plot point of shrinking riders and then making them normal size at the top of the drop. Honey I shrunk the audience lives on in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Don’t know why she goes from cooking, to being in the Bayou looking like a park ranger, to celebrating Mardi Gras as a beautiful princess. I’m not an imagineer, so I guess I will not understand.
Splash Mountain was the GOAT. This will never compare to it.
Maybe it’s haunted with the ghosts of Splash Mountain. Breakdowns will continue until they change it back. Lol
Mama Odie “wasn’t the main villain”? Mama Odie wasn’t a villain AT ALL; she more or less filled the “wise mentor” role. The problem with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (aside from the technical issues, which could be just becase the ride was shut down for an extended period and probably have nothing to do with the content of the retheme) is that it’s a nothingburger of a story. They could have drawn from the plot of the movie itself, but maybe a black person being the villain doesn’t fit The Narrative.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Get woke, go broke.
You had a functioning system built by your predecessors. A functioning system which has worked for decades. There was nothing wrong with that functioning system, except that a severely rabid and insignificant minority imagined it was racist and politically incorrect.
You have totally uprooted that functioning system and have this attempted to reinvent the wheel. Surprise, surprise, it’s not working out how you imagined.
Maybe don’t take away a good thing to appease the whims of toxic rioters and insurrectionists who burn down their own neighborhoods.
Now that the toothpaste is out of the tube, I doubt it’s even possible to return the ride to its former glory. You have successfully spent millions of dollars disgracing Walt Disney’s legacy. People who didn’t know anything about the song of the south but loved splash mountain will now question why anyone had a problem with the ride in the first place. This is called the Barbara Streisand effect. The more you try to cover something up, the more people will take notice.
The genie is out of the bottle, and there’s nothing you can do to put it back. Have fun!
Disney needs to go back to basics and stop listening to box checker hires, the try and justify their existence and ruins it for the majority of disney fans

Why rebuild something that wasn’t broken

Give it up and get real.

Get a life yourself Zara. M was right anyway.

Splash Mountain was iconic..
Tiana’s is just a guilt trip and a DEI statement..
Yuck..
walt
could not have said it better myself!!!

Yuck to you. Anytime change occurs in favor of POCs, specifically Black people, old bigoted people like you will have something negative to say.

Oh really
Perhaps the focus should shift toward creating quality entertainment, not just ticking boxes on a virtue signaling checklist.

Splash Mountain’s opening was delayed at Disneyland. Back then they gave us free reentry to make up for it. I’m sure they won’t do that now.

That doesn’t mean anything.

The only way to fix this mess now, is to bring back the original and put it back where it belongs.

Are you ok?

Wait until a few start clamoring for Walt Disney’s statue to be torn down. Revisionist history is a slippery slope.
RJ
Bob Iger himself was caught saying the new ride is boring. Ironic considering he was the one who ordered the change.

Even Keith David did not seem to like it either, judging by his face in an image.
