Rumors and allegations…ever the stuff of tabloid fodder.

    1. Steamboat Willie

From what I remember, the rumor was that he walked into the ride while it was still being installed. So, of course it would be so damn boring, barely anything had been placed in yet. 😑

Thats what inside the magic now is… i read that everyone is happy everyone that isnt hadnt ridden the ride yet or misses splash or will complain about it being down but then splash broke down once a day if not even in wk spans what you expect you didnt do anything to the ride!!!

  2. Mr. Iger. Repeat after me. Disney shot itself in the foot. That foot is now about to be force fed down the throats of consumers who believe Splash Mountain never should have been touched. Take a lesson from Bud Light. Know your consumers.

Oh where do I begin! This has always been personal for me. I worked as an attractions host on Splash Mountain. While we had names for each scene most of us never knew what movie it came from. Disney has dug a deep grave for itself. I for one hope and pray the paying public pushes them in and buries them in cement! RIP Splash Mountain.

Maybe they should postpone the opening and address this issue, before “it” hits the fan.

Definitely a great idea! I have to wonder if the castmember preview went down due to technical difficulties, or negative feedback. Please
, go back to the drawing board on this attraction.

    2. Steamboat Willie

Bud Light did the “horrible deed” of have a trans woman advertise their beer.

Disney, on the other hand, rethemed a popular ride on the grounds of the ride failing constantly (although offensiveness would’ve also played a major role).

This says A LOT about the consumers imo…

They can easily fix this especially for the Anaheim version which is still under construction. Bring back some of the critter animatronics that were removed. Why the lead imagineer for this project did not even consider keeping them and just redressing them was just foolish. They had all these classic critters which could have been easily fit into the story. Instead they darken lots of areas of the ride to hide the lack of dead space. Fix the part of the ride where people are supposedly shrunk to find tiny band members. First off all that whole section is pretty much divulged of anything except some badly placed screens of Tiana. Make that area the conflict of the story and add Facilier. If the story is about celebrating and finding musicians to play at the party they make this section about how facile pops in to try and stop the party and some how we escape his plan by going over the falls. If this ride had been designed as a new ride I think it would have been accepted for what it is and would ave most likely have been a trackless ride or a calm flume ride. The problem is this is a thrill ride and this lackluster story which no one really knows what it is was shoved into the ride system. So are we looking for musicians or some kind of special spice that at the end we find out it was us? We knew from the beginning that the ride was going to have issues as soon as they went from a really cool looking hill with the tree and boat on top to a oddly shaped salt dome covered in fake plants.

They should hire you as the lead Imaginear on this project! The current ones certainly dropped the ball!

Same people are designing rides for Toyko at Fantasy Springs and they look amazing, but a retheme just doesn’t work. The ride was made for a story, now your trying to fit a story into the ride… the magic just doesn’t work as well that way.
A new splash mountain, updated technology taking it where it couldn’t go before would have been a better investment.
Now I just have to save for those Toyko plane tickets lol, they have their own budget and spare no expense, letting the imagineers have free reign to make the magic.

Retheming is not a best investment. Never was as proven.

  5. I was never tore up over the idea of chafing the ride, and the story. Most people had no idea that splash mountain even had a story/movie behind it. That being said, I watched a pov video of the new ride. While there were some parts that were cute, it really didn’t tell a story, or if it did I couldn’t put it together. We had to rewind, to u dressy d we were supposed to be shrunken at one point. There were lots of dark corners with just empty spaces. While the original ride was lacking in some areas, this was over the top. It was boring on the screen, and I missed the cute characters and fun music. I also don’t like how they portrayed Tiana. My granddaughter didn’t even know who she was at first. Disney can do better. I don’t know that this instance was Disney “caving to outside pressure” but we have seen a lot of that over the past few years, it’s everywhere. Disney is an escape from reality. I don’t need the real world in Disney, keep it magical, and ever improving.

Completely agree! I do remember seeing Song of the South when I was a little girl. I didn’t look at it. As anything more than a cute story based on something from a long time ago. Most people who rode Splash Mountain who are under the age of 50, probably have no idea of th story, other than what they heard, because of the controversy about it. To many, it was a cute ride, with great, lively music, cute silly characters and the usual Disney trope of good against evil, with good winning in the end. I can understand wanting to have a ride celebrating Tiana, and The Princess and the Frog, but to take this iconic ride and try to force another storyline, and a poor one at that, into it makes the loss of the crowd favorite, E ticket ride all the sadder. Tiana deserved an original ride, not a on the cheap redo, and Splash Mountain fans deserved better, as well. Disney has caved before when renaming Dixie Landing, and it’s caving again. History happened. It shouldn’t be rewritten because something someone doesn’t like what happened.

Just got back from spending three days at WDW. Judging by the many comments I heard from people, I believe that there will be no shortage of people riding Tiana’s attraction. Most people I spoke with, or overheard, in a very crowded Magic Kingdom, wished the ride was open NOW! I drink Bud Light, not because of any advertisement, but because I like the taste. People will ride Tiana’s attraction not ever having seen the movie, or even knowing anything about the story. Wait, you’ll see.

They decided on the change based on a snippet of the now defunct BLM. Wrong move.

    1. RJ

They decided on the change when the riots after George Floyd were occurring. Anything that was considered racist was considered a target for reprisal. I think Disney (Iger) feared they were next.

If he really hated it, then he should’ve left the more popular original version the way it is. The only way to fix it and draw the customers is to put the original back as it was where it belongs. That may be the only way.

  9. Jan K.

I see it being popular for a few months but then after everyone has seen it once it will be dying a slow death. Fron what I have seen it has a few songs, but the story is very broken and all fluff no drama or logic to the sections. I still don’t get how Mama Odie shrinks you as she is an expert at everything she does! They don’t have any logic to the flume ride, LA is all under sea level where is the logic to the going up the mountain???

  10. Jeff

FBI! His legacy is finished. All of this is his falt. He has screwed up everything. I now hate gay Disney. Happy rainbow farts and butt sex month Bob!

Ever notice how the prejudiced and bigoted comments are the ones that always contain misspelled words? It totally tracks. In cases like this, it’s perfectly acceptable to laugh at the uneducated with zero guilt.

  11. Samantha

They could have done things differently. But political got involved.

They should have done a park with all the forest of Disney and bayou outdoor eating arena. Try snow white pies tianas benes walle smoothies. And more Here. Disney picnic.

Or just have her restaurant installed. Like they did Gastons tavern.

Treasure hunt with pirates from the Caribbean to find jacks rum.and the medallions..

Anything but taking out classics to make changes because most changes are never a plus. Going in smoke almost literally…

Next they’ll change the castles and everything else to be all for BLM.

    No story writers no nothing.

Good luck with the negative numbers Disney,. You changed. And it is not good change either.

  12. Leslie

    It’s Bob Igers fault.

He should have left Splash Mountain alone. It was one of the most popular rides of all time.
